Instructor Jin pushed open the door, and Li Juanxin walked in behind him, all the students turned to look at him. They all seem older than him and even bigger than his brothers. Most of them were between fifteen and eighteen years old.

"Who’s that?"

"What’s a child doing here?"

"You, sit there." Instructor Jin looked at Li Juanxin and pointed at an empty desk in the front roll.

Li Juanxin nodded and walked calmly. The mont he sat down, he felt the air around him change.

"Why is a kid here?" One boy in the second row frowned deeply.

"Maybe he’s a genius and they couldn’t wait to bump him up." Another answer irritably.

Li Juanxin was a little scared, after all he was sitting among older kids who didn’t seem to be friendly in the slightest.

But just thinking about how proud his Dad would be when he learned that he was put in the advanced class, he straightened his back and focused on the instructor at the front.

"The lesson ends in ten minutes. After that, we will begin the assessnt. The top three would be given a reward." Instructor Jin said seriously:

"This is the last chance to go over your materials before the exam. Make sure you understand the core concepts. Don’t think your age will excuse you from the sa standards as the rest."

Everyone knew who he was referring to and laughed. They were relieved to know that the instructor wasn’t going to show favoritism to the new kid.

As instructor Jin went over the lesson, Li Juanxin was glad to find out that it was sothing his Dad already taught him. Although he hasn’t engraved his inscriptions on physical objects, he has already made ones he can use on himself.

The ten minutes went by quickly. It could be because many were anxious. This class has only students who had chosen Inscription as a path, so there were few level two Inscription Masters.

Logically speaking, Li Juanxin shouldn’t be here. Because he hasn’t finished the first sester yet. But instructor Hao was very impressive with his talent and thought he should get a head start.

Engraving on physical objects is very difficult. Because it requires not only precision but a deep understanding of materials. Most importantly they have to make their own ink.

Hao Ming left to find a substitute teacher for his kids, because he wanted to see how this assessnt would turn out for Li Juanxin.

"Let’s et in the east courtyard in five minutes." Instructor Jin said as he exited the classroom with his things.

The students also packed up, and left in pairs.

"He, kid, what’s your na?" An older boy approached Li Juanxin and asked with a smile.

"I am Li Juanxin." Li Juanxin turned around and answered.

The boy’s smile widened and he pats his head: "You don’t have to be afraid. We’re classmates now."

Li Juanxin shook his head: "Now really. I’m only a temporary student of this class. The teacher said if I do well in this assessnt, then I’ll be an official student of the class."

"Well, let wish you good luck in advance. I know you’ll make it through." The boy said encouragingly.

Li Juanxin felt a warm glow at the boy’s encouragent. He was happy that at least one person was willing to talk to him instead of sneering and walking by.

"Thank you."

"I am He Zhihao, it’s nice to et you Li Juanxin." He Zhihao extended his hands and shook Li Juanxin’s little hands: "What’s your level in Inscription?"

"I’m at the peak of level 1. What about you?" Li Juanxin asked

He Zhihao looked very impressive: "I’m at the beginner level of level 2."

"Cool." Li Juanxin’s eyes shone with admiration. He had been stuck at level one for a long ti. At first he thought he had advanced to level two, but later, he couldn’t finish any level two Inscriptions.

He had no choice but to accept the fact that he was still at level one.

What Li Juanxin didn’t know was that his father’s Inscriptions techniques are very advanced and soone at level three would also have a hard ti with those complex patterns.

"This class is tough, but instructor Jin really knows his stuff. Thanks to him, I was able to break through." He Zhihao paused and lowered his voice: "A lot of students struggle here, as you’re aware, only the best of the best are here. So they’re very sensitive to the word genius. But if you ignore their attitude and listen carefully, you’ll catch up in no ti."

"I’ll do my best." Li Juanxin clenched his fist with determination.

"Wanna go together?"

"Yes, please." Li Juanxin agreed quickly. He didn’t even know where the east courtyard was located.

