Capítulo 1394: Mine definitely does not do that
“Xie Huan, Xue Peng, Wu Chen, Cao Tian.” Yang Qing repetitively murmured these four nas as countless thoughts and ideas swirled in his mind, and he tried to correlate them with everything he had uncovered thus far.
Xie Huan had been sighted around the branch Li Gang had been a forr head of, and it was precisely the branch where the Heart Quenching Mulberry Dew had been kept before Li Gang decisively decided to move it, fearing it may be stolen. Only, Li Gang thought he was guarding against his colleagues, whereas Yang Qing believed the true culprit was likely to have been Xie Huan.
As for that Heart Quenching Mulberry Dew, the na Li Gang shared did not match the four nas contained on the slip, but it still did not deter Yang Qing from believing that the owner of said item was likely the kidnapper.
He had already shown how flawless he was in using false identities. Therefore, it would not be all too strange if he donned another identity to strike a deal with Li Gang.
As for why he did not use the other already prepared identities, Yang Qing felt it was quite reasonable that he did not. Given the amount of effort he likely put into the other identities—like the appraiser or the guest elder of the Drunken Dream Formation Manor—it would be foolish to burn them in a risky venture.
If Yang Qing was planning a kidnapping, he would use an identity he could easily discard and also one that could not be traced easily, which Xie Huan, Xue Peng, and Wu Chen were not.
Also, regarding the Heart Quenching Mulberry Dew, while it was not exactly rare, it still was not sothing you ca across so easily. It required know-how and a little bit of luck to acquire it, and here enters Xie Huan, a rogue cultivator fad for his skills in herbology, and, as luck would have it, he was also soone known to brave the dangers of the Green Fog Region for his exploits.
If there was one thing the Green Fog Region was guaranteed to have in abundance, other than threats to your life, of course, it was spiritual herbs and plants that were not only in dense supply but also of high quality. Certain plants and herbs that were rare elsewhere were densely available in the Green Fog Region, not to ntion the countless unique spiritual plants and herbs that could be found only there.
That being the case, it would not be too hard for Old Xie Huan to get his hands on Heart Quenching Mulberry Dew if his harvesting stomping grounds were in the Green Fog Region.
And then there was Guest Elder Xue Peng of the Drunken Dream Formation Manor. The formation seal embedded in Wenling’s soul had all the makings and ingenuity he had grown to expect from the hands of a high-ranking mber of the Drunken Dream Formation Manor.
The ingenious way in which the array optimized its functionality around Wenling’s soul, to the point that even the natural yin array cicada had no idea it was there, was the type of ingenuity the Drunken Dream Formation Manor was fad for—using elents in the surroundings to weave an imperceptible array that blended perfectly with its environnt.
They knew how to beguile the soul through arrays.
Yang Qing let out a small laugh before he quickly moved to call Fan i.
“Fan i, we have sothing,” Yang Qing eagerly said the instant the call connected.
“The information you were waiting for has borne fruit?” Fan i imdiately asked in her regular calm tone.
“It is a windfall,” Yang Qing excitedly said before he moved on to retell the contents of the slips, leaving nothing out.
“I think Dong Ping, given his standing in the rogue cultivator circle, could follow Xie Huan’s trail and see all that he can uncover. It does not matter if it is related to the kidnapping or not. As long as he follows Xie Huan’s trail and uncovers the threads of his life not covered in the slip, that should be more than enough.
“And also, it does not matter if it is present or past, as long as it is Xie Huan’s life.
“The Silver Frost Eagles can handle Wu Chen’s thread, and the Wind Gliding rcenary Escort can handle Cao Tian. Have them search for his traces in Hebei with a deeper focus on Orchid City, and they can pay special attention to the Velvet Orchid Teahouse to see if Cao Tian has been there,” Yang Qing rapidly fired.
“Also, they need to check on the ownership of the teahouse. All the information they can uncover about who owns it, no matter how small, they should send to you,” Yang Qing said after a slight pause. “And do ask them to be careful. The teahouse does have a painting whose spirit is at the late stage of the palace realm, so they need to conduct themselves covertly,” Yang Qing warned.
“Will do,” said Fan i.
Yang Qing held his chin pensively, silently calculating sothing.
“Is there anything else?” Fan i asked when she saw that the call had not ended.
