The ever-extending rope was like a giant's beanstalk.
As Drake climbed, it finally broke through the clouds and pierced into the sky above the sea of clouds.
Once he pushed through the layers of mist, a massive sphere hanging high beneath the heavens ca into view.
Though it was called a "small" planetoid, from a human perspective it was still absolutely enormous.
"There should be an entrance tunnel to the lab on either side of the sphere."
Drake recalled the structure of the planetoid laboratory, though what he had in his head was only a flat schematic rather than a true three-dinsional image.
The information from his mory felt a little unreliable in the face of the real Terraria world.
From here on, he could only verify it through action.
What gave Drake even more of a headache was that once he broke through the cloud layer and reached Space, he was finally attacked by the native inhabitants of this bio—
Whoosh, whoosh-whoosh!
Sharp feathers flashed with sky-blue light under the sun as they shot toward Drake like blades!
"Damn harpies!"
Cursing under his breath, Drake jumped onto a wooden platform he had placed in midair, carefully dodging the attacks raining down from above.
In this world where physics seed to have stopped working, all he needed was a point of leverage to place items in the air.
That was exactly why Drake hadn't beco a helpless target dangling from a rope.
Instead, he laid down fighting platforms while avoiding the harpies' attacks.
These were flying monsters that spawned at high altitudes, with bodies like human won and arms that had beco blue wings.
They would actively attack anyone invading the sky, firing off feather projectiles sharp as steel blades one after another.
Those feathers hit quite hard and were easy to get struck by repeatedly.
With Drake's current gear, if he got hit by more than five of them, he'd be receiving another full day of death penalty.
Under normal circumstances, Drake wouldn't have bothered tangling with these harpies.
But if he didn't deal with the birds blocking his way now, continuing deeper into the planetoid would be difficult.
"Good thing I brought plenty of shuriken."
"I'll lure them down first, then deal with them one by one."
Patiently, Drake whittled down the health of the nearby harpies with shuriken.
Annoying as they were, these harpies were still only ordinary monsters rather than elites.
Aside from having a bit more health and so knockback resistance, they weren't too hard to handle.
Through Drake's persistent effort, one harpy after another fell onto the platform covered in wounds, turning into scattered drops of loot.
Harpy drops weren't especially varied. The most common item was Feathers.
This was a material item that wasn't very useful in the early ga, and only sold to the shop for 10 copper.
Still, the harpies themselves dropped a pretty decent amount of money—nearly 8 silver each!
Clang!
A distinct heavy object hitting the ground caught Drake's attention.
"Did sothing drop?!"
In his excitent, Drake lost focus for a mont and failed to dodge one feather, and a sharp pain imdiately shot through his right shoulder.
"Tch…"
Hissing in pain, Drake quickly pulled a Lesser Healing Potion from his inventory and drank it.
Before more feathers could descend, he didn't have ti to inspect the new loot.
He kept throwing shuriken, and after several more minutes of fierce fighting, finally cleared out the remaining harpies.
"I can't afford to get careless."
Drake scanned his surroundings warily, and only then walked toward the place where the sound had co from.
There, surrounded by silver coins, copper coins, and feathers scattered all over the platform, lay a strange sky-blue staff.
"If I rember right, this should be a magic weapon!"
For a mont, Drake couldn't rember the exact na of the item.
But that didn't matter, because as long as he used Appraisal on it, he'd get the information he needed.
[Sky Glaze (Blue): Damage 8. Consus 8 mana when used. Summons 3 explosive feathers from above to strike the target.]
Unlike the "magic" commonly seen in the DanMachi world, Terraria magic required no chant.
As long as one had enough mana, it could be cast!
Even Drake, who knew nothing about magical theory, could imdiately switch careers and beco a mage the mont he got this staff.
The problem was that his mana was very low—only the starting 20 points—so he could cast Sky Glaze at most twice in a row before having to wait for recovery.
"More than 50 silver, plus a staff. That wasn't a waste of ti."
Drake nodded in satisfaction, picked up the staff, and started building a staircase toward the planetoid.
The battle platform he had just built could remain in place permanently as a foothold for activities in the Space layer.
After circling the planetoid and observing it for a while, Drake finally spotted a hidden opening concealed by vines.
"This should be the entrance tunnel to the laboratory."
Drake let out a breath of relief and extended the platform across to it.
Once inside the planetoid, he wouldn't have to worry about harpy attacks in the enclosed environnt and could explore the lab in peace.
Bzzzt—
As Drake approached, a camouflaged automatic door smoothly split apart.
Cold white lights flickered on one after another in the tallic corridor beyond, as if welcoming its owner's arrival.
Faced with a facility this full of advanced technology, Drake felt montarily dazed.
After living in the DanMachi world for so many years, he was finally sensing the presence of technology again!
By order of progression, though, this was actually the second Draedon Laboratory.