🪷🪷🪷

When they arrived at the East courtyard, all the other students were already there. So teachers and other students were there as well to watch the challenge.

Li Juanxin’s heart raced as he scanned the crowd. He didn’t expect this many people to watch.

He stood behind his table nervously.

Five rows of engraving stations were placed in the center of the courtyard. Each station contained a small working platform, a low furnace basin, and a rack holding three ordinary low grade level one swords.

Instructor Jin stood at the front with his hands behind his back.

"Today’s assessnt is simple. You will have engraved inscriptions that increase an object’s attributes." He said calmly: "If you look at your stations, you’ll see three ordinary swords, that’s what you’ll be working with and you only have three attempts."

The students tensed when he ntioned only three attempts. They couldn’t afford to ss up.

"For this challenge, you must refine your own ink. As Inscription Masters the most important thing is the ink. And if you’d been listening for the past few weeks, you shouldn’t have any trouble making the right blend."

The real difficulty of Inscription work was not the drawing but preparing the ink. You can draw a pretty picture but it works the way you want if it doesn’t have the right ink.

If the spiritual balance of the ink was wrong, the inscription would collapse even if the drawing was perfect.

"You only have one attempt in choosing the right materials. Also, you only have one hour." He raised his index finger and shouted: "BIGIN!!!"

The students rushed towards the ingredients table almost instantly. Li Juanxin’s heart raced as he joined the rush, dodging elbows and weaving through the crowd. He scanned the ingredient table, eyes darting from one container to another. He couldn’t think of anything. His fingers trembled as he grabbed a handful of listone powder and a few vine sap drops randomly.

"Give that!"

"I grabbed the spirit iron first!"

"You already took two of the sa material!"

"Move!"

Within monts, the best materials were gone.

Right then, he felt soone jostle him from the side, and in that mont of distraction, the things he picked were snatched by others. Li Juanxin was stunned and angry. Unable to do anything about it, he just stood on the side waiting for them to finish.

"Who’s that little guy?" A staff mber asked.

Instructor Ye answered: "That’s Li Juanxin, the kid that brings us breakfast and lunch. But what is he doing in the advanced Inscription class?" He asked puzzlingly.

"I recomnded him toInstructor Jin’s class today. As a level one Inscription master, he doesn’t belong in the foundation level." Instructor Hao Ming explained.

"Are you making trouble for Jin again?" Another instructor interjected, eying instructor Hao with a raised eyebrow.

"Why do you keep saying that?? I’m rely giving a chance to a kid with potential."

"Oh I rember now, during the registration, he said he was a level one Inscription master. I just forgot to ntion it." Ms Xiao said.

"See? You guys are wrong about again." Instructor Hao Ming crossed his arms with a hint of defiance in his voice.

anwhile, Li Juanxin was still at a loss.

Huh? Li Cheng was surprised to see Li Juanxin among the participants. He was happy that his brother was promoted to the advanced class so quickly. But seeing him standing there at a loss, he felt heart broken.

After a mont of thought, he shouted: Xinxin! You can do it! Just think of what Dad taught you!"

Li Juanxin jerked his head up at the familiar voice. Right, how could he forget? His father taught him many things, there should be sothing he can think of to save this situation.

When the other students returned to their stations, there were still many ingredients left.

He walked over and examined the remaining items and picked the familiar ones. He picked five black iron ore, blue ridian liron, crystalized spirit salt, ink root powder and moonlight resin.

"What is he doing? Those aren’t good materials." Soone comnted.

Instructor Hao Ming also frowned, saying those things don’t work well together, but he wanted to see what the kid was going to make of it. After all, there are many ways to do things.

Li Juanxin carried the materials back to his station calmly. He was sure these were the right ones. He was a little regretful that he didn’t make an engraving Inscription with his Dad ahead of ti. Things would’ve been much easier, but he listened to Fluffy and slack off.
