The Senior Soldier didn’t blush at Lynch’s teasing like Cook did. He shook his head, "Of course not. I don’t have any plans to get married right now."
His job is very dangerous. Don’t think that just because he’s no longer a soldier in the Federation Army, his work has beco safe. Who knows when soone might want to harm Lynch, and with so many unregulated firearms around, he could lose his life at any mont.
While serving in the army, like most of his comrades, he looked down on those in civilian military roles, believing that these gutless guys were only suited for office work rather than wielding weapons on the battlefield.
But right now, he envies those people. He plans to work in frontline positions for a few years; by then he would be around thirty-four or thirty-five, still not too old.
Once he’s saved so money and gained Lynch’s trust, he will switch to a civilian role, and at that point, he plans to get married.
Perhaps he will find soone his age, or maybe soone younger; isn’t that currently a trend?
Seeing the smile on the Senior Soldier’s face, Lynch couldn’t help but tease again, "I’ve recently heard that many foreigners are getting married here, and so even plan to marry several..."
The polygamous system in Nagariel is, to be honest, quite attractive to many foreigners. Allegedly, so people, around fifty years old, have started claiming Federation retirent benefits early for various reasons and are actively preparing to settle here.
They can receive a pension of two to three hundred from the Federation Governnt each month, which is insignificant in the Federation but a high salary in Nagariel.
This money can easily support a family, even several family mbers. These people will beco a unique branch in the integration of local and foreign cultures, making an extraordinary contribution to promoting the Federation spirit.
The Senior Soldier chuckled at Lynch’s seemingly teasing or joking question, "I won’t allow myself to do that, Boss..."
"From a young age, I received education that told we are the best country in the world. Later, when I beca a soldier, everyone told to love my country and fight for it."
"Maybe so people won’t bring this into their lives, but I will. I won’t marry a woman who’s not a Federation citizen, and I definitely won’t get married here."
Then he paused, realizing that if he kept talking nonsense, he might not be able to convey to Lynch the purpose of his presence here, "Boss, let’s talk about sothing useful. We need to recruit so locals."
As soon as business was ntioned, Lynch’s expression beca slightly more serious, "Are we currently facing so troubles?"
The Senior Soldier nodded slightly, "We are very different from the natives here, and we can’t blend in among them. We are taller than them, with lighter skin. Once we are among the locals, they can instinctively spot us, making many of our tasks harder to accomplish."
"If we can recruit so locals to work for us, so tasks that are unsuitable for us will beco easier!"
"For instance, investigating issues like the Nagariel Youth Party. Our recent investigations show that since the turmoil, the activities of the Nagariel Youth Party have completely quieted down, until the last big parade. I suspect they have gone underground, which makes it harder for us to catch them. We need to arrange for soone to find a way to infiltrate them, but..." He shrugged his shoulders regretfully.
"Look at , people like wouldn’t even get close to their organization; they would avoid from a distance."
This is indeed a problem. The mutual dispatch of spies between Gafura and the Federation is hard to detect because Gafura people and Federation people have very similar appearances.
The Federation is an immigrant nation with no true core ethnicity or group. Its people are adventurous, gold diggers, refugees, exiles, and so criminals from all over the world, which has created a Federation society where a random person could have a multitude of bloodlines.
Additionally, from subtropical to temperate regions, the physical appearance differences aren’t significant, so it’s easy to dispatch spies or whatnot in those countries. But for equatorial countries, the Federation’s mixed blood composition doesn’t offer any advantage because they can’t find groups resembling tropical races.
It’s impossible to find reliable people from the Federation to send to Nagariel.
"What do you propose?" Lynch didn’t imdiately give his opinion. He looked at the Senior Soldier, "If I agree with you, what’s your plan?"
"Recruit so locals!" The Senior Soldier’s response was quick and swift; he was prepared and already had a good and comprehensive plan.
This is an important step for his transition to a civilian role. If he can prove that he can handle civilian work, it would be much easier for him to bring this up with Lynch in the future.
"Go on!"
"I’ve also been paying attention to the local situation and understanding the social structure. I’ve found so people different from most locals..."
To better protect Lynch and all clients’ safety, the Senior Soldier isn’t idle. Besides personally taking charge of Lynch’s security when he occasionally goes out, he handles other tasks, such as analyzing dangerous groups.
This is a habit he developed while being a soldier. Federation Army soldiers have never participated in brutal battles. Many have never even gone abroad for military actions, so their practical skills may not be as strong as others, and people worldwide believe this.
The image of Federation soldiers fearing war and trembling at the sound of gunfire has been widely circulated in so countries through comics. Even Gafura once had such propaganda!
A huge poster depicted Federation soldiers and so other Neutral Countries’ soldiers unable to wear their uniforms properly, trembling behind cover, while only Gafura people bravely went to the battlefield.
Below it, they specially wrote very inspiring phrases - only we can save the world!
The propaganda was very accurate and well-placed, if not for their army being considered the weakest in the world.
Without real battle validation and ignoring practical war capabilities, theoretically, the Federation army might have the world’s best theoretical knowledge reserve.
While soldiers of other countries focus on surviving longer on the battlefield, Federation soldiers waste taxpayers’ money, creating a set of theories that haven’t been practically used, including the "Early Warning Theory."
This theory involves imagining what kind of enemies might exist in hypothetical areas and studying these enemies’ remarkable traits to categorize all targets soldiers see as potentially dangerous.
The benefit is that soldiers can identify and counter enemies before they pose a life-threatening risk, rather than after an attack incurs harm.
The most common early warning trait is weapons. They believe that in combat zones, any ard non-Federation soldiers are adversarial targets within the early warning scope, and they will shoot without hesitation, regardless of whether they hit the wrong person, because war is humanity’s most foolish decision; they’re only making the foolish even more foolish.
Since arriving here, the Senior Soldier has been applying the early warning theory. While analyzing the population composition, he found that not all locals are hostile to foreigners; so locals desire relationships with foreigners or are even willing to serve them.
These people aren’t a minority; they are commonly found. The Senior Soldier aims to recruit these individuals.
They will beco foreigners’ most reliable friends, helping Darkstone Security and Mr. Lynch identify opponents.
Lynch kept nodding as he listened to him. Lynch was aware of the efforts the Senior Soldier was putting in, and he hoped to have a capable subordinate.
After listening to so of his words, Lynch asked a question, "How do you ensure the loyalty of these people?"
"If their loyalty can’t be assured, the Youth Party might use this opportunity to infiltrate us."
The Senior Soldier scratched his head, "That’s also why I ca to you, Boss. Maybe you can give so good advice?"
"I’ve thought of many thods myself, like giving them money or offering them so power and status, but sohow these don’t seem enough."
"I always feel like sothing is lacking, and so people can remain indifferent in front of these."
Those with ideals and persistence, especially the awakening young, aren’t easily swayed by these things, but besides offering these, the Senior Soldier doesn’t know what else to do, so he seeks Lynch’s help.
Lynch pondered for a few seconds, "We know so people don’t care about the amount of money, so don’t care whether they hold power, and so don’t care about others’ opinions of them, because they have their own convictions."
"So... how about we offer them an idealistic future?"
"Allow them to beco Federation citizens after working for a certain period and achieving so ’performance,’ or give them an opportunity to realize their ideals and pursuits."
"I agree with your plan. You go ahead with the arrangents, and if there’s good news, rember to tell !"
The Senior Soldier looked excited, saluted formally, and turned to leave.
Watching the slowly closing door, Lynch slightly turned his chair and humd an unknown tune while gazing at the distant beach.
