Capítulo 1382: One can only hope(1)

“Bluefin?” Liu Wen thoughtfully murmured, his speech and expression remaining impassive. “The one connected with the Gold Earth Bank,” he softly continued.

“You are certain he has been taken?” he asked.

“Yes,” Yang Qing firmly answered.

“What help do you need?” Liu Wen asked.

“I think the kidnapper must have set foot in town to observe him closely and quite possibly even booked a trip with him,” Yang Qing explained. He then moved to share all his doubts on the case and everything he had uncovered about the kidnapper, leaving nothing out, including his own suspicions and assumptions.

“With all I have uncovered, I feel the chances are high that the person observed him for a while and up close too, and that they are likely from one of the two treefolk tribes. Or, at the very least, when they ca here, they likely carried the aura of the nebulous yin qi on them,” Yang Qing said after gathering his thoughts.

“That is where I need your help,” he said, gazing solemnly at Liu Wen.

“If they set foot in the town, then Senior Heart Stone Steele, or the other Silver Guard seniors, would likely have taken note of them, particularly because of their lineage. If not that, they would definitely have noticed the nebulous yin qi in them. And given how cautious they have shown themselves to be, they likely used so camouflaging ability to get in and lied about where they were headed or their reasons for visiting the town, which would have been yet another reason to keep an even closer eye on them,” Yang Qing explained.

“That is what I need help with. I need that person’s face, a confirmation of whether they are from the treefolk. Their cultivation realm would not be bad to know either, and the number of tis they have been around here. Also, if the Shadow Hawks or the Silver Guards put them under extra surveillance even after they left. And if they did, I would humbly request the record of every place they saw that person head to, and if at any point they saw them either interact directly or indirectly with any staff mbers of ships from the Bluefin Escort Agency,” said Yang Qing.

“By interact, you an if they were caught spying on mbers of the ferries?” Liu Wen asked.

“Yes,” Yang Qing confird before adding, “though it does not have to be a direct interaction with the Bluefin Escort Agency. If they passed around these places, that would be useful too,” he said as he handed over a mapped parchnt with several locations circled.

“The Wang Clan Great Noble House territory in the Azure Sapphire Kingdom, Orchid City in the Hebei Kingdom, and Agate Beach County in the Luminous Night Kingdom,” Liu Wen comnted as he looked over the circled places.

“These were the places your kidnapper visited or lived?” he asked.

“Of the three, I can only confirm their presence in the gorge within the Wang Clan’s territory. As for the rest, it is just a guess that they were there, given the trail left behind,” said Yang Qing.

Of the three, Agate Beach County in the Luminous Night Kingdom was to be his next stop. That county was where Li Gang had been posted. The branch he manned was there, and it was also where he had stored the Heart Quenching Mulberry Dew before deciding to move it.

If Yang Qing’s guess about Li Gang’s actions being subtly manipulated was correct, then the kidnapper had likely been there. To subtly influence Li Gang’s actions, they had likely studied him closely for a while, just as they likely did with Bai Chen.

After he settled the matters he needed to handle while he was still here, he planned to visit the branch, bringing Zhu Qing along.

If there was foul play, then bringing along a blue-grade formation master was prudent, at least in Yang Qing’s estimation. Though he was not sure what protective chanisms Li Gang had chosen to secure the Heart Quenching Mulberry Dew, he felt it a safe bet that one of them had to be a formation array. It was the go-to thod for many organizations and cultivators.

And if an array had been the primary ans of protection, then Zhu Qing would co in handy. It was about ti the Requiem prisoner assigned to him was put to work for his rehabilitation. The only worry Yang Qing had was whether the disgraced formation master was still up to the task.

He had not interacted much with Zhu Qing, and Yang Qing was not sure if it was due to the effects of his incarceration in Requiem, but the man looked a little worse for wear. He looked broken. Every ti Yang Qing visited the Courtyard of Beginnings and Endings, Zhu Qing was always seated in the sa spot, staring listlessly at the ground with hollow eyes. A few tis, Yang Qing had even caught him speaking to himself.

If it were not for the fact that he was a formation master, that his cri, though horrid, was not borne of monstrous intent, and that Vice Warden Shao An had personally recomnded him for the rehabilitation program, Yang Qing would have sent him back. The person did not seem to have any desire for anything except look at the grass or the clouds when he felt the need to change scenery.

Yang Qing’s thoughts were cut short as Liu Wen spoke again, this ti gazing intently at him.

“You wish to track the kidnapper through karma?” Though phrased as a question, Liu Wen’s tone suggested he believed it irrefutable that this was Yang Qing’s intention. Indeed it was, as Yang Qing solemnly nodded.

“That is my intention,” Yang Qing admitted. “Given the ti constraints, the sooner I find Bai Chen, the better the odds of finding him alive,” he added.

“Hmm,” Liu Wen humd before saying, “Very well. Give so ti to look into it. It should not take long, given the information you have shared.”

“You are welco to wait in my office if you wish, or you can enjoy the town. Alternatively, I can have the findings sent to you wherever is most convenient—be it here, your office, your abode, or any other place you choose. I can have Fei Chen deliver them once I have collected everything,” Liu Wen offered.

“If it is not too much trouble, could they be sent to my abode? There are still other matters I need to look through,” said Yang Qing.

“It is no problem,” Liu Wen said impassively. “More wine?” he asked, gesturing to Yang Qing’s almost empty cup.

“Thank you,” Yang Qing said, bowing his head slightly as he smiled in gratitude for both the wine and the administrator’s help.