“Two days. I think two days should do,” Yang Qing murmured to himself before he moved to respond to Fan i’s query. “Fan i,” he said, “have them gather all they can in two days. They can drop everything else they have been following up on and focus on those areas I have given you, gathering as much as they can for the next two days.”
“You want to trace his karma?” said Fan i, seemingly seeing through his intent.
“Yes,” Yang Qing firmly admitted. “Xie Huan, Xue Peng, Wu Chen, Cao Tian, or whatever his true identity is, has shown himself to be an extrely careful person skilled in subterfuge.
Given the level of detail he has also shown, I doubt he would leave any obvious clues that would lead us to his present whereabouts or where he took Bai Chen and the rest. And whatever clues we do find, so are likely to be fakes he left out purposefully to throw off the trail and delay whatever pursuers would co after him.
Not to ntion, he is a mythical race. Adding all these factors together, if we were to use normal ans, who knows if we would find anything even after a month of intense searching.
“We need extraordinary ans for such an individual,” said Yang Qing.
“Okay,” Fan i curtly said. “By the way, do I reveal to them the fact that the kidnapper is a mythical race mber?”
“Mmm… No, not at this mont,” Yang Qing said after slight deliberation. “That race has not had it easy, and even though he has kidnapped soone, I would rather not add more variables to the equation than I have to.
“I know Dong Ping and the others are people you have worked with and maybe trust them, but I would rather not burden them with such information because I cannot tell how they would react to it. And as of right now, and for what I need them for in the next two days, it does not require them to know his race,” Yang Qing explained.
“Or what do you think, should I tell them? You know them,” Yang Qing imdiately said.
“It is better not to, for now,” Fan i said after a short pause.
“Thank you,” Yang Qing softly said. “Let send you a copy of the slip,” he imdiately added as he took out another jade slip and used his spiritual sense to input all the information he had gotten from the slip Fei Chen brought.
Once everything was inscribed into the slip, he invoked an incantation on his gold eagle dallion that was in his other hand, which resulted in a translucent gold eagle coming to life from the dallion. The eagle was filled with runes that covered the entire plumage of its wings and beak.
Upon appearing, it behaved no differently from a living bird. It chirped at Yang Qing almost as if greeting him and inclined its head slightly, almost as if to ask what Yang Qing had summoned it for, before it moved on to preen its feathers as though that was of more imdiate concern to it than Yang Qing’s response.
“It is amazing how it does that,” Fei Chen said as he gazed at the eagle with deep fascination. “Even ours behaves the sa way. Uncanny, is it not?” he added as he moved in for a closer look, which the eagle seed to have taken offense to as it chirped aggressively at Fei Chen to keep his distance before it decided to switch positions from the table to Yang Qing’s shoulders, where it perched itself and continued preening its feathers.
“Mine does not act that way, though,” Fei Chen comnted as he looked on incredulously at the warning, disdainful look the eagle was giving him.
Yang Qing smiled wryly at the sight, as it was new for him too. Ever since his breakthrough, his spells had been behaving strangely, and now even the spell inscribed in his dallion was acting just as strange.
He thus chose to treat this matter as he did most strange matters that he was too exhausted or worried to indulge in: he ignored it, emptied his mind, and went along with it as he warmly patted the eagle’s head, which thankfully did not take offense and leaned affectionately into the pat. After that, Yang Qing placed the slip before it as he transmitted his instructions via the spiritual link he had with his dallion.
The eagle nodded and then swallowed the slip before moving to flap its wings to take flight. When it was about ten ters above them, it glanced below, its focus on Fei Chen, who imdiately got a bad premonition from the attention.
“What?” he asked, smiling dryly.
The eagle chirped contemptuously at him and flew away. Just when Fei Chen thought that was it, he saw the eagle circle back and hit him with a phlegm. Given that it was an epheral creature born from a spell, said phlegm was just condensed, golden-looking spiritual qi that had as much destructive power as a gentle breeze and carried the sll of flowers and ripened fruit.
Given what he was hit with, it was safe to say Fei Chen did not bother to defend himself or dodge.
“Mine definitely does not do that,” he said, laughing as he shook his head.
Yang Qing, on the other hand, unable to take the display, had taken to burying half his face in his palm as he murmured, “Why is everything around weird? Is having just one thing be normal too much to ask?”
