A vast, erald forest stretched before him, overflowing with untad life and strange wonders. This was where Luki found himself when he awakened.
Or rather, when he beca aware.
He had returned to the landscape of his own mind, but the realm was vastly different from what he rembered. Discovering his genuine desire for adventure had shifted sothing deep within his soul, and that internal evolution was mirrored here. The forest felt denser, more vibrant, and heavy with ancient magic.
A massive shadow swept across the canopy overhead. Looking up, Luki watched a majestic griffin soar alongside a colossal erald dragon. They exchanged deafening roars as they cut through the clouds, though the sound carried a playful, soaring camaraderie rather than hostility.
As he walked deeper, he spotted goblins nesting peacefully among the roots, nymphs bathing beneath crystal waterfalls, pixies tending to glowing flora, and translucent slis drifting through pristine streams. Countless mythical creatures shared the exact sa woods, yet none harbored fear or malice toward the others.
It was a world where apex predators and fragile spirits existed in flawless harmony.
Strangely, his unmasked self, that raw reflection of his innermost thoughts, was nowhere to be found. After searching the clearings for a while, Luki stopped looking. Perhaps their bitter farewell during his last breakthrough had truly been final.
Eventually, his steps led him to the edge of a boundless, mirror-like lake.
Floating just above the still waters was a brilliant sphere of light, the enigmatic divine entity that had ripped him away from his old life and thrown him into this world of gods and monsters.
As Luki approached, he noticed the most profound change of all.
The light no longer burned his eyes.
The first ti he had looked upon it, the sheer radiance had been agonizing, an unbearable reminder of his own insignificance. Now, there was only a gentle, pulsing warmth, as if the entity had finally acknowledged his existence as an equal.
Stepping confidently onto the liquid glass of the lake, Luki walked until he stood directly before the blinding sphere.
And then, he simply waited. He waited for it to speak. He waited for it to explain why he had been summoned to this reality, or to answer at least one of the countless, burning questions he had carried in his chest since day one.
Silence stretched. The sphere rely pulsed, offering no voice.
After what felt like an eternity, Luki let out a quiet sigh and turned his back on the light.
Maybe the god was asleep. Maybe it was still recovering from the journey. Or maybe Luki simply hadn't proven himself worthy of receiving cosmic answers yet.
But as he stared out into the horizon of his mind, he realized sothing empowering: he no longer cared. The lake vanished behind him. The vibrant forest dissolved into a blinding white flash, then collapsed into absolute darkness.
He was pulling himself back to reality.
If this world wanted him to forge ahead completely blind, without a roadmap or a divine mandate, then so be it. No one had explained why he was here. No one had told him what role he was expected to play in the grand design. Fine.
He was done being a passive bystander in his own life. He was done waiting for permission to exist.
From this mont on, he would carve out his own path, entirely indifferent to whatever destiny, gods, or entities had planned for him. He wouldn't be a piece on anyone's chessboard.
The world would simply have to deal with the consequences of his choices.
...
Consciousness slowly flooded back into Luki's body as his eyes snapped open, staring blankly at an unfamiliar ceiling. The rough, beige fabric above him swayed gently in the draft. After blinking away the lingering, heavy haze from his mind, he took a deep breath of the crisp morning air and realized he was resting inside a canvas tent.
Looking around, he found a simple camp set up around him. The sll of dicine and damp stone filled the air, and the faint presence he felt was enough to confirm the truth.
He was still inside the Dungeon.
Luki sighed.
What a sha. He had honestly hoped to wake up outside for once.
As he shifted on the bed, he suddenly noticed a weight resting against him. Lowering his gaze, he stopped moving.
Hestia was asleep beside him.
Her head rested comfortably on his chest while one arm loosely wrapped around his side, her expression peaceful despite the obvious exhaustion on her face.
For a mont, Luki simply stared at her before a small smile appeared on his lips.
It seed soone had been worried.
— Hestia, wakie wakie... — He whispered in a loving tone.
The goddess didn't answer. Luki smiled and gently ran his fingers through her hair.
— Hey, sleepy goddess, the sun was already risen...
She let out a small grumble and snuggled even closer to his chest.
— Five more minutes...
— That's what people say before sleeping another five hours.
— Mmm... sounds like a great plan...
A low laugh escaped Luki.
— Co on, Hestia. Ti to wake up.
In response, she only tightened her embrace around him and stubbornly shook her head.
— No...
Luki's smile softened. For a few seconds, he simply observed her peaceful face before leaning down and placing a delicate kiss on the top of her head.
