Wen Hua watched for a while, recalling the scene from that day, his eyes somber. He said nothing and turned to leave.
After so ti had passed, Che Huan looked up to find her uncle gone.
She turned to Huo Jinnan, "You..."
Huo Jinnan took her hand and placed it back on his arm, walking with her toward the elevator.
Just as they reached the ground floor, Che Huan received a text ssage from her uncle, simple and to the point, "Gu Jizhou is at the hotel entrance."
Che Huan lowered her head to read the ssage and before she could react, she looked up and locked eyes with Gu Jizhou, reflexively turning to glance at the man beside her.
Huo Jinnan wrapped an arm around Che Huan’s waist and headed straight for the revolving door.
Through that layer of relationship, feeling Gu Jizhou’s icy gaze, each step felt like a rmaid walking on knife edges.
Instinctively, she clung tighter to Huo Jinnan’s arm. Would there be a day when she, like a rmaid, would turn into foam?
Seeing them exit, Gu Jizhou stared at Huo Jinnan and Che Huan, his body’s arteries seemingly calcifying. He wanted to speak, but he didn’t know what to say!
Even if he knew it was him, not seeing with his own eyes, he could still lie to himself, telling himself it was all speculation!
But at this mont, seeing it with his own eyes, all the anger and resentnt mixed with too many indescribable emotions surged in his heart, tornting it.
Huo Jinnan looked at Gu Jizhou and asked in a deep voice, "Haven’t returned to Hong Kong yet?"
"It will take so ti." Gu Jizhou stood there, not knowing how he had spoken, nor could he hear clearly what he had said, standing like a robot, having forgotten how to react.
Huo Jinnan glanced at Che Huan, "This is Gu Jizhou, my nephew."
Che Huan bit her lip, looked at Huo Jinnan, her breath uneven. She then looked in Gu Jizhou’s direction, recalling the words he had said in the hospital restroom, and smiled gracefully at Gu Jizhou, "Hello, I’m Che Huan."
Gu Jizhou stood there, silent, staring intently at Che Huan.
What had she just said?
"Hello, I’m Che Huan."
"Hello, I’m Che Huan."
...
He listened so carefully, yet it seed as if he heard nothing at all. His ears hurt as if scraped by so sharp instrunt, buzzing incessantly.
Huo Jinnan glanced at Gu Jizhou, "Jizhou, this is Xiaowei’s mother."
Gu Jizhou stood there, his blood suddenly freezing.
What had he just said?
Xiaowei’s mother?
Did he know already?
Looking toward Huo Jinnan, Gu Jizhou’s face grew paler and paler.
Huo Jinnan’s eyes grew cold as he glanced at Gu Jizhou, "We have things to do, so we’ll take our leave first."
As he finished speaking, he looked down at Che Huan, his long fingers brushing past her cheek, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, "Let’s go."
Che Huan stood there, her face suddenly flushing red!
Stepping aside, Huo Jinnan opened the car door, gently pressing on her shoulder.
Che Huan sat in the passenger seat, reaching out to touch the seat belt when her hand touched his. She quickly withdrew her hand, looking up at Huo Jinnan, thinking of the words he had spoken earlier, was he really planning to let her be the little guy’s stepmother?
Huo Jinnan secured the seat belt for Che Huan, closed the door, and walked toward the driver’s side.
Gu Jizhou stood not far away, watching intently as if his eyes could burn holes.
Only when the black Bentley had driven away did he co back to his senses, closing his eyes, feeling as if he could not breathe!
