An hour later, Huo Bei called back, "Sir, I couldn’t find the mayor’s number, but I got his assistant’s."

Huo Jinnan stared at the box of mooncakes in front of him, took a piece, and tasted a bite, the overly familiar flavor chewed in his mouth, indescribable.
After hanging up the call and hearing the ssage alert, he opened it, glanced over, and dialed the number.
It connected quickly, and upon hearing the voice on the other end, Huo Jinnan asked in a low, resonant voice, "Is this Assistant Fang?"
Fang Zheng replied formally, "Yes, may I know who is calling?"
Huo Jinnan’s lips were tightly pursed, "Huo Jinnan."
"Oh, it’s Mr. Huo," Fang Zheng said excitably, clearly a fan of Mr. Huo, "What can I do for you, Mr. Huo?"
Hearing the slight change in Fang Zheng’s tone, Huo Jinnan glanced at the mooncakes and said, "I heard that the new mayor was distributing mooncakes to the people of Hong Kong."
Fang Zheng chuckled easily, "Not that I’ve heard of. I’m the mayor’s assistant and nothing of the sort has co up. You must be mistaken, Mr. Huo."
Huo Jinnan, noting that Fang Zheng wasn’t speaking bureaucratese to him, rembered the colonel, "Right, the other day my dog damaged the mayor’s car. I’m responsible for it."
Fang Zheng laughed, "Mr. Huo, that’s not necessary. Mayor Jin didn’t mind much, and to this day he hasn’t gone to get it repaired."
Huo Jinnan did not reply for a long ti; a normal person riddled with such an unexpected incident should not have reacted like this—this Jin Bo—
"When will Mayor Jin have ti for a al together?" he inquired.

Fang Zheng held the phone, trying to think of sothing to say to his idol, and the line went quiet.
Huo Jinnan frowned, not hanging up. Sothing was amiss with this assistant too.
"Well then, Assistant Fang, you must be busy, sorry for disturbing you."
After hanging up, he sat there looking at the mooncakes for a while, then made a call to Qin Shaojin, "Send the colonel over."
