Through August's patient guidance, Hestia finally mastered the apartnt's modern appliances.
The first thing she conquered was the smartphone.
Right now, she was happily munching on takeout while watching the Danmachi ani cast onto the TV screen. She watched the show with intense fascination.
"Gotta admit, this kid really is impressive," Hestia comnted through a mouthful of food. "Though the NTR vibes in this plot are off the charts."
She praised Bell Cranel's potential while giggling at her fictional counterpart getting cucked by Freya, acting as if it wasn't her on the screen at all.
"You're okay with this?" August sat next to her, popping a piece of grilled sausage into his mouth.
Hearing her drop a bombshell like that, he wondered if his Goddess had a few screws loose. How could she watch a plotline like that without getting mad, let alone laugh at it?
"Why wouldn't I be?" Hestia said with a shrug. "Sure, it's frustrating, but what can I really do about it in that tiline? If letting Freya step in helps the kid grow, then it's a necessary trade. Sotis, you have to lose sothing to gain sothing."
Hestia felt zero sha over the NTR narrative. She could be petty. But when it ca to raising a Familia, she was pragmatic. As long as it didn't cross her bottom line, she could tolerate a lot to help her child succeed—even if it ant swallowing her pride and feeling a flash of jealousy toward another woman.
"Of course, if we're talking about this world, that's a hard no."
"I'm in your world now. My divine power is unsealed."
"If I let myself get cucked with my power at max output, I might as well resign as a Goddess." Hestia made one thing very clear.
Here on Earth, she would NEVER tolerate getting NTR'd. If anyone even tried, she would explode. With no restrictions holding her back, she sat at the very apex of this world. Letting soone walk all over her? Yeah, right.
"Where did you even learn to talk like that?" August raised an eyebrow, recognizing the unmistakable flavor of internet brainrot in her speech.
"From here." Hestia held up August's phone, pointing to an open chat window.
It was his personal group chat.
"I have to say, the people in this box are weirdos. There are all kinds of freaks in here. The humans of this world really are sothing else."
Hestia was having her mind blown by the shitposters in his chat group. For a Goddess, reading modern internet banter was an enlightening experience.
"Stop reading that garbage," August sighed. "You're going to turn into a degenerate."
He hadn't expected Hestia to adapt to the interface so fast. As expected of a goddess. Their learning curve for things that interested them was terrifyingly steep.
"Don't say that."
The mont he ntioned her becoming a degenerate, Hestia deflated like a balloon. She went limp, lting into the sofa and hugging a throw pillow to her chest.
"It's this world's fault for being so convenient!"
"I can order food on this little glass brick. I can play gas. I can talk to people far away. You have tal carriages and electric bikes outside!"
"And the food—there is so much good food! Ugh... I can't take it anymore."
Hestia groaned. The thought of returning to Orario and living a primitive, inconvenient life made her want to cry. She had tasted the peak of modern comfort. Going back to a dieval slum felt like a one-way trip to hell.
Besides, she didn't even have a place to live in Orario anymore. Going back ant living in poverty.
"August... can we co back here every day? Please?" Hestia gave him the best puppy-dog eyes a Goddess could muster. She couldn't bear to leave this lifestyle behind.
August stared blankly at his Patron Goddess.
'She got corrupted by modern convenience in record ti.'
'It hasn't even been a few hours.'
In the blink of an eye, a goddess who had once lived like it was the Middle Ages had turned into a hopeless shut-in. Modern civilization was really scary.
"Sure," August agreed after a mont of thought.
He liked modern conveniences too. Why rough it out in the Middle Ages when he had an apartnt with Wi-Fi and running water?
"YAY!" Hestia threw her hands in the air.
This was the life she wanted. Fast, easy, and comfortable.
But amidst her celebration, she rembered sothing.
"By the way, August. What exactly did we co back here to do?" She had noticed him sketching and making lists earlier, clearly prepping for a project.
"I'm buying weapons," August replied. "And I need to run so tests on my magic."
"I'm a newly registered adventurer in Orario. If I suddenly bust out a high-tier spell, I'll draw the eyes of every God in the city."
"Plus, I don't even know the exact effects or limits of [Healing Fire]. I need a baseline."
Since his Falna had granted him new abilities, he needed a safe place to experint. He lacked combat experience and couldn't afford to go in blind.
"That makes sense," Hestia nodded, putting on her serious face. A useless Goddess she might be, but when it ca to her Familia's safety, she did her job.
[Healing Fire]. Plus the three passive resistances.
The charm resistance had already proven its worth, but the temporal and spatial resistances were wild cards. The spatial inventory was a beast of a skill that needed proper utilization. The portal was a given—it was his main traversal tool.
"But our Familia is just the two of us. Who is going to help us test it?" Hestia asked.
"I already have soone in mind," August said confidently.
He had originally planned to co back alone to test his limits. But bringing an unsealed Goddess along changed everything. With a goddess operating at maximum power by his side, any potential negotiations or tests on Earth just beca playing on easy mode.
"You'll see tomorrow."
