"Spirit Suppression Bureau?"

Lin Heng showed a trace of surprise, as he was not unfamiliar with this na.

According to Master Qingxu, the Spirit Suppression Bureau was a cultivator organization nurtured by the Empire, tasked with handling supernatural events across various locations to maintain the peace of the cities!

However, being cultivators, they remained hidden from the public eye in a society that revered science.

Hence, they were also known as the Night Watchers!

One could say that if it weren’t for the resurgence of demons and the rampant rise of supernatural events nowadays,

ordinary people might never know of such an organization in their lifeti!

Even Lin Heng was eting soone from the Spirit Suppression Bureau for the first ti at this mont.

But why did she co here?

Lin Heng’s eyes were filled with doubt.

Yan Tong had an excellent appearance, radiant and cold, with short hair that was neat and capable, and her deanor as she ran all the way here was quite spirited.

Yet, when facing him, her posture was exceedingly respectful.

Lin Heng did not hold his status as noble and returned a Daoist salute calmly and naturally, saying indifferently:

"I am Lin Heng of the Daoist School."

"I wonder what brings Scholar Yan here?"

The Spirit Suppression Bureau never reveals its identity in public, and since the other party has openly disclosed their background, it’s likely they have a request to make.

Lin Heng was curious to hear what she had to say.

However, to Lin Heng’s surprise, she did not rush to reveal her purpose but instead took out a bottle of elixirs.

"Observatory Master Lin, we already know about your deeds last night of vanquishing the East Suburb Evil Spirit City God."

"The Guardian specially sent to present this bottle of fourth-grade elixir as a token of the Spirit Suppression Bureau’s gratitude to you!"

Her alabaster hands held the jade bottle, offering it respectfully towards Lin Heng.

Lin Heng suddenly realized.

No wonder there were continuous notifications of reputation 1 1 in his mind in the early morning; it seed that the scene of killing the Evil Spirit City God yesterday had been posted online.

It must have been the villagers, no doubt.

Last night, Lin Heng had noticed a very young villager filming the entire process.

He certainly wouldn’t stop such actions.

After all, posting scenes of slaying demons and exorcising spirits online was highly beneficial for changing the reputation of Daoism.

Of course, he would never proactively record such things himself.

As the system had clearly stated in the rewards for gaining reputation, the host must let things take their natural course and not try to force it.

"Slaying demons and exorcising spirits is inherently the duty of a Daoist practitioner."

"There’s no need for your organization to thank ."

Lin Heng said with an air of nonchalance, not reaching out to take the bottle of elixirs.

Yan Tong was sowhat taken aback upon hearing this.

One must know that she had already indicated it was a fourth-grade elixir.

At this level, it was a rare item, not only in the Spirit Suppression Bureau but also when accounting for Zen Spirit Temple across the entire Chang City!

It is no exaggeration to say that a single pill from this could make a Postnatal Realm cultivator serve devotedly at one’s beck and call.

Even those in the Innate Realm would be greatly tempted!

Yet, the young Observatory Master before her showed no interest whatsoever.

This caused Yan Tong’s expression to grow slightly more solemn as she spoke:

"The Observatory Master’s righteousness commands respect, but regardless, you have indeed removed a significant threat for our Chang City."

"As an imperial organization, the Spirit Suppression Bureau should certainly express its gratitude!"

"I implore the Observatory Master not to refuse!"

She bent her body, offering the elixirs with great respect.

Lin Heng, however, said calmly, "Alright, if you have sothing to say, please speak directly."

"I don’t like guessing gas."

As the saying goes, no one visits the Three-Treasure Hall for nothing, and with an organization as clandestine as the Spirit Suppression Bureau coming early to present gifts, Lin Heng did not believe it was rely an expression of thanks.

And indeed, as he suspected.

Seeing how straightforward he was, Yan Tong took a deep breath and spoke solemnly:

"Alright, since the Observatory Master asks, I’ll be candid!"

"In truth, I’m here to seek the Observatory Master’s help!"

Lin Heng remained noncommittal and slightly raised his brows, signaling for her to continue.

Yan Tong explained plainly, recounting the events at the crematorium in detail.

Apparently, a few days ago, there was a case of resurrection at the crematorium.

The night shift staff, unfortunately, t an untily end.

Since it didn’t cause any disturbances, the following day, the crematorium staff continued to work as usual.

Ultimately, they all went missing.

Later, another funeral car entered, but it, too, vanished without a trace.

Eventually, soone realized sothing was amiss and called the police.

But who could have thought that even the investigators sent there also lost contact in the crematorium?

Finally, the situation caught the attention of the Spirit Suppression Bureau.

Yet no one expected that once the Spirit Suppression Bureau mbers went in, they too did not co out!

"So, just within your Spirit Suppression Bureau, eighteen people have been lost in succession..."

Lin Heng furrowed his brow slightly and curiously asked, "What were the cultivation realms of these eighteen people?"

Yan Tong replied gravely, "Ten were around the stage of Great Success in Qi Refining, seven were from the Early to Mid-Stage of Postnatal, and one was our second strongest, just below the Guardian, having reached the Innate Realm half a month ago!"

"And the ssage that those with fragile mortal bodies are dood to die if they enter was relayed by this Innate Realm elder!"

At this point, a trace of sorrow appeared on Yan Tong’s face.

"These individuals were so of the rare experts of our Spirit Suppression Bureau, and yet we unexpectedly lost eighteen this ti; we truly don’t know what to do..."

She looked at Lin Heng with helpless eyes.

Yet, she saw him muttering to himself.

"So, entering the Innate Realm just made soone the second strongest in the Spirit Suppression Bureau? This level of the Spirit Suppression Bureau seems quite ordinary?"

Lin Heng muttered with a frown, originally thinking that this mysterious imperial organization was filled with bigshots.

"Uh..."

"Observatory Master, perhaps you have so misconceptions about the Innate Realm?"

Yan Tong felt speechless hearing his mutterings.

One must realize that cultivation itself is arduous; those lucky enough to enter the door of Qi Refining are said to have extraordinary luck!

Those who reach the Postnatal Realm are considered imnsely fortunate.

And the Innate Realm?

It can be said that among loose cultivators, finding even one in ten thousand is rare!

Even the abbot of Zen Spirit Temple, a renowned Buddhist monk in Chang City, is only at this realm.

Chang City Spirit Suppression Bureau having two Innate Realm experts is incredibly rare and precious.

For this Observatory Master to dismiss them is sothing she hadn’t expected.

Yet upon further thought,

This Observatory Master being able to easily slay the Evil Spirit City God has higher standards, which is understandable!

"Observatory Master, to be frank, based on our estimations, soone is likely refining a Corpse Demon inside the crematorium!"

"The corpse aura there is overwhelming, and the Corpse Demon is likely about to take form."

"If it is left unchecked, the consequences may be unimaginable."

"Therefore, I am here to request you, no, to beg you!"

"I beg you to lend us your aid!"

"As long as you are willing to help, the Spirit Suppression Bureau will surely exhaust all ans to et your demands!"

As Yan Tong spoke, her knees softened, intending to kneel.

Unexpectedly, the Daoist reached out to stop her, then asked a question that left her puzzled.

"Surely your Spirit Suppression Bureau knows the whereabouts of many demons and supernatural occurrences?"
