--- Kat ---

When it was ti to go chat with Grandma they still hadn’t worked out what the issue with the spell was. Lily thought that one of the runes was slightly wrong. Not enough to make the spell fail, but enough to make it much less effective. Either an issue with her mory, which Kat doubted, or the copy in the book was slightly wrong. Sadly, they hadn’t kept the book in question around considering the limited space so it was just sothing Lily was going to need to bash her head into or give up on.

When Kat was about to head over to see Grandma, she ca shuffling down the path and gave Kat a nod. A quick kiss for Lily and Kat was moving over to the old woman. "Hi Grandma, thanks for coming back here. I was just about to go see if you’d arrived,"

Grandma shrugged. "I ran into Hedera on my way over and she pointed out where you were. It was only a little bit more of a walk so I didn’t mind,"

"Thanks for that," said Kat. *Especially considering how much shit you were giving Skrool and Pol about how ’frail’ you were supposedly. I don’t know how worried I should be about that but I appreciate you went to the trouble instead of making it my problem.*

"Eh, anyway. I’ve got a list of things here for you," Grandma said as she rattled the stack of paper. "What I’ve managed to sort out is how much they’re paying for any one task. I’ll give you the orbs for them, and then I’ll chase them up for those later. I’ve got a decent stockpile and they all know better than to cheat so I’ll be fine."

"Um... are you sure?" asked Kat uncertainly. "Also you do realise I’ll be doing these during the night, likely until midnight?"

"That’s fine," said Grandma with a dismissive wave. "I’m up ever day at one in the morning for a small routine. If you catch during that I can pay you then, or you can co and see before you leave in the morning if you don’t feel confident in catching . I live a few tents down from Del, so you should be able to find ,"

"Ah, yes," admitted Kat with a wry smile.

Grandma grinned a toothy smile. Kat was expected to see a few missing or yellowed teeth when Grandma let her mouth be seen... but they were all a pristine white and in good condition. "Excellent Kat. I trust you to get at least so of these done. Just keep the list, this is a copy, and mark down what’s done. If there’s sothing that you only do part of, or are confused about mark it down with sothing else and we can go over that when we next et up,"

Kat nodded slowly. "Well... we do plan to leave so not sure what good that will do..."

"It’s so I can slap the idiots," interjected Grandma.

"What?" asked Kat confused.

"I asked for clear, concise jobs that didn’t need extra explanation. The only help you should need is the map of the town I added to the back. I’ve referenced that a few tis in the job description so you can find your way around. I’ve made sure all of my descriptions are easy to follow and make sense... if you get confused? Soone didn’t report the request correctly," explained Grandma, with a severe look on her face.

"Right..." said Kat slowly as she reached her hand out for the paper. Grandma handed them over without incident, nodded, and then started to shuffle back up the path. Kat glanced down at the stack in hand for a few monts before glancing back at Lily. "Are you good for to get started now? Or should I wait for a bit until you’re ready to sleep or eat dinner or sothing,"

"I’m fine if you head off. I’m just ssing around at this point. I don’t want to make any extre and potentially dangerous changes to the spell while in the tournant. I was just hoping I’d get so inspiration and practice in. Feel free to get started. Our link let’s us keep in contact so I’m really not worried. Especially considering that little advantage I have at the mont," said Lily with a smile.

Kat bowed lowly, "I acknowledge my magical superior,"

Lily blushed, knowing that Kat had intended to say that because of the bracelet... and then realised it was true in other ways as well. It was a sincere complint, and nearly had Lily sprinting over to give Kat a proper kiss before she left... but the maids had been hovering around so much and the idea quickly got pushed aside as too embarrassing.

So of course, Kat, who was listening to this ntal comntary, slid back up over to Lily and gave her a deep kiss in response. Dazing Lily a bit, and allowing her to fly off with a laugh without being stopped or feeling guilty for leaving Lily behind to work on her spells. She was much safer at the mont, what with her power and Thy watching over everyone. Besides, Kat had work to do.

As Kat flew into town she looked over the list to see what sort of jobs she was expected to do. A few pages in and Kat quickly realised the answer. Roof cleaning. Apparently it was a pain to clean the tents when you couldn’t fly, which Kat supposed made a lot of sense. She had a massive amount of roof cleaning jobs to get to all bundled together. At first, Kat didn’t understand the order of them. They were all under R for Roof Cleaning but that didn’t help her...

Until she checked the map a few tis and realised that Grandma had plotted out a proper route for her already. Simply going from top to bottom would lead her through a mostly optimal path as far as she can tell. It was an ideal thing to start with... if it wasn’t for the fact that Kat could see she was specifically asked to start with this after sundown. Kat wasn’t sure WHY that note was there. Surely they’d want this done before they went to sleep?

Regardless, the note was there in clear English thanks to her translation ability and there was no reason for it to be so completely wrong so Kat had to respect it. Instead, she looked through the rest of her options and tried to see if there was any similar bundles of tasks.

There were a few ’weeding’ requests but checking the map revealed that none of them were anywhere close together so she’d be wasting a bit of ti travelling around for that. Plus, they weren’t great pay. Neither was the roof cleaning, but at least with that Kat expected to be able to go through all of them quickly. Weeding, as shown before, required a fair bit more effort to do properly and was high up on her list of ’to skip’ chores.

That’s when Kat noticed a particular chore on the list. ’Dog cleaning’. Not astounding, but the reward for it was much higher than the others at three orbs for what Kat would assu was an easy mission. Reading the description beside it revealed the issue. The family had all the cleaning supplies but the dog was massive. Probably too strong for them and not fond of baths. Seed like a good place to start though.

Kat diverted her flight path to the tent in question and soon landed outside. Imdiately, the dog in question ca barrelling around the corner. It looked like soone had taken a Saint Bernard and pumped it up a bit. Kat was smacked by a ball of fluff as it jumped at her, not aggressively Kat could tell that much... but it was huge.

Kat had to quickly decide between standing her ground and potentially injuring the dog or accepting her fate. Sadly, if she wanted those orbs there was an obvious answer and so a mont later she was trapped under a massive ball of fluff. The dog let out a deep, happy bark. Pleased that it had managed to ’catch’ her.

Kat sighed and pushed against the ground, raising both herself and the dog up. It looked around wildly as if astounded this was possible but didn’t do anything aggressive. Not even when Kat got to her feet and started to move to the water trough they had to bath the massive thing. Kat waited for it to react poorly... but nope. Even when she plopped it down in the tub it was still fine.

Kat tensed as she turned on the water... but the dog just continued to look at her, with big eyes. No barking or aggressive monts. Kat shrugged and got started. About twenty seconds into the wash, the dog started to shake, throwing water everywhere. Kat just let it happen. Once the dog had finished, it turned to look at her, and barked proudly. *Hmm... I an I can see how this is annoying but like... it’s not that bad?* Kat just shrugged and got back to the wash. No reason to let a little water stop her.
