The supre elder stretched his fingers slightly as a way of trying to control the tremors that had beset them. Another motivator on why he needed to settle everything today, once and for all.

Not many could understand the sheer tornt he had been living under for the past 83 years. Even he could hardly believe it. It only took less than 100 years to transform into the thing he is today. A crazed old man who had nothing other than fear, anger, bitterness, hatred, and overwhelming pain going for him. A revenant who was both a living person and a ghost unwilling to pass on.

Only after the tremors had subsided did he continue with his testimony.

"I was the supre elder of the Azure Rain Sword Sect for the past 1,000 years, but I was forced to leave that post when I beca unfit and too dangerous to hold the post..." Supre Elder Jiang Huang said with a low dispirited tone.

When you live a long life, regrets are bound to accompany that long life, and Jiang Huang had more than his fair share of them from unrequited love to missed opportunities, to acting selfishly, to neglecting so many things that would have made his life richer, and other things.

But if he was asked what the biggest regret of his life was, his answer would be simple, not dying 83 years ago.

The reason for that was he lost two of the most important things in his life that day. One of those things he couldn’t do anything about it, but the other he definitely had a choice. It’s just that he had been too bitter, resentful, and blinded by hate to do anything about it.

But now, so close to his death, even though the bitterness and resentnt were still there, that sense of his impending demise gave a sense of tranquil strength that led him to see through the mistakes he made for the past 83 years stretching on even beyond that. The source of that regret was the Azure Rain Sword Sect.

"All that I am, All that I have, and All I could ever be, All of it is thanks to the Azure Rain Sword Sect.." Supre Elder Jiang Huang said, as he showed so life and passion in his features and voice. Even his scrawny fra seed to burst with strength.

"When I joined, I was nothing but a bony eight-year-old who was on the run from a mining encampnt that had fed him nothing but putrid water, and a little bit of nectar sap for three months straight.

That eight-year-old’s ambition at the ti was just a warm place to sleep, and a drink of water that did not taste like it had been mixed with a million tiny thorns, blood, and pungent smoke.

What he wanted was to know what it felt like to sleep on a full stomach. What it felt like to relax without the fear of being beaten within an inch of your life, forced to swing a pick axe despite multiple bones in your body being broken, and inhaling substances that did more damage than the beatings.

That boy wanted to know what it felt like to live and to feel the sun under his skin. So out of desperation, even though he didn’t know that the place he had stumbled onto was the recruitnt drive of a sect, he asked for a glass of water.

The ask drew a lot of laughs of contempt around.." Jiang Huang said as he smiled slightly, softening the wrinkles of his face as he did.

"Most of them laughed, except a few. Those few were the officiators of that recruitnt, while those who laughed were the hopefuls.

Just like that eight-year-old boy, they were looking for sothing with the sa desperation he did, only for them it wasn’t a glass of water but to join the sect and have a chance at a different life, and maybe soar to the skies above.

As for those who didn’t laugh at him, those who to the boy looked like immortals, they saw sothing in the boy that the boy didn’t see in himself. They saw potential, and thus after giving the boy a glass of the tastiest and most refreshing water he had ever heard, they asked the boy;

Do you want the chance of never going thirsty, hungry, or tired again?

The boy readily agreed as it touched on his desperate needs. Though his understanding and theirs were vastly different. For him, he assud he would be well fed as he offered labor for what he was being given.

After sampling the water he had been given, he had already made up his mind even if they worked him worse than the mine did, he would not escape as he did. That water was the best thing he had ever had, even if he lost an arm and a leg for it, he would lose them gladly if, at the end of it, he got the water.

But the reality turned out to be different from what the eight-year-old had imagined. Before that day, that eight-year-old never knew what cultivators looked like, what the cultivator world was. All his wisdom and understanding toward life was built in a dark cave glistening with shiny rocks, and demons dressed in human skin dictating every second of that young boy’s life.

He didn’t know much other than life in that cave, so you can imagine how shocked he had been when he was taken into a sect that was filled with all these kinds of things his little mind could ever even imagine.

A huge part of thought I had died in that cave either from that putrid water they had been feeding , or the helping of beatings they served next to it. I couldn’t believe such a place existed, mountains, valleys, rivers, mist that contained the grandeur of heaven stretching endlessly as far as the eyes could see.

Everything around was ethereal and transcendent, even the air I breathed healed all the trauma and injuries I had accumulated with every breath.

I honestly believed I had died in that cave, the only thing that made second-guess it was the scene before far outmatched anything I could imagine. There was no way I could imagine what I saw and thus my life as a disciple of the Azure Rain Sword Sect began from a glass of water..."
