Late at night, past eleven, Gap finally returned ho from the company, exhausted. During this period, he had been dealing with so traces in the company accounts related to Henghui Group.

So things weren’t on the books, yet money was added in; so were on the books, yet the numbers weren’t quite right. It wasn’t just one ssy account; there were many.

It was through this arduous work during this ti that he suddenly gained a vague understanding of certain matters.

A group similar in size or even larger than the Ristone Group where he worked, Henghui Group, suddenly fell into a quagmire. This wasn’t just simple tax evasion; it might have sothing to do with foreign investnt involved.

Gap wasn’t sure where this feeling ca from; when he began handling this aspect of the company’s issues, he was also closely following news of the Henghui Group scandal. From his perspective, there was actually nothing wrong over at Henghui.

"Maybe I shouldn’t think so much..." he said to himself as he steered the vehicle off the main road and into the community entrance.

These big cases were too far removed from him. Forget about influence or interference; he wasn’t even able to do anything about them. His interest in the case was purely out of curiosity.

Gap’s car was registered in the community, so when he approached the checkpoint, the security guard promptly raised the barrier for him. Gap managed a smile and said thank you.

In fact, sotis politeness doesn’t stem from good breeding or character, but rather from maintaining a more positive image. This can be seen as adult hypocrisy or as knowledge necessary for entering society.

In the eyes of Gap and many like him, it was just a simple thank you, yet it was enough to improve their image sowhat.

As he was about to hit the gas pedal to drive onto the road within the community, the security guard seed hesitant to speak, with a curious look on his face.

People who do nurical work are typically very attentive; those who aren’t attentive can’t do such work. Gap’s brow furrowed slightly, and he pulled his foot back from the gas pedal, saying, "Do you have sothing you want to tell ?"

The security guard originally didn’t intend to interfere, but Gap was so polite, which counted as "respect" towards him, that it made it hard for him not to say sothing, though he felt it was inappropriate.

His conflicted deanor made Gap even more curious, "If there’s sothing important, please do tell ; maybe it’s crucial for ?" he used the word "please," signaling his seriousness.

Only then did the security guard smile wryly and sigh, saying, "I really shouldn’t ddle, Mr. Gap, but..." he shook his head, who knows what that ant, "Mrs. Vera returned tonight in a car with a young man, and that man was very handso..."

Having said this, the security guard stopped, having spoken his mind. Such matters were strictly prohibited.

Whether in mid-tier or high-tier communities, the service companies that provide support strictly prohibit employees from disclosing or discussing anything related to the residents.

Every year, there are many lawsuits surrounding privacy, and every employee undergoes professional training before starting their job. But Gap hid things well, and today’s security guard still had remnants of innocence found in most lower-tier social individuals, and he said sothing he shouldn’t have.

Gap’s face instantly turned unpleasant, though he still managed a forced smile as he tossed a pack of cigarettes from the window, "Thanks, I had soone send her back."

Only then did the security guard breathe a sigh of relief, "Is that so, that’s good, I almost thought..." he spoke with so embarrassnt, not noticing Gap’s dark mood almost blending into the surrounding darkness.

When Gap parked the car and opened the house door with a somber expression, he had never thought there would be any problems with his marriage.

He was young, handso, held an enviable job, had significant assets, and was on the verge of becoming a junior partner at Ristone Group.

Though just a junior partner, he already surpassed most people; he was already stepping onto a higher rung. No woman would leave him, just like those cheap girls at the company.

Yet he was now very angry, considering soone he treated as an important embellishnt in his life, used to enhance his social completeness, a little pet he nurtured, dared to entertain thoughts that displeased him.

No chauvinist could endure this!

He pushed open the guest room door; they were still locked in a cold war, still sleeping in separate rooms.

Vera hadn’t fallen asleep yet; she had the bedside lamp on, reading a managent book. It was sothing Gap had previously bought, and now she was reading it.

Won who have had a drink are like this; they beco more emotional and exhibit a reckless tendency to act on impulse, reading while slightly drunk... is it really effective?

Not necessarily, but they will use their "efforts" to emotionally move themselves!

As the door opened, Gap looked at Vera, and Vera t Gap’s gaze. They stared at each other for a mont before Gap suddenly asked, "Did you drink tonight?"

Vera put down her book, "Does it matter to you?"

Gap was a bit annoyed now; he worked hard outside, while this woman fooled around with another man at night. He had been suppressing his emotions, but they still leaked out a bit.

His voice was filled with a strange, wounded hoarseness, "You betrayed !"

A trace of displeasure appeared on Vera’s face, "I was just talking work with a friend, and I don’t have marks on my butt!"

Her words instantly brought Gap to his senses; that day was the greatest humiliation of his life, and he had already found a reason to kick that floozy who left lip marks on his butt out of the company.

While so little tricks could exist in the office, they shouldn’t be brought ho — whether to his own or anyone else’s, it broke the rules.

Added to the fact Vera was clearly still a bit tipsy, arguing would only make them the laughingstock of the neighbors, with the whole community knowing what happened by tomorrow morning, so rationally, he chose to stay silent.

He pointed at Vera, "Better rember you’re married!"

Vera retorted defiantly, "Do you think you rember?"

Gap felt his head was about to explode, where had that gentle, obedient wife gone?

He turned around and slamd the room door, stripped off his clothes, and went to the bathroom; he needed a shower to calm down.

In the bathroom, he saw Vera’s clothes for changing. After so ticulous investigation and reasoning, he sowhat relaxed. At least Vera hadn’t betrayed him.

His brief reprieve lasted less than a minute before he felt irked again. This woman had learned to talk back; it seed these years of doting had misled her into thinking it was indulgence. Once this period was over, he needed to have a good talk with her.

Early the next morning, Gap drove away; there were still many accounts waiting for him, and he didn’t have ti to waste at ho.

Vera only woke from her slumber a little past nine. Drinking so alcohol gave her a good night’s sleep, and after bathing, she went into the study to find sothing on managent to read.

Lynch trusted her so much; she had to make efforts to repay that trust.

As she selected a few books and was about to leave, she suddenly noticed several ledgers on Gap’s desk; any accountant actually dislikes these things but is very sensitive to them, as they’re their work.

Vera hesitated for a mont, then walked over for a glance. It was an original copy, with Ristone Company (Group) stamped clearly in small print at the ledger’s bottom...

anwhile, the security guard who had just completed the morning shift handover was preparing to sleep in the dormitory when the duty manager walked up to him with a stern face, tearing off the community work permit sticker from his chest, "You’re fired..."
