Despite the changes happening around, or rather maybe because of said changes, every eye in that room was trained on the two appraisers and the two amber green droplets they were each handling.

Countless eyes were shining with excitable greed and anticipation as the two appraisers got to work.

There was not much fanfare involved in the appraisal. No grand techniques or eye-catching instrunts were brought out. All there was to it was concentrated eyes trained on the drops.

But it was beneath those eyes where the grand techniques and skills of the appraisers were encased.

A faint blue glyph appeared on Blue Grade Instructor Chen Yu’s eyes, while Appraiser Mo Guang’s eyes had turned completely silver, from the iris to the pupil.

As if on prior arrangent, none of them seed to reach out for the droplets and let them lie on the table on the two jade saucers Li Gang had placed them on.

The atmosphere grew tense and heavy as the seconds turned into minutes, with the house steeped in silence as the two appraisers continued with their evaluations, which by the ti it reached the seventh minute mark seed to have shifted from just visual analysis to hands-on evaluations, as each took out different items.

Appraiser Mo Guang took out what looked to be an incense stick that was grey ash in color. He inserted it into his sap, dabbed a bit over the tip, and then snapped his finger, and a silver fla ignited from that tip and proceeded to engulf the whole incense stick.

At that point, it was already evident that clearly that was not an ordinary incense stick, given the runes that suddenly appeared on its body and also the fact that the incense stick, despite being engulfed in flas, did not seem to be burning up. The silver fla seed more like an ornantal cloak, if anything.

As people were wondering what the fla or the incense stick was for, or what it was that Appraiser Mo Guang was intending to accomplish with whatever he was doing, an inexplicable thing happened. The flas surrounding the incense stick suddenly changed from silver white to gold white, then blue white, then cyan white, until finally the flas settled into a deep amber green color, matching the sap droplet.

As soon as that amber green fla covered the entire body of the incense stick, cracks suddenly appeared on the incense stick’s body, which was promptly followed by an assailing, wailing shriek that was so intense that it imdiately caused a few of the guests to rise in alarm, while so of the seated ones imdiately went taut as they adopted defensive postures.

Their reactions were highly understandable because that shriek was sothing that was sowhere between soone’s death throes and a violent wail filled with nothing but anger and fear.

As if the deathly shriek were not eerie enough, the incense stick started lting as dark grey smoke started sizzling out of the stick along with light grey yellow liquid that looked like pus, which made the entire incense stick look like a cursed object. It did not help that the temperature in the room seed to turn slightly chillier once that smoke appeared, and also the shrieks grew more intense as more dark grey smoke was produced.

The likely culprit of all these changes on that stick seed to be that amber green fla.

After a few seconds, the shriek started to wear down, which was eerie in itself, as it gave the illusion that the incense stick was actually a living thing. Otherwise, why would it produce a very human-like shriek filled with human emotions like fear, anger, desperation, and now exhaustion, with hints of surrender in there?

The grey-black smoke got either smothered to death or evaporated; one couldn’t tell, because it was dealt with very fast by that amber green fla. And as for the incense stick, small gasps of surprise sounded around the room when they saw an ivory white incense stick in the place of what had been a largely grey white scaly patch incense stick with a charred grey undertone, monts earlier.

There were puzzling looks going around, with people wondering where that ivory white incense stick had co from, especially given that they had seen the incense stick from before being lted down like candle wax by that amber green fla.

Those who had already uncovered the identity of that incense stick were not all too surprised, though. They all seed to wear the look that appeared to say that they expected things to develop the way they did. Yang Qing was part of that group.

Necrotic mother leaf tree, he murmured as he looked on curiously at the ivory white incense stick that looked like it had been polished from the smoothest jade. The sense of purity it evoked now made it look like a sacred item rather than the cursed object it had been earlier.

If soone said that incense stick had received so divinity in it, so would be liable to believe it.

Such was the nature of the Necrotic Leaf Mother Tree.

In its natural state, it looked as hideous as its na suggested. It had pus on various parts of its body, predominantly on its stems. Its entire body looked like a badly charred tree from which the bark peeled to release not only the rancid grey-yellow pus it was famous for, but also that eerie, wailing dark smog that the crowd had heard earlier.

The wailing from before could be considered a mute’s wailing compared to the real thing from the main tree.

A two-second wail from the main tree was not only horrific in voice but also in its effects. Yang Qing had read of peak-stage Core Formation experts wailing to their deaths after hearing that shriek, with their deaths being worthy of the horrific wails they produced. Their bodies lted into pus, and their souls were burned into black smog that was then reabsorbed into the Necrotic Leaf Mother Tree, from which it births a fruit that, unlike its eerie look, is very beautiful. It looks no different from how the incense stick looked now. If anything, the fruit was even more beautiful.

And so were the flowers it produced, which were also ford from the souls it ripped.

It cast quite the incongruous look, with its extrely beautiful flowers and fruits housed under that deeply unsettling and traumatizing charred and pus-filled body.

As for the lted body, that pus that was produced when the body was lted was absorbed into the tree, which used said pus to increase the concentration of the pus in its body and the virulence of it.
