Capítulo 1372: Purpose of Sage Mountain (2)

“That place?!” Yang Qing repeated, his voice almost a squeal. If there was one location in the entire Order that matched his fear of the Instructors, it was that one. The Purple Forest was the infamous site of the Purple Grade tests for new Institute applicants—if it could even be called a test, given its brutality. Everything was purple: the trees, the undergrowth, the ground, the water, and even the sky. The light was purple, the clouds were purple. The only things not purple were the bloodthirsty spirit beasts that called it ho, and the blood they spilled there, which was one of the primary reasons Yang Qing and many others feared that place.

About the only good thing there was the rich spiritual qi and environnt, which was no less abundant than that created by a mature dragon vein—an effect he had, until now, assud was behind it.

“That place,” he repeated in disbelief. His worldview had most definitely been changed, and with it, his already well-grood fear of powerful cultivators was reinforced once more. That stagnant fear had found a new wind.

Before he could process it all, or even ask who owned that fiendish Purple Forest (his spirit stones were on it belonging to soone from the Institute, given its nature, quite possibly one of the Instructors or Assistant Deans), the scene before him shifted. The imasurable, awe-inspiring waterfall disappeared, and everything returned to normal, with the carpet of dragon grass, azure Spirit Grass, and the Red Amber Scholar Jade Tree as the centerpiece.

Perhaps due to the effect of Dean Zhu Lao’s domain, when Yang Qing looked at the jade tree now, it felt a little less awe-inspiring than when he had first entered. Another bout of fear began to creep up on him as a result of that realization.

Before he had ti to feed it, Dean Zhu Lao ca to the rescue again.

“What you saw was rely a trace spectral manifestation of my domain, just like what you saw in Dark Valley,” the Dean said. “If I wanted to make its influence permanent in this world, it would take considerable ti, resources, and unleashing the real thing for an extended period of ti.”

Yang Qing’s mind almost went blank. A trace… a trace… And yet he could still sense its effects so strongly even after the waterfall had vanished. He knew it wasn’t just his imagination; the Red Amber Scholar Jade Tree was greedily absorbing the ambient aura left behind, if its glistening leaves and the lights flowing through it in a rapid pulse were any indicators. It had completely abandoned its earlier stoic and mysterious mask and now donned the sa agitated and excitable mask that Yang Qing usually had in front of a buffet of food that he wasn’t paying for.

He didn’t get the space to dwell on the matter as Dean Zhu Lao once more cut him off.

“Sage Mountain is a permanent manifestation of my brother’s domain, albeit it is less than a hundredth of the original,” Dean Zhu Lao said with a sigh. “But even so, even in its current state, it still preserved his life and continues to do so, still,” he continued somberly.

Yang Qing had, at this point, given up on thinking and processing. There were only so many shocking hits of information he could take before he reached his limit and his brain beca desensitized. He had reached that point. If he were told the sun was soone’s domain manifestation, he would take it in stride.

The one good thing about being desensitized and shocked clean out of his capacity for shock was that he could now pay attention more easily without getting sidetracked. And given the somber look on Dean Zhu Lao’s face, he welcod the regained clarity.

“The reason I ntioned all this is that Sage Mountain, being a product of my brother’s domain, heals him every ti soone there enters a state of enlightennt. Every rush of insight and epiphany one gains, the energy that leaks from it, heals him—or rather, sustains his body, soul, and spirit in the state he is in.

And…” he said, pausing briefly as he looked deeply at Yang Qing with a smile. “He gains the greatest benefit when a cultivation art evolves on its grounds. Your art evolving into middle tier of blue grade is undoubtedly a worthy achievent for you, but to , it is so much more than that…” Dean Zhu Lao smiled at Yang Qing. “Your art evolved, but for , it ans my brother got a little better,” he softly added.

“So once again… thank you,” Dean Zhu Lao said deeply, cupping his fists.

Yang Qing didn’t say much, only cupping his fists in return. It now made sense why creators were given preferential treatnt at the mountain. It could maybe even be why Dean Zhu Lao had created so many arts over the years. If he could evolve his art further, and possibly even help it reach the…

His thoughts were cut short by Dean Zhu Lao, who smiled knowingly. “Don’t rush yourself,” he said softly, seemingly seeing right through Yang Qing. “I would do anything to see my brother awake, but I know he would be disheartened if a cultivation art had its path damaged on his account. So don’t rush. Just approach things as you always have,” he added with a smile.

“I will,” said Yang Qing, bowing his head slightly.

“Good,” said Dean Zhu Lao. “As for Song Quan’s matter and your case, I will reach out to him, though it’s not a guarantee I will find him. He moves around a lot, especially with this new potion he has been working on.”

“New potion?” Yang Qing unconsciously asked, his curiosity imdiately taking control.

“Yes,” said Dean Zhu Lao. “He has been working on a Purple Grade potion that would supposedly let him sense the coordinates of an undiscovered, mysterious realm belonging to the Eternal Blossom Sanctum Sect. He has been obsessed with finding anything related to them, especially their legacy.

I can’t bla him, though. Any alchemist or herbologist, especially the more accomplished ones, would be enamored with anything related to that ancient holy ground. I am neither of those things, and even I am tempted to find their grounds,” Dean Zhu Lao said, sighing wistfully as he stroked his beard, a glint of desire flickering in his eyes.

“When you ntioned him earlier, I had assud your interest would have been related to that potion,” Dean Zhu Lao said, looking aningfully between Yu Long and Yang Qing, which drew a confused, questioning gaze from the latter.

“Is there anything special about the potion, other than it may be leading to the Eternal Blossom Sanctum Sect, of course?” Yang Qing asked.

“Plenty,” Dean Zhu Lao said mysteriously with a laugh. “Especially to soone like you, if what Yu Long told about you is true.”
