The shadow of a bat flitted across the window, and Theodore's movent at the window abruptly froze.

Fortunately, that shadow, like a midnight legend, did not linger long in front of his window.

The dark figure, like a ghost, lightly landed on a Gotham gargoyle, and with a few fluid leaps, gradually disappeared from Theodore's sight.

"Phew—"

Theodore let out a long breath.

Only then did he realize that he had been so tense he hadn't dared to breathe.

Bats, those damned bats, the large bats scattered throughout the manor.

Past mories were like an unyielding haze, wrapping around his mouth and nose, making his lungs feel a suffocating pressure.

Just as the English believe that encountering a black dog brings bad luck.

Bumping into a bat before even acting, in Theodore's opinion, was really not a good on.

But he also had no habit of procrastinating.

Confirming that no one was around, Theodore finally leaped down from the windowsill.

His window faced a patch of grass, where Theodore had seen several children burying nails during the day—ah, Gotham orphans.

Theodore narrowly avoided the rusty nail tips, then, in one smooth motion, flipped over the orphanage wall covered in broken glass.

Since Timothy was unwilling to take the initiative, the task of exposing it would have to fall to soone else.

However, just like before, when he subtly pushed for additional health check-ups at school, Theodore still prioritized staying hidden this ti.

After all, no one would be foolish enough to report Bruce Wayne by na, right?

Theodore walked with his hands in his pockets, a black mask on his face, and pulled his baseball cap further down.

He weaved through the alleys of Gotham; in just ten minutes, he had already deftly avoided a gun deal, two high drug addicts, and three drunks throwing up together behind a bar.

Finally, he stopped at an alley entrance perated with the strong sll of garbage.

This was the place.

Secluded, quiet, and a very good location.

And there was only one person present.

Standing in the alley was a thinly clad woman with heavy makeup.

Even a child under ten could accurately identify her profession at a glance.

"Good evening, madam."

A slightly hoarse voice sounded behind Lina.

At the sa ti, a cold, hard object silently pressed against her lower back.

Lina instinctively raised her hands.

The woman quickly said, "I haven't had any business today. If you want money, I have twenty dollars hidden in my shoe. Take it, just don't hurt , okay?"

The robber behind her was suspiciously silent for a mont.

"Thank you for your generosity, madam, but I am not here for money today."

Judging from where the voice ca from, he seed a bit short.

Lina quickly said, "Then what do you want? A free one? No problem. Right now? Here? I have an umbrella in my fanny pack, I promise I won't look back the whole ti."

"..."

There it was again, the robber fell into that long silence.

Short and small % @ &! Lina cursed in her heart: His speech is intermittent, like a limp water gun nozzle, serves him right for having premature ejaculation!

"Actually, madam, I want to ask you for a favor," the man behind her said unhurriedly.

Lina's heart suddenly tightened.

In Gotham, these inexplicable requests were far more dangerous than robbery and tricking soone into sex.

At the sa ti, a large coat was draped over Lina's shoulders, though the cold, hard object hidden beneath the coat remained in place.

"The paynt is in the coat pocket, madam. Please put on this school uniform jacket, tie your hair in a style you don't usually wear, put on a mask, and go to the anonymous phone booth two blocks away to make a call."

"Who should I call?" Lina asked.

She tried to remain calm, struggling to keep her voice from trembling.

"—Gotham Children's Protection Association," the other party replied.

"..."

My ears, and the other person's brain, one of them must be wrong, Lina thought.

"Who?" she asked incredulously.

The other party: "Gotham Children's Protection Association."

"..."

Alright, it seems the problem is with the other person's brain.

Lina stood numbly in the alley, listening as the other party instructed her on how to make a report call, posing as "a high school girl who just started school and accidentally discovered that Tim from the next class, Class Three, has been abused by his adoptive father."

It was too bizarre, everything that happened that night was too bizarre.

Only now did Lina belatedly realize that the mysterious robber behind her, despite his best efforts to lower his voice, still had the tender voice of a young boy.

Also, his slightly short stature might not be because he was short in all aspects.

"Are you Tim?"

"I am not."

"Is Tim your friend?"

"He is not."

"Alright, then is he your lover?"

"Even less so—don't ask anymore, madam, I just happened to see it."

This bizarre night suddenly seed not so bad.

Lina wrinkled her face and looked down at the school uniform draped over her shoulders: "If you weren't pointing sothing hard at my waist right now, I'd definitely think you were a saint descended from heaven."

"If you are willing to help, I can be a saint right now."

Lina smiled, about to turn around and say sothing, when the moonlight spilling down suddenly dimd.

A long shadow, like a strange legend from a nightmare story, had arrived at the alley entrance at so unknown ti, silently covering both of them.

A terrifying, low, certainly hellish, voice, like a throat cancer attack, echoed in this deep and filthy alley.

"What are you doing?"

Behind her, the young man who had been pressing against her seed to have completely frozen.

Lina heard the young man behind her let out a sowhat broken grunt, or rather, a moan.

If he wasn't the one holding the weapon, she might have mistaken that sound for a cry for help.

Alas, little boy, ddling little boy.

At crucial monts, saving the world still falls to won.

Lina smiled, turned around, and gracefully wrapped her arm around the other party's neck, while also gripping his hand under the school uniform.

"I'm sorry, just a little bit of fun… I took his money."

Lina smiled softly at Gotham's most mysterious and terrifying legend.

She was not afraid of Batman.
