Pei Yuhang walked up to the secret chamber built of Spirit Bricks. After a mont's hesitation, he pushed the door open and went inside.
Ye Liyuan had apparently learned her lesson from the last ti Pei Yuhang barged in. He had caught her completely naked before she'd had a chance to dress, so this ti, she had hung a layer of white gauze around the bed where she was recuperating.
However, the white gauze wasn't a Magical Artifact. If Pei Yuhang were to probe with his Divine Sense, he could still see through it with perfect clarity.
It would only deter a gentleman, not a villain.
Pei Yuhang was, of course, a true gentleman. Even with his own Dao Companion, he respected her privacy and wouldn't take advantage of her wantonly.
As he gazed through the hazy white gauze at the graceful, alluring silhouette of the beauty behind it, Pei Yuhang's breath quickened.
'Well... even a true gentleman has his passions. Besides, she's my most beloved beauty. It's understandable if I lose a little composure.'
Pei Yuhang regained his composure and spoke to his Dao Companion, who was absorbing Spiritual Qi to heal her injuries.
"Liyuan, the Xuanyuan Dao Sect is holding a banquet tonight. I've been invited to attend..."
"Just go, Ah Han. Did you co all this way to tell because you were afraid I'd scold you for fooling around outside? Haha~"
His Dao Companion's teasing laugh ca from behind the white gauze.
"But last ti, when I went to receive the special envoy from the Yin Yang Sacred Land without telling you, weren't you unhappy?"
'Won are so fickle,' Pei Yuhang thought. 'If you don't do what they want, they resent you, but if you do, they act all coy... Still, as long as it's Liyuan, I find all of it charming and cute.'
"Hmph, last ti I was angry because I was worried about you. After all, you killed many Female Cultivators from the Yin Yang Sacred Land back then and offended a lot of people. I was afraid that group of shaless, filthy won would try to harm you."
"But for sothing as minor as attending a banquet held by our own Sect, you don't need to co and tell , Ah Han."
"I'm not so weird woman who would possess you, hide you away, and forbid you from seeing anyone, haha~"
Ye Liyuan's voice was full of ease and trust in Pei Yuhang. She believed her Dao Companion was just going to a banquet, not to do anything strange.
Pei Yuhang, however, lowered his head and remained silent.
'Oh, Liyuan, tonight's banquet is no small matter... I might have to disappoint you...'
Out of a sense of guilt, Pei Yuhang spent the entire day with his Dao Companion.
This made Ye Liyuan very happy, although she was always saying things like, "You jerk, Ah Han, all you know is how to take advantage of and disturb my recovery," and "You clumsy Ah Han, this massage isn't comfortable at all, just get out."
But the hand gripping Pei Yuhang's lapel tightly didn't look like it wanted to push him away at all.
Seeing how much his Dao Companion cherished him, the guilt in Pei Yuhang's heart grew heavier. He would rather she treated him poorly; maybe then he would feel a little better.
But Pei Yuhang knew that was impossible.
After all, being outwardly proud and dismissive while inwardly cherishing and adoring him more than anyone—that was the Ye Liyuan he loved.
And so, a tender day for the two of them slowly passed.
Perhaps because she hadn't had a proper conversation with anyone since her grave injury and seclusion, Ye Liyuan nestled in Pei Yuhang's arms and talked all day long, mostly reminiscing about their past adventures.
It wasn't until dusk that Ye Liyuan grew a little tired from talking, and weariness showed in her beautiful eyes.
Pei Yuhang gently stroked his Dao Companion's soft hair and, as if lulling a child to sleep, said in a soothing, gentle voice:
"Liyuan, it's ti to rest. Your body is still weak. You need to recuperate properly..."
"Mm, Ah Han, when will I be able to ride a sword with you again and watch the sunrise from above the clouds, like we used to?"
"Soon. My dear Liyuan, get plenty of rest. Once you're all better, I'll take you for Sword Flight."
Pei Yuhang reached out and smoothed a few stray strands of hair on his Dao Companion's forehead.
"You anie, Ah Han... You used to call Mommy Liyuan... Just wait until I'm healed, I'll step all over you with my feet again..."
Under Pei Yuhang's patient caress, Ye Liyuan let out a cute yawn and drifted off to sleep.
A happy smile graced the corner of her lips. Perhaps she was dreaming of riding a sword with Pei Yuhang again, soaring through the clouds to admire the sunrise over the Xuanyuan Dao Sect.
As Pei Yuhang was about to leave, he wanted to pat Ye Liyuan's head, but he was afraid of waking her, so he decided against it.
As he walked out of the bedroom, the Transmission Token at his waist let out an annoying, piercing BUZZ.
Pei Yuhang's first instinct was to slice the Transmission Token in two, but upon seeing the caller was Elder Liu, he could only calm himself and accept the call.
"Palace Master Pei, the banquet is about to begin."
"Yes, I'm about to set off now. I was just with my Dao Companion. Please forgive the delay, Elder Liu."
"Oh, is that so? Fairy Ye is truly fortunate to be joined in a happy union with a responsible Cultivator like you, Palace Master Pei."
"Everything you've done for Fairy Ye, Palace Master Pei, is known throughout the Xuanyuan Dao Sect. The other Female Cultivators are now calling her 'the Happiest Fairy,' haha~"
Elder Liu's words made Pei Yuhang blush. 'If it weren't for Shang Miaoyan, I probably would have accepted that title with pride, wouldn't I?'
But now, the more Elder Liu praised him, the more ashad he felt.
So, Pei Yuhang chose to end the conversation.
"Ahem, Elder Liu, I'm about to depart. I'll end the call now."
"Yes, of course... There are many Cultivators in the sky tonight. Please be careful during your Sword Flight, Palace Master Pei."
After ending the call with Elder Liu, Pei Yuhang condensed a Flying Sword from Spiritual Qi, jumped onto it, and shot into the sky. The air split by the sword's edge ford a white line that trailed behind him.
As he flew through the sky, he saw the masters of many cave residences on Sword Flight above the clouds. 'They must all be heading to the banquet,' he thought.
Seeing that these Cultivators were all riding their own Lifebound Spirit Swords, Pei Yuhang felt a little envious.
'Honestly, if Bai Jingjing weren't so dead set against standing on her, I'd really love to know what it feels like to ride Silence.'
Perhaps sensing its master was having so wicked thoughts, Silence, hanging from his waist, trembled twice.
"You were just thinking about riding , weren't you?" Bai Jingjing's disgruntled voice echoed in his mind.
Pei Yuhang knew that if he answered yes, he'd be stuck dealing with the little brat's nagging. He couldn't be bothered to argue with her mid-flight.
So, without a change in expression, he sent back his reply via Divine Sense, "I wasn't."
"Tch, you're totally lying. If you want to ride , just say it. What, you don't have the guts...?"
"If I say it, will you let ride you into the sky?"
"You bastard! So you *did* want to ride !"
"..."
'Just as I thought,' he sighed inwardly. 'The little brat's starting up again.'
