Putting aside where the thumping sound ca from, what Shido cared about more was whether that sound would scare Mikoto.

Shido turned on the light and found that the room was already covered by a thin layer of night-colored darkness, making the originally bright light turn hazy.

Because in front of one of the trees stood a woman with candles stuck into her hair, nailing sothing to the tree.

Seeing that figure, wearing candles on her head in the middle of the night and hamring sothing into a tree, even Shido felt a chill run down his spine.

He turned back and saw Mikoto already hiding completely behind him, trembling.

Thinking that, Shido charged at the Ushi no Toki woman.

After parting with Shiizaki, the two returned to their own rooms.

Now that they knew the Ushi no Toki woman was Shiizaki's doing, Mikoto should feel sowhat relieved.

However, at that mont, the sound of a bell ca from the direction of the shrine hall.
In front of a shrine hall, there was usually a large bell. Before praying, visitors would first shake the bell to tell the gods they had arrived, then make their wish.

Shido turned on the light again, jumped up, and went to Mikoto's room.
