"Isn’t that Lanshi?"
"That guy is nothing but trash. He has a pure bloodline, but he’s weak as hell. He does nothing but indulge himself all day and is completely incompetent. Worse, he has a cruel streak—nearly none of the female demons he takes away survive more than three days before being tortured to death!"
"What can anyone do? It’s his good fortune to have been born a pureblood."
The crowd sighed and shook their heads, murmuring amongst themselves.
"I won’t do it!"
At that mont, a faint voice ca from behind the screen. It was trembling and fearful, yet the words were spoken with firm resolve.
The room erupted into an uproar.
Lanshi himself couldn’t believe his ears. He stared in a daze before his expression twisted into uncontrollable fury.
A lowly Foreign Demon, a woman who sells her smiles in a Brothel, actually dared to say no to him? This was a humiliation, not only to him but to his entire family. If word of this got out... his entire Ancient Clan would be utterly disgraced because of him.
"How outrageous! Seize her by force! I’d like to see if you’re really as tough as you sound!"
"Don’t touch ! I... I’m with the Ancestral Demon Sect!" Chaos erupted behind the screen as the woman shrieked in panic. She struggled out into the open, brandishing a token.
"Heh. So that’s where your courage cos from... this little token." Lanshi paused, a sneer spreading across his face as he snatched the token and crushed it to dust. "A bunch of lowly Foreign Demons. Do you really think you can defy fate just by huddling together? That fool from the Earth Magic Elephant Clan was just toying with you like you were dogs, and you actually took him seriously. Now you even dare to defy !"
"Take her away!"
At Lanshi’s command, his followers imdiately surged forward, seizing the woman and forcefully dragging her away.
"Stop!"
The doorway was packed with countless Foreign Demons. They watched the scene unfold, their fury mounting as they saw the Snake Woman being forcibly held down. "Let her go! She’s not here to sell her body! What right do you have to take her away?"
Lanshi swaggered out, gazing down at the crowd of Foreign Demons with contempt. "Interesting," he sneered. "Truly interesting!"
He trembled with anger. Today had been one setback after another: first, a rejection from a lowly Foreign Demon in a Brothel, and now a whole crowd of them blocking his way.
He, Lanshi, might be a useless good-for-nothing in his clan, utterly worthless, but that was precisely why he couldn’t tolerate being defied by those he considered beneath him!
"On what grounds? On the grounds that I am a pureblood, and you are lowly Foreign Demons! What are all of you doing crowded here? Trying to stop ? Or perhaps you plan to lay a hand on ?"
Lanshi sneered, striding directly toward the multitude of Foreign Demons. "You want to save her? Simple. Kill , and you can take her away! Do you dare?"
With every step he took forward, the Foreign Demons at the door took one step back.
They clenched their teeth, the fury in their hearts threatening to consu them. But the instinctual fear of a higher bloodline, ingrained over countless years, steadily eroded their courage.
Indeed, with so many of them, they could easily swarm Lanshi and tear him to pieces. But what then? As Foreign Demons, killing the son of a Pureblood Family was a capital cri! The consequences would be unimaginable. Even with the Ancestral Demon Sect backing them, they still didn’t dare. No one could guarantee their safety after committing such an act.
Seeing the Foreign Demons hesitate, Lanshi burst into triumphant laughter, his voice unbearably grating and shrill.
The onlookers sighed and shook their heads. Just as we thought. How could Foreign Demons possibly challenge a pureblood? The Ancestral Demon Sect really is a joke. What were they even hoping for?
The Snake Woman, still pinned down, had a spark of hope in her eyes, but it was now beginning to dim.
However, just at that mont...
BOOM!
A figure appeared soundlessly, seizing Lanshi by the neck. He was hoisted high into the air and then slamd viciously into the ground. The earth quaked violently in an instant. A terrifyingly deep crater ford where Lanshi landed, sending rubble flying in all directions. The entire Brothel shuddered, its structure collapsing as a whole row of buildings on the street crumbled in its wake, creating a scene of devastation.
"It’s Qingyun!" the crowd exclaid in shock. Qingyun had actually intervened, grabbing Lanshi by the throat and smashing him into the earth.
He hadn’t dealt a fatal blow. Lanshi was still breathing, though his body was completely mangled, his face a mask of fury. Only his head remained above the ground. "You... you dare to touch ?" he choked out.
Qingyun ignored him completely, not even sparing him a glance as he stepped aside.
Only then did the crowd notice that Xiang Shan had arrived at so point. He parted the crowd and walked up to Lanshi, his face devoid of emotion. "You lay a hand on the people of my Ancestral Demon Sect, so why can’t I lay a hand on you?"
Lanshi trembled. "You... you’re completely insane! To make an enemy of for a bunch of lowlifes!"
Xiang Shan remained calm. He turned around, stood with his hands clasped behind his back, and faced the mbers of the Ancestral Demon Sect behind him. "What is the creed of the Ancestral Demon Sect?"
"Oppose oppression, all demons are equal!" The response was scattered, as most had not yet recovered from the sudden turn of events.
"I can’t hear you!" Xiang Shan said flatly.
"Oppose oppression, all demons are equal!" The voices were more uniform this ti, but still not loud enough.
"I can’t hear you!" Xiang Shan’s eyes glead with a sharp light. His presence was overwhelming, and behind him, Demonic Light surged like a vast ocean. He looked like an Ancient God, an incarnation of a divine being.
"OPPOSE OPPRESSION, ALL DEMONS ARE EQUAL!" This ti, the shout was so powerful it shattered the clouds overhead, sending them scattering. The hearts of the spectators pounded in their chests.
"If soone bullies and oppresses our brethren, what should we do?" Xiang Shan’s gaze was piercing as he posed the question.
"KILL! KILL! KILL!" the demons roared in unison. Their killing intent shot to the heavens, transforming the area into a chilling battlefield.
"Then what are you waiting for?" Xiang Shan’s gaze shifted slightly. His voice was soft, but it carried the finality of a decree from Yama, sealing a man’s fate.
Upon hearing his words, the demons reacted instantly. Their gazes, sharp as daggers, locked onto Lanshi like a pack of ravenous beasts.
Lanshi’s pupils shrank. An unprecedented fear washed over him, so potent that even his Spirit trembled.
"Xiang Shan... you dare? YOU DARE!"
Xiang Shan said nothing. He simply gave a light wave of his hand.
The next mont, the horde of demons sward forward, completely engulfing Lanshi.
Screams rose and fell, shattering the gloom that had long enveloped the sky above Three Origins City. It was as if a corner of the oppressive haze that had hung over the Demon Race for countless years was finally being lifted.
The spectators were all horrified into a stunned silence.
"The heavens... are about to change!"
...
「In a teahouse sowhere.」
A demon with waist-length golden hair leaned against a window, sipping tea and observing the scene below with an air of detachnt.
"The ti is right. The heavens are due for a change... and it’s ti to draw in the net."
