I originally thought that during this trip to the Ancient Sanctuary, the only people the Sanqing Immortal Sect needed to be concerned about were Xiang Tiange and Li Zuoyue. I never expected there would be such a hidden talent among them.

Her cultivation level was one realm lower, yet her mastery of the Thunder Technique was in no way inferior to the Saint Heir of Longhu. Who would believe such a thing?

The only saving grace was that the young woman from the Thunder Sect was currently only at the Core Formation Realm. Otherwise, if there were another Zhang Yuge—no, soone even more terrifying than Zhang Yuge—the situation would be completely different.

* * *

The commotion from their duel grew louder and louder. Throughout Vermilion Bird City, countless people looked up in their direction, marveling at the sight.

High in the vast sky above Vermilion Bird City, atop a waterside pavilion with an excellent view, a woman dressed in azure robes sat on the grass by the shore, her fair, bare feet playfully splashing in the water. She propped herself up with one hand on the grass behind her while the other held a string of candied hawthorn, continuously popping them into her small, cherry-like mouth until her cheeks puffed out adorably. The two silver bracelets on her wrist clinked together softly, and her entire deanor exuded a sense of utter relaxation.

She watched the terrifying flashes of lightning in the distance, chewing on her candied hawthorn with a thoughtful expression.

They’ve started fighting already? Are they in such a rush?

Suddenly, a respectful voice sounded from afar.

"Saintess!"

Hearing this, the woman in the azure dress stiffened, panic flashing in her eyes. Her playful feet stopped moving. With a pained look at the uneaten candied hawthorn in her hand, she gritted her teeth and tossed it into the water.

She then cast a Purification Spell, cleaning the red, sticky residue from her mouth. Following that, she lightly tapped her toes on the water’s surface, and her entire figure soared into the air.

Dressed in azure and barefoot, the light gauze of her dress trailing behind her fluttered in the wind. Her expression grew cold and indifferent, like a Heavenly Immortal under the moon, ready to ascend at any mont—an otherworldly beauty.

The entire sequence of actions was perfectly fluid and seamless, as if she had rehearsed it thousands of tis.

Arriving at the waterside pavilion, she found a baby-faced girl with pigtails waiting for her.

The woman in azure’s voice, clear as a mountain spring, rang out. "What’s the matter, Luo Ying?"

The baby-faced girl said, "The Saint Heir of Longhu is competing in the Thunder Technique with a disciple of the Sanqing Immortal Sect’s Thunder Sect. Do you want to go watch? It sounds very exciting."

The woman in azure shook her head. "Their feud has nothing to do with Mount Shu. We just need to mind our own business."

"Oh!" The pigtailed, baby-faced girl nodded in disappointnt. Then, as if she slled sothing, her nose twitched, and she looked suspiciously at the woman in azure.

"Why do I sll candied hawthorn? Senior Sister... you haven’t been sneaking snacks again, have you?"

Li Xuanqi, the Saintess of Mount Shu, was panicking internally but kept her composure. "How could that be? I, the Saintess, gave up such things long ago!"

Luo Ying eyed her doubtfully. "That’s good, then! Before we left, the Sect Master specifically instructed not to let you eat random things from down the mountain. It’s bad for your health!"

Li Xuanqi nodded. "Don’t worry, I know what I’m doing."

The girl curtsied. "In that case, I’ll take my leave. Please rest well, Senior Sister."

Li Xuanqi humd in acknowledgnt.

With that, Luo Ying turned and left.

Li Xuanqi watched her walk away. With a flip of her hand, a brand-new stick of candied hawthorn appeared in her grasp. She looked down at it wistfully and sighed. This is the last one... Oh well, I’ll have a bite!

"By the way, Senior Sister..."

She had just bitten into one when Luo Ying suddenly returned.

Startled, Li Xuanqi quickly flicked her wrist, sending the candied hawthorn flying into the water. Without ti to chew, she swallowed the piece whole. Suppressing the stabbing pain in her heart, she asked nonchalantly, "Now what?"

Luo Ying’s lips curved into a slight smile. "Nothing. I just wanted to remind you... after you finish your candied hawthorn, rember to take your dicine!"

Li Xuanqi’s heart skipped a beat. "What candied hawthorn?"

Luo Ying sighed and pointed to the water behind her. "Senior Sister, didn’t you know? Candied hawthorn floats."

Li Xuanqi: "!!"

She turned her head, and sure enough, there were two sticks of candied hawthorn floating on the water’s surface. In an instant, countless mythical horses galloped through her heart.

Just then—

BOOM!

An even more terrifying, destructive aura spread from the horizon. Li Xuanqi turned to look, her pupils constricting as her expression turned grave. "Sothing’s happened!"

「anwhile, in the inner city.」

Atop a certain pavilion, a man in dark robes stood with his hands behind his back, a jade flute tucked into his waist. He gazed at the distant scene, his eyes narrowed. What an astonishing display of the Thunder Technique!

Behind him, a lovely attending maid tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "It is said that all Thunder Techniques in the world originate from Longhu, but few know..."

The man in dark robes waited with his hands clasped behind his back for so ti. When the maid didn’t finish, he frowned. "Few know what? Spit it out!"

The attending maid shot him a glance. "Don’t you already know?"

The man in dark robes grew agitated. "I know, but you started the sentence! Just finish it!"

The maid shook her head. "I won’t."

The man in dark robes: "!!!"

He took a deep breath, reining in his temper. "Are you going to say it or not?"

The maid shook her head.

"One last ti. Are you going to say it?"

"I won’t."

"Aaargh! That does it! I’m gonna kill you!" The man in dark robes finally snapped. His eyes went red as he rolled up his sleeves, ready to pounce.

However, the maid simply glanced at him calmly. "Saint Heir, your flute is crooked."

At her words, the man in dark robes froze and looked down. Sure enough, the jade flute at his waist was out of place, slanted toward the front instead of sitting properly at his side. He imdiately bent down to adjust it.