— Love. Wake up for .
This ti she reacted, mumbling sothing incomprehensible while stretching like a lazy cat. Still sleepy, she brought one hand to her eyes and rubbed them slowly before staring at the tent ceiling with a completely lost expression.
Then her gaze t his.
For a few seconds, Hestia just laid there, staring at Luki's smiling face while her mind tried to process what she was seeing. The fog of sleep gradually dissipated until, finally, it dawned on her.
— LUKI!? YOU'RE AWAKE!
The cry echoed through the tent as she practically lunged at him.
— Ahahaha! You took your ti, huh? — he joked as he hugged her back.
— Shut up, idiot! Do you know how worried I was? You slept for three days straight!
— Sorry, my bad. I guess that whole adventure wore out, as impossible as that sounds.
They embraced in silence, simply feeling each other's warmth. Hestia sat on his lap, resting her face against his chest, while Luki placed one hand on her waist and ran the other through her loose hair.
That feeling, of having each other's presence first thing in the morning, without any worries. They both missed that.
Luki breathed deeply against the top of her head.
— I missed your scent, my sweet goddess.
— Oh, Luki, you dog, what am I going to do with you? — She said, sounding sowhat disappointed, she hadn't expected such a comnt at such an important reunion.
In response, he gave a mischievous smile and pulled her closer, their foreheads touching as he looked directly into her eyes.
— I don't know. How about a kiss? — He said in a lewd way while holding the back of her head.
— A kiss? Uhm... let think... — Hestia's expression also beca more mischievous, getting into the mood because of his advances; she had missed this too. — Yeah, I think a kiss will do."
Their lips t softly at first, a brief testing of boundaries, but the restraint lasted only a fraction of a second. The days of agonizing separation and the terrifying fear of loss crashed over them all at once.
— Ngh! — Luki groaned against her mouth, his grip tightening on the back of her head as he tilted her chin up, demanding entry.
Hestia parted her lips with an eager gasp, and he took imdiate advantage, sliding his tongue into her mouth.
The heat was instantaneous. Their tongues t, tangling in a desperate, slick rhythm that tasted of pure relief, hunger and sensuality.
— Mhn... — Hestia gasped into his mouth, her body shuddering as his tongue swirled around hers, drinking in her sweetness, while she countered with equal fervor.
Hestia sucked on his lower lip, her tongue slicking against his as she poured all her pent-up worry into the kiss.
Every swipe of their tongues was heavy, wet, and demanding. Hestia tightened her hold around his shoulders, her fingers clawing into his shirt as if she could pull him inside her own chest. Luki's other hand slid down her back, trailing a path of burning heat all the way down to her ass.
— Ahn... — Hestia moaned directly into his mouth, a sharp, helpless shiver running down her spine the mont his large hand molded around her bare skin, his fingers squeezing her buttocks with a firm, possessive grip.
She arched into him, tilting her hips instinctively to press her core closer to his lap, exchanging breaths and swallowinh each other's soft moans as the kiss deepened into a breathless, intoxicating haze, completely consud by the friction of their bodies.
— Ah... — They finally broke apart, the lingering heat of their exhaustion heavy between them as a thin, silver string of saliva snapped reluctantly between their bruised, slick lips.
Hestia remained close enough for their foreheads to touch, her small chest heaving rapidly as she struggled to steady her ragged breathing. Her cheeks were deeply flushed, radiating a warm glow, and her eyes never left his face. She stared at him through a vulnerable gaze, as if she was terrified he might lt into thin air the mont she looked away.
— I missed you so much, — she whispered, her voice cracking slightly with the weight of her unshed tears.
Luki's sharp, mischievous smile softened into sothing profoundly tender.
— I missed you too, my goddess.
The mont the words left his mouth, the last bit of restraint lted. Hestia threw her arms around his neck again, burying her face deeply into the crook of his shoulder. He returned the embrace without hesitation, locking his arms around her waist and pulling her small fra completely against his chest.
For a long while, neither felt the need to speak. The quiet rustle of the tent and the synchronized, calming rhythm of their heartbeats filled the silence. Simply being anchored to one another was enough to heal the days of agony.
Eventually, Hestia tilted her head upward, her fingers gently sweeping through the hair at the nape of his neck. This ti, their lips t in a much gentler rhythm, brief and tender, accompanied by quiet, breathless smiles that neither of them could hide against each other's mouths.
— I see you're making up for lost ti.
The dry, booming voice cut through the heavy air of the tent. Both of them jumped, instantly tearing apart as they whipped their heads toward the entrance.
