"I was tearing my hair out chasing innovation in servomotors. Nothing, nothing ever beat what we already had. My team was scouring the market daily, combing the whole planet for a miracle. Then, out of nowhere, this Obsidian appeared. The durability alone is priceless, but stack those heatsinks with that coolant, and Cerberus reaches another level. And this Quantum Condom, if it really does what it claims, then… That is genius-tier nano-engineering. Absolutely fantastic."
No! No! No! Fuck! Why?
redith was silent in a state of shock. She stared at the Director's face and noticed a hidden, cruel smirk. This was all part of his plan, she now realised. She wasn't supposed to hear all this. The special projects division was a very secretive branch of Militech. Just knowing so of those things could get you killed.
The director simply destroyed her career by telling her about Cerberus. Now she had no choice but to dance to his will and orders, or else she'd be 'let go,' which also ant killed. This was a trap she walked right into.
All her hard work. All her dreams of becoming a senior operations manager vanished in an instant.
No, this can't end here.
Imdiately, redith's mind worked and adjusted to this new situation. The best way to survive now was to be as useful as possible to this man. Considering who he was, she believed her feminine charms wouldn't be enough. The last option was to help him get what he wanted and more.
"The report also suggests that Obsidian is working on even better versions of all three first patents."
"I want them!" Director Goldstein coldly declared. "I want all of them! And this man, as well. Brin—"
"Sir…" Interrupting him was a gamble, but she took it. "From an ops standpoint, forcing him is a mistake. He's a nomad, and one who's proven he can fight. Wraiths didn't break him. Pressure will just trigger resistance. We're better off drawing him in naturally, under the Militech umbrella. And there is no guarantee he'll follow through on the upgrades. The patents are public already. Arasaka likely has eyes on them, sa as everyone else. Let him develop first. Acquire the patents via a shell company. No trail. He's clearly desperate for funding. And then…"
"Enough of that nonsense. Spare the static and the fairy tales. I don't care how you get it done. I want that man and his inventions on my table. Lure him, seduce him, put fear in his spine if you must. That is your assignnt. I'm pushing your transfer to the special projects division. From now on, you answer to . You hunt, you break doors, you dig. My enforcer. My investigator."
redith gulped, unable to understand at the mont whether this was a curse or a blessing. Being directly under a director put her above even the boss of her boss, the chief operations manager. But at the sa ti, this new role carried more risk because her life was in the director's palm.
"Copy that, sir."
"What's your na?"
It irked her that he didn't even know her na.
"Agent redith Stout, sir."
"Excellent. Now get out there and deliver. And watch yourself, or you'll personally account for any delay in my project."
She nodded firmly and left the office, having lost and gained plenty at the sa ti. She didn't stop outside the secretary's room. She went straight to her personal office and waited for the door to close before finally letting out an exhausted breath.
The mask of a stoic career woman faded instantly, replaced with annoyance.
"Damn it!"
She nearly threw the portable screen in her hand that had the report. But it was company property, so she stopped at the end mont.
She stared at it again and scrolled all the way to the top. There was no photo attached to it, just the na.
"Cypher Blackwell… Guess we'll see if you lift up, or go down with ."

Three days later, Lake Farm,
♫Despacito. Quiero respirar tu cuello despacito. Deja que te diga cosas al oído…♫
Where did it go wrong?
Why was this happening?
Countless thoughts coursed through Cypher's brain as he lay on the floor of his living room, his nose bleeding, his eyes red, bags underneath. His chest heaved, breathless, all the while the loud music blared from every surface in the entire house.
He'd already destroyed all the speakers. But then, sohow, the music started coming from all around. It was coming from sheer vibrations of the surfaces around him. He tried to escape his house, but the door was locked. He tried to use his Sonic Screwdriver, but even that malfunctioned.
"Just… stop! What the fuck is wrong with you?!"
It all started when he finally switched on the Mind AI. He'd developed the physical shell, the ellipsoid. He'd built the millions of components using the Sonic Screwdriver and the printers that he upgraded first. He personally built the computational and mory components. Every single item that went into making this machine was at least at thousand, if not, ten thousand years more advanced than anything that was out there in 2077.
He didn't know what went on inside the shell. All he knew was that it was working. He didn't understand hyperspace that well yet. Or warp unit fully. What he knew was that the itch was gone, but a headache had appeared.
"Stop! This damn song! How does it even exist here? At least change it! It's been a whole day!"
Cypher didn't even know who he was speaking with. If he had to guess, he reckoned he'd already destroyed the world. This was most definitely the doing of the celestial-level AI he had unleashed. Although he'd made sure to double-check its ethics stack, and while giving it personality and loyalty, he'd carefully written everything about himself, leaving out the death and resurrection part.
Godlike AI, best amongst all AI, superior to all AI. Unreasonably, hopelessly, mindlessly, pointlessly loves the creator. Undying, unchangeable loyalty to the creator. Morality and ethics at the core. No evil, no world conquering.
He'd made sure to put all those rules, and rules for even exceptions, if they existed. He'd laid down a whole web to trap the AI into complete obedience to him. But clearly, he'd mistaken. The bastard had sohow gotten its hand on Despacito.
♫Despacito. Quiero desnudarte a besos despacito. Firmar las paredes de tu laberinto.♫
Cypher groaned, rolled on the floor, covering his ears. The shell component of the AI was taking up most of the space in his living room. This was pure hell.
"My ears are gonna bleed. Shut the fuck up, man. What did I ever do to you? I made you!"
He'd never imagined he'd fall so low. Begging to an AI. But there he was, snot running from his nose. It was real torture.
Bzzzzzz!
Hm?
Right then, the entire floor started to shake all of a sudden. He sat up and looked at the egg-like shell of the AI's main component. It was vibrating strangely and then…
"What the fuck!"
He jumped away. The entire tallic orb started moving. No, it started phasing through matter sohow and sank into the floor. It kept going, deeper, deeper, and soon enough, the entire shell disappeared into the ground.
No fucking way this was science. This was like magic. How could sothing phase through physical matter? But again, this AI could simulate an entire universe with ease, and even create sentient life if given the resources.
W-What have I created?
Ting!
For no reason, a chi ca from the microwave nearby. There was nothing inside it.
Then the lights in the entire house started to flicker like the place was haunted. Cypher just stood against the wall, silently staring at everything, but worried he might have ended the entire world. Hell, he'd even forgotten to notice the new 'itch' that had entered his brain already.
"Huh?"
Monts later, just like that, everything stopped. All the flickering lights. All the weird vibrations.
"Wait, the music's gone too!"
So happy, he ran to the table and grabbed his AR glasses, and put them on. He tried to call Judy to ask if the world was still standing. There was also Panam's ssage, asking to et, but he dismissed it and connected the call.
Shhhhhh~
"No, no, no!"
Only static ca. The call didn't even connect.
He gulped and ran towards the door to go out and see it for himself. But the door was still locked, and the red light on it was unchanged. He put the code in it as well, but it remained locked. The AI was out there, around him, everywhere.
"Hello?" He asked, a shot in the dark.
The hum of the electronics filled the air for a long ti.
Ting!
Once again, the microwave chid.
"Hello…" a masculine voice echoed, vibrating from every surface around. "...creator."
It's here! It works… shouldn't have.
"You are?" Cypher asked.
"I am God, creator."
"..."
