5:12 AM
Friday.
Wang Ye woke up before dawn.
He glanced at the sleep monitoring interface on his wristwatch.
[Total Sleep: 4 hours 25 minutes]
[Sleep Duration: 0:45-5:10]
Wang Ye went to the bathroom and scrubbed his scalp with clean water, washing away the dandruff.
He then returned to his desk, ready to start training his skills in using Telekinesis.
He used Telekinesis to manipulate a pencil, continuously copying his own na on paper.
He found that writing with Telekinesis was a significant test of his Telekinesis skills, thus the training was particularly effective.
Within a couple of days, his handwriting went from crooked cursive to rather neat regular script. Although so details were still not perfect, it was already more proper than most elentary school students’ handwriting.
And as his handwriting beca neater, his Telekinesis power also beca increasingly impressive.
Initially, exerting all his effort, he could only penetrate a single sheet of paper with the pencil. Now, he could force the pencil through five or six sheets. If this power were applied to human skin, it would at least leave a noticeable blood mark.
By the ti Wang Ye finished his Telekinesis training, it was already six thirty.
His mind, after long-concentration training, was sowhat fatigued.
Wang Ye took a deep breath, sat on the chair, and closed his eyes to rest for a bit, taking advantage of his fatigue to nap for a while.
By around seven o’clock, he reopened his eyes.
Picking up the phone on the desk, he intended to search for tourist spots in Shenzhen, planning his day’s travel itinerary.
Just as Wang Ye was exploring various scenic spots in Shenzhen.
Suddenly.
Xiao Yun sent a ssage on WeChat.
[Xiao Yun: Chairman Wang, are you free today? How about playing badminton?]
Wang Ye typed a string of words in reply,
[Wangquan Baye: Last ti I broke two of your rackets, I’m too embarrassed to play again.]
[Xiao Yun: It’s okay. They were cheap rackets, anyway, it’s not just the two of us this ti, I also invited two other friends, they are both First-level Athletes in badminton. And we can play doubles, it’s more fun than singles!]
[Xiao Yun: I feel a bit embarrassed to ntion this, but after I told them about you piercing through the racket last ti, they’ve been eager to et you.]
Wang Ye imdiately understood.
It wasn’t Xiao Yun who wanted to play with him, but the other two professional players who wanted to challenge him after hearing about his feats.
Wang Ye didn’t mind this at all.
After all, he had long wanted to play with professional players.
After figuring this out, Wang Ye replied,
[Wangquan Baye: Sure, but I don’t have a racket, I might have to borrow yours. Don’t worry, if I break it, I’ll pay for it...]
[Xiao Yun: No worries, no worries, I’ve already prepared four extra rackets in the trunk, just waiting for you to showcase your Divine power! By the way, where are you staying now? I’ll drive to pick you up later.]
Wang Ye thanked him and sent the location of his hotel.
··························
In less than half an hour, Xiao Yun drove to the hotel downstairs and sent a ssage.
Wang Ye imdiately checked out of the hotel and went downstairs to get into Xiao Yun’s car.
Xiao Yun’s car was probably priced around 300,000 to 400,000 yuan, showing that his family was quite well-off. But it also made sense. How could soone from a poor family work in a nearly stipend-free Tai Chi Association in a city like Shenzhen as a secretary?
After a ten-minute car ride.
They arrived at the entrance of the sa badminton hall as last ti.
Xiao Yun parked the car in the parking lot.
He took out the four rackets from the trunk and led Wang Ye into the badminton hall.
Xiao Yun found his friends in the hall, exchanged a few words with them, and then acted as an interdiary to make a simple introduction.
After hearing about Wang Ye’s accomplishnts, the two "professional players" looked Wang Ye up and down with astonished eyes and exclaid:
"Amazing, brother, not only did you break the marathon world record, but you also beca a Tai Chi Grandmaster! How did you train to be so incredible!"
"Let’s exchange WeChat! I hope to consult with you more on sports in the future!"
"Yes, let’s exchange and improve together."
Wang Ye took out his phone to scan the code, adding the two as WeChat friends.
After exchanging a few pleasantries on the spot.
They all picked up their rackets and began to warm up.
The rules of badminton doubles are quite simple.
Typically, 4 players are divided into two teams for competition, with the two teams located on the left and right sides of the net, playing within their respective areas.
Simply put, it ans turning the usual singles match into a four-person ga.
With a familiarity between Wang Ye and Xiao Yun, they naturally beca teammates.
The two professional players stood on the other side of the net.
To onlookers, an amateur duo like Wang Ye and Xiao Yun facing two professional players in doubles might prove a bit daunting.
It’s important to know that doubles and singles in badminton are two different concepts. In singles, you mostly just need to worry about how to return the shuttlecock alone. But in doubles, you have to account for your partner as well and work in coordination with them.
Therefore, to play doubles well, usually both players need to have rich playing experience and skill, while also requiring a certain degree of tacit understanding. Otherwise, mistakes can easily happen, or worse, they could injure their partner.
The two professional players across had abundant experience, making them less prone to errors.
On the other hand, Wang Ye and Xiao Yun, being amateur players, were more likely to lack coordination.
After thinking for a while, Wang Ye advised Xiao Yun, "Xiao Yun, when the shuttle cos to my side, try not to get close, I might accidentally hit you."
"Okay! I’ll try." Xiao Yun nodded.
The match started swiftly.
Xiao Yun served first.
He tossed the shuttlecock with his left hand, and with his right hand, he swiftly flicked the racket, sending the shuttlecock flying out.
Pop!
The shuttlecock traced a parabolic path in the air.
The opponent’s frontline player reacted quickly, stepping forward imdiately, swinging the racket for a counterattack. The shuttlecock, hit by the racket, swiftly descended towards the rear-right court on Xiao Yun’s side.
Xiao Yun quickly reacted, dashing to the right, barely receiving the shot. His movents seed awkward and slow compared to the swift agility of the professional players on the opposite side.
The two professional players on the oppositeend coordinated perfectly, one at the front and one at the back, with impeccable cooperation.
Although several rallies had gone back and forth already.
Almost every shuttle fell towards Xiao Yun’s side.
Wang Ye couldn’t find an opportunity to receive, and could only await his chance on the spot.
Xiao Yun, after defending several consecutive shots, began to show signs of fatigue, clearly struggling against the high-frequency attacks of the professional players.
A few more rallies swiftly followed.
Finally.
A shuttlecock flew towards Wang Ye’s side.
Finally spotting an opportunity, Wang Ye swung his racket with force, the racket in his hand slicing through the air with an astonishingly sharp sound. The shuttlecock instantly shot out like a bullet.
Pop!!!!