— He-Hephaestus?! — Hestia squeaked, her voice cracking as a furious crimson flush spread from her neck straight to the tips of her ears. — What-What are you doing here?!
Standing at the doorway with her arms tightly crossed over her chest, the blacksmith goddess looked completely unimpressed, her single visible eye deadpanning at the chaotic scene.
— Since when have you been there? — Luki asked, rubbing the back of his neck without a single shred of sha.
— Long enough, — Hephaestus replied, her tone drier than the Orario desert. — I believe I walked in right around the ti a certain goddess started screaming your na loud enough to entire floor hear it.
'So, the whole thing... honestly, Hephaestus, I expected more from you.' Luki thought, casting a disappointed, disbelieving glance at the goddess.
But as if she could read his thoughts, she gave him a sharp, knowing smirk, and stepped aside.
— And I wasn't the only one.
A small flood of familiar figures imdiately spilled into the tent, shattering the romantic bubble entirely.
— Ah, young love. It truly heals all wounds, doesn't it? — Hers chuckled smoothly, adjusting his feather hat as he stepped inside first. He looked tired, but his eyes danced with their usual playful mischief. — Though it seems we've interrupted a rather... crucial stage of your recovery, Luki.
— I am just glad to see you breathing normally, young man, Your goddess here barely let any of us look at you for the past three days. —Miach followed right behind, carrying a crate of dical supplies with a warm, relieved smile.
— Sorry for interrupting. — Finn Deimne walked in, offering Luki a respectful, sharp nod.
Luki nodded back, recognizing him but not understanding why he was there; he didn't rember interacting much with him.
But this wasn't over, the real danger materialized soon after.
Loki entered the room, her narrow eyes closed in a terrifyingly mischievous grin.
Truthfully, her presence shouldn't have been surprising. During the three days Luki had spent unconscious, Loki had finally returned from the surface after aggressively settling several matters. What she hadn't expected was to return to the Dungeon only to find the rescue operation already finished, and her favorite target ripe for teasing.
The mont Loki's eyes landed on Hestia, who was still awkwardly tangled in Luki's lap, the grin on her face stretched impossibly wide.
—Oh my, oh my~. Lookee here! Looks like I stumbled right into a spicy little den of sin!"
Hestia visibly stiffened, her spine turning to ice.
— L-Loki?!
—What? — Loki innocently splayed her hands, tilting her head with mock sweetness. — I'm just overjoyed to see ya, Chibi-boobs! Though I gotta say, the boy spends three days on the brink of death, and the absolute first thing ya do is climb him like a tree?
— I-I wasn't climbing!
— And here I thought the great Goddess Hestia was supposed to be supervising his dical care.
— I was supervising! — Hestia bellowed, her fists shaking.
— Oh, really? Supervising from his lap? Is that a new advanced healing technique? Do ya transfer divine power through butt-friction?
The entire tent erupted into a roar of laughter. Welf had to lean on Hers just to stay upright, and even Hephaestus let out a rare, amused snort.
Hestia's face managed to turn an even deeper, impossible shade of purple-red.
— W-Well, I... he was... we were just!
— Oh, don't stop on our account! — Loki continued rcilessly, stepping closer and waving her hands dramatically. — In fact, if ya need to finish supervising, we can all just pack up, clear out, and co back in a few hours. Don't mind us!
— LLOOOOKIIIIII!
Another wave of laughter filled the small space. Hestia opened and closed her mouth several tis, desperately searching for a legendary coback, but every retort died a painful death on her tongue. Against a seasoned verbal monster like Loki, she simply lacked the firepower.
With a defeated, high-pitched squeak, Hestia grabbed the heavy blanket, pulled it entirely over her head, and curled into a tight, vibrating ball of pure embarrassnt right next to Luki.
The laughter reached its peak. Even Luki couldn't stop himself, a hearty chuckle bubbling up from his chest at his goddess's antics.
Eventually, the crowd parted, and Takemikazuchi stepped forward. The war god's broad smile lasted only a fraction of a second before his expression shifted into sothing much more stern. Without warning, he reached out, placed his heavy palm firmly on top of Luki's head, and violently ground his knuckles into Luki's scalp.
— Owowowow! Take! Stop, stop! Brain damage! — Luki yelped, trying to squirm away from the brutal noogie.
— You owe us a hell of an apology, brat, — Takemikazuchi said, finally releasing him. His voice was calm, but when Luki looked up, blinking away tears of pain, he saw the unmistakable, heavy relief shining in the deity's eyes.
