"I’m going to rest now," Huo Jinnan walked straight toward the bedroom.
The little guy looked at his back, frowning slightly, "You, you’re not hurt, are you?"
"No."
Huo Jinnan entered the bedroom and turned to glance at the little guy, "Go to sleep early."
The little guy humd in agreent, dragging his feet back to his own bedroom. Thinking about today’s events, even if he was Huanhuan, he would have fallen for Huo Jinnan, right?
Then he thought about that old woman calling Huanhuan Huo Jinnan’s lover, and he tugged at his pajamas hard. That couldn’t be true, could it?
It must be that stupid woman’s mistake!
But what if it was true?
What about him and Mom?
The little guy returned to his bedroom, sat on the bed, swinging his little legs gently, pursed his lips firmly, and after much thought, decided it was better to clear things up. No matter what, for his and his mom’s sake, he had to talk to Huo Jinnan!
Huo Jinnan was hard to communicate with, but he could ask Huanhuan first!
Just thinking about the confession at the mont of life or death still made his heart race.
The little guy picked up his phone and glanced at the ti. Huanhuan probably wasn’t asleep yet, right?
He sent a text ssage, "Huanhuan, that stupid woman said you’re Huo Jinnan’s lover. She must have gotten it wrong, right?"
Che Huan was in the hospital room, accompanying Wen Ru. Hearing the text ssage alert, she picked up her phone and glanced at it, replying, "Yes."
The little guy imdiately felt better, "Huanhuan, go to sleep early, good night."
"Good night."
Che Huan sent a text back and looked toward Wen Ru.
Wen Ru looked at Che Huan, her expression weary, "Now that you’re back, don’t go to Hong Kong again."
Che Huan smiled, "Yeah, I’ll stay in Li City with you."
Wen Ru looked at Che Huan, thinking back to those days. She was angry, but she couldn’t bla it all on Huanhuan!
Looking back on it, considering what Huanhuan said and the suffering she had endured over the years, Wen Ru lifted her arm with difficulty and tidied Che Huan’s hair, "Huanhuan, Mom owes you an apology."
Che Huan didn’t quite understand, "Mom, I don’t bla you, I bla myself. It was my own doing."
Wen Hua and Bi Fu watched from the side, glancing at each other and keeping silent.
Wen Ru looked at Che Huan, "You should rest early, be careful with the wound on your wrist."
"I’ll stay here and take care of you tonight." Che Huan sat there, looking at Wen Ru, who seed much older than she had been in years past, wrinkles crowding the corners of her eyes.
Wen Ru shook her head, "I’m fine, just so minor injuries. You all should rest. It’s been several hours since you ca from Hong Kong; you must be tired."
Wen Hua ca over, his hand resting on Che Huan’s shoulder, "Huanhuan, go and rest with your aunt and Wen Nuan. I’ve booked a hotel; I’ll stay here and take care of your mom."
Che Huan remained silent. After all these years without the courage to return, she had not expected her first return to involve her mother lying in a hospital bed.
Wen Hua looked back at Bi Fu, "You take the two kids and go rest."
Bi Fu ca over and looked at Che Huan, "Huanhuan, let’s go. Tomorrow during the day, let your uncle rest, and we will co and take care of your mom."
Che Huan insisted for a while but ultimately couldn’t withstand everyone’s persuasion and followed Bi Fu back to the hotel.
Alone on the big bed in the standard room, she stared blankly at the ceiling.
After a while, she closed her eyes. She didn’t even take off her clothes or turn off the light; she just drifted off into a drowsy sleep.
All night, nightmares haunted her—Li Li driving a car straight at her and the little guy!
The next day, she woke up to find it was already broad daylight!
Upon arriving at the hospital room and seeing her stepfather and the old Mrs. Che, Che Huan greeted them politely, "Dad, Grandma."
