--- Kat ---
Ramor bustled them inside and called over the team’s dic. They were a tired looking elven woman. An extrely tired looking elven woman. Kat wouldn’t call her ’ugly’ but without scarring she was the closest thing that she’d even seen an elf get to that description.
Angie was her na, and she just looked... not quite sick but certainly not well either. She had DEEP bags under her eyes that went far enough down she could smile and nearly touch them, even if her eyes were clear instead of bloodshot, it wasn’t made better with her hair.
Despite not having any wrinkles, well, none that the massive bags didn’t generate, her hair looked terribly cared for. It was in strands of varying thickness that rolled down her head, except, they weren’t together at all. It was individual ’strands’ of bound hair that just looked wrong to Kat. There was no care put into its maintenance and you could see dirt and gri mixed in at a few points.
Her outfit was all leather, unlike the heavier duty guard uniform and she had two bags of equipnt around each shoulder. Her hunched posture and small fra made it seem like the weight of those bags would pull her over at any mont. "Um... is she going to be ok to even examine anyone? She looks like she’s about to fall over..." said Kat.
Angie’s eyes slowly rose to et Kat’s gaze. "Um... sorry if that’s offensive pointing it out or sothing?"
"No, no, I know what I look like," croaked the elf before straightening up a bit and pulling out a flask of water from under one of the bags on her side. Downing it greedily she wiped a hand across her mouth and turned back to Kat. "Can’t sleep you see. Not sure if it’s a curse, or so deeper malady but I barely sleep. It’s been about a month. Hopefully I’ll crash soon..."
Kat slowly moved to Steel who shrugged. "There’s no rules or laws against it as long as she’s not constantly working. I’ve known about her condition for a while and the compromise that we ca to is she’s not allowed in active combat, or to do serious operations outside of ergency situations unless she’s slept that week,"
"Still doesn’t sound great... for anyone really," mumbled Kat.
"Hey, if you can figure out so way to get to sleep, I’d pay just about anything for that. I’ve not slept properly since I was twenty," sighed Angie.
Kat humd a bit at the offer. *Could my dream mist work? I an, that’s not its intended purpose... but then again, I’ve mostly just ASSUD at its intended purpose. Perhaps I can twist it a bit to put her to sleep? Look at it from the angle of ’so I can enter her mind’ even if I don’t plan on saying long?*
"After you finish up, maybe while the interrogation is going on I have sothing I could try. Wouldn’t take long to see if it works, and I really have no idea... but I doubt it’s been tried before," offered Kat.
Angie shrugged, "Why not. I’m curious as to what you’re going to try, though if it’s sothing attempted before I’ll ntion it,"
Kat nodded, as they got to the interrogation room. The thief was dropped off, Angie remained behind while Ramor lead her and Steel to his room. Unlike Steel’s claid office filled with armour, Ramor had a bunch of artwork up. So of it was fancy... but most of it was fairly ’normal’. Kat could even see a few childish scribbles hung up on the wall.
None seed to be given any importance. They were all jamd together to fit best. Ther was plenty of space towards the back, it was the entrance and most of the side that was taken up with things. There were all sorts of different landscapes, self portraits, and strange surrealist things up on the wall. So were easily identified as the sa artists, others were tougher to say. The office was also quite well kept and the chairs were very plush.
Kat sat down, and Steel went to as well, when Ramor glared at him. "What?"
"I tell you every ti. Take off your armour first man. My chairs aren’t enchanted to keep themselves in good condition against that sort of abuse," claid Ramor as he clapped, vanishing his armour to... sowhere.
Steel rolled his eyes. "You just like showing off that enchantnt you smug bastard." Even still, Steel did start to unhook his armour sowhat. He only took off the full plate layer on top, keeping the rest.
As Steel was doing that, Ramor turned to Kat. "You really think you can get Angie to sleep?"
"Well..." Kat began slowly. "I’ve got an ability that lets get into people’s dreams. I’m thinking I can use that to put her to sleep, so I can duck in, and then imdiately duck out of her dreams. She should stay asleep afterwards, especially considering how tired she seems to be,"
"Hmm... well not a good long term solution but I suppose if it gets her even one night of acceptable sleep it’s fine. Perhaps it will give people ideas on how to enchant sothing for her. If it works and you don’t mind a bit of poking and prodding?" asked Ramor
Kat wasn’t sure, but several things crossed her mind. *Well... hang on. Does she actually have an issue with sleeping? I’d sort of... gotten lost in this scenario a bit, what with the ’real’ thieves and whatnot. So does she actually have issues with sleeping? If she does maybe that’s why she accepted the part? To get a chance to sleep properly? Not sure you can really fake that level of ’tired and done with everything’ that she has.
Plus, what this ALSO does, is gives an excuse to ask around a bit with at least ONE of the major enchanters without being suspicious. I won’t bring it up in front of Ramor but Steel might enjoy having a good excuse to poke around. Especially if I take Lily with , she can do most of the looking around.*
"Sounds good. I won’t be in the city too long, but I can make ti I’m sure," Kat agreed. Steel gave her a bit of a look, but what it ant, she didn’t know. It was too quick to be sure and she didn’t want to spend forever replaying the mont in her head to try and work it out.
Once Steel finished with his armour and sat down, Ramor asked for the full details. Kat went first, narrating the cri itself, talking about what information she knew. Skipping basically nothing, and still being asked to clarify a few things by Ramor. Once that was done, it was ti for Steel to step up. Steel went over the details like the thing he found out about the lock, several things he noted about thief’s equipnt, and even pulled out so of the arrows from the attacking archer. Kat didn’t even know when he picked those up.
Eventually, a bit before the end of the explanation, Angie knocked on the door and was called in where she waited for Steel to finish his rundown before announcing her findings. "Whatever was used is fairly strong stuff... but also not that long lasting. It’s basically already out of her system and we could forcibly wake her up in a variety of ways from just slapping her lightly, squeezing her nose, water, slling salts. Really however you want to play this, it’s pretty safe."
Ramor nodded, "Alright, I’ll go get started on that part. Find out what I can about what’s going on. Steel, you’ll be with . You two, feel free to use my office for this test as long as nothing will get damaged. The chair are quite comfy after all,"
Angie nodded as the other two walked out. Though Steel did glance back at his armour a few tis before deciding not to bother with it just yet. "So what do you have for ?" asked the elf.
Kat explained what she’d already told Ramor. "Urgh. I hate that it’s nothing long term but it does seem like it could work. Let just get out of all this first..."
Angie dumped her bags on the floor, then took of her leathers and glanced down at her rough shirt and pants before shrugging and throwing those off two. Kat gave her a deadpan look for that. "What? Aren’t you a succubus of so sort? Surely it would work better if I was naked."
"I’m asexual so this isn’t doing anything for but yes I AM a succubus. Let’s just... get this out of the way," mumbled Kat.
Agnie didn’t even bother to respond, she just waited for Kat to start her attempt. So, with her mind firmly fixed on the idea of putting Angie to sleep, Kat let herself turn into smoke and pour into the elf.