— I know, I know, my bad. But in my defense, it's not my fault that the Dungeon is obsessed with .
— You wish... — Takemikazuchi muttered with a smirk.
That said, the war god stepped aside, allowing Hephaestus to take his place. From there, it beca like a patient visitation at a hospital, with everyone taking turns to speak with him.
Through these brief conversations, Luki finally had the opportunity to catch up on everything that had happened on the surface during his disappearance.
Apparently, a desperate Hestia had used every single favor and connection she possessed to rally other Familias to the cause. She had organized a massive, unprecedented expedition that had been actively scouring the deep floors for three whole months just searching for him.
Loki and Freya were the two main pillars of the operation. Loki had been the first to dive into the ss, driven obviously by her deep, hidden soft spot for Hestia. Freya, on the other hand, had joined midway with other gods. Her assistance hadn't been planned, and certainly wasn't out of the goodness of her heart, but the sheer military might of the Freya Familia had been absolutely essential for the expedition to survive this long in the deep zones.
Luki made a point to thank everyone personally, especially Captain Finn, who had overseen the entire operation as the commander collectively appointed by the gods. The small Pallum responded cordially, subtly hinting that it would be a stellar idea to deepen the diplomatic ties between their Familias in the future; it was obvious he was highly interested in Luki's unusual power. Loki, for her part, grumbled and didn't seem too keen on the idea of sharing, only making a passing comnt about taking care of Hestia while she was away.
'Apparently, the relationship between those two goddesses is genuinely good, no matter how much they try to pretend otherwise.' Luki thought with a small smile.
Everyone took their turn offering thanks, scoldings, and sighs of relief until, finally, it was Miach's turn to step up.
— Hey there. How are you feeling, my newest patient?
— Oh, so you're the one who's been patching up, Miach-sama?
— Well, who better than the God of dicine to handle such a special case? — Miach smiled warmly, gesturing to the dical supplies nearby. — It was tricky, but I administered a few specialized compounds to relax your muscles and kickstart your recovery. From what I can gather from my examination, you haven't had a proper al in a very long ti.
— Don't even get started. Monster at isn't exactly a delicacy, let alone eating it raw. Honestly, I think my Skill helped with that. I never really felt the full weight of hunger or exhaustion down there.
— Hestia ntioned that, which is exactly why we didn't move your unconscious body back to the surface. Apparently, your body recovers at an accelerated rate as long as you remain inside the Dungeon. A fascinating Skill, if you ask .
Miach's words caused Luki to drift into deep thought, his mind racing back to the bizarre state he had entered during his last life-or-death battle.
For a brief mont, he had assud it was the awakening of a brand-new power. But on second thought, it felt more like his Tireless Explorer Skill operating on absolute steroids.
While the Skill normally allowed him to passively absorb ambient energy to restore his natural state, in that mont, his body had been absorbing far more than it should have. It had completely flooded his system with raw magical energy, skyrocketing his physical capabilities to the absolute extre. It had even allowed him to manipulate that energy externall, shaping it into large wings, firing destructive energy cuts or even channeling it into a literal magical laser cannon.
He made a firm ntal note to study his Skills thoroughly when he got the chance, both to master this overclocked state and to figure out the true nature of his newly awakened power.
— But enough shop talk, — Miach's voice broke his train of thought. — Tell how your body actually feels right now. Any lingering discomfort... or perhaps, any special sensations?
—Well... I don't know. To be completely honest with you, I feel better than ever.
— Are you sure? — Miach pressed, tilting his head. — Nothing regarding... certain minor adjustnts to your person?
— What do you an?
The two of them stared at each other in a heavy silence. Luki looked on with genuine, clueless confusion, while Miach stared back as if trying to gauge if the boy was actually being serious.
— You really haven't noticed anything different about yourself? — Miach asked, completely incredulous.
Luki looked down at his torso, then down at his legs beneath the blanket. Everything seed perfectly intact.
— Uhm... no?
— Are. You. Sure?! — Miach emphasized each word, suddenly losing his patience. He grabbed Luki's right arm and aggressively shoved it right in front of the boy's face.
Luki recoiled in surprise, remaining perfectly still as he stared at his own arm. What was he supposed to say? It was an arm. It had pale skin, a solid elbow, a small birthmark on the forearm, feathers and tiny wings sprouting right above the wrist, a hand, five fingers...
'Wait. Wings on the wrist?'
— Ehhh?!— Luki gasped, his eyes widening to the size of saucers.
— Oh my god, you are so slow! — Everyone in the tent shouted in unison.
