Hello everyone, I am Qichang Jingxin.
Eh? Yutsuki and Shido? Very unfortunately, those two are exhausted this ti, so for this afterword, I'll have to answer your questions all by myself.
Cheer, everyone, there should be thunderous applause here!
Well, enough with the jokes. I'll now look through so questions in the box (Flipping pages, flipping pages...)
—The Clash of Otaku Girls —
This comnt is more about the comnts before writing this volu rather than comnts within this volu. Many readers seem to be very curious about how the story will unfold between Yutsuki and Nia, who share the otaku attribute.
Here, I want to clarify one point. When I first conceptualized the character Ryougi Yutsuki, she had nothing to do with Honjou Nia. (Volu 12 had just co out when I was writing this.) So the attribute overlap you guys perceive is purely coincidental.
And strictly speaking, Yutsuki and Nia's otaku attributes aren't the sa. Honjou Nia feels more like a product created by Tachibana combining all the various elents possessed by a typical Japanese otaku, while my concept is more of my own personal ideal form of an otaku.
As for the dialogue between the two, honestly, I was completely lost at first. After all, not many people around share my interests, and I've only chatted with a few otaku girls online. Plus, there's almost nowhere I overlap with Honjou Nia.
So, when conceptualizing this part, I took the liberty of adding an attribute to Honjou Nia that doesn't exist in the original work, or rather, I highlighted an attribute that wasn't prominent in the original work.
-Courting death-
Well, careful readers can notice. The Nia in the story often deliberately courts death by pushing Yutsuki's buttons. On one hand, this is to flesh out the dialogue between the characters, and on the other hand, it's so the plot and conflicts can develop reasonably.
Of course, constantly courting death would be a bit too much, so for many dialogues, I glossed over them by having Nia make ani references and Yutsuki retorting to them.
However, the way otakus communicate is probably mostly like this anyway.
By the way, regarding the character Honjou Nia, I actually think her design is very creative. Perhaps she isn't my favorite character in Date A Live, but she is the character I think has the most potential to be explored in depth. However, this volu in the original work is clearly ant as a transitional volu, and Honjou Nia's presence in the later stages feels slightly thin, which makes feel a bit regretful.
Of course, I'm not saying Tachibana didn't flesh out Nia's design enough. After reading the original work carefully, I found that Honjou Nia's otaku attribute is indeed vividly depicted, refreshing much of my understanding of the "otaku" concept.
But how should I put it... it's a sha. My personal wish is to see so more unique shining points from Honjou Nia.
If things go smoothly, I might try to write them out in the upcoming plots.
— rge, Future Glimpse—
You guys thought I was referencing Steins;Gate, but actually, the truth is my JoJo's Bizarre Adventure!
Well, strictly speaking, it's both.
How should I put it... After all, the original work is already out there, so I believe many readers have a good idea of the plot's direction. Therefore, when I was conceptualizing it, I planned to add so original plotlines not present in the original work to raise expectations.
The Future Glimpse that appeared in the Origami volu was a foreshadowing planted for this volu.
How do you change an unchangeable future? I believe when everyone saw Yutsuki and Nia's Angels connect and predict Nia's inevitable death, the first reaction was definitely to associate it with Steins;Gate: how to create the illusion that Nia was stabbed but didn't actually die.
Instead of thinking that the character in the picture wasn't Honjou Nia at all, hahahahahahahaha!
Well, considering the story's direction, when incorporating this plot, I altered a rather crucial original plotline.
-Artemisia-
This character actually makes her first official appearance in the original work here. While Ellen is stalled by the Spirits and Shido is saving Nia, she suddenly charges out and pins Shido to the ground, rcilessly beating him.
Here, I changed it so she falls for Shido and Yutsuki's trap, passes out, and exits the stage. (Side-eye)
Well, when reading this part, everyone thought Nia would be able to survive while keeping her Sephira Crystal. But since that would create a massive deviation from the original flow—the Spirit appearing in the next volu would just sleep eternally in space, and a key plot point I conceptualized for later wouldn't be able to unfold—it naturally couldn't be changed.
So, how do we get the story back on track after this divine twist? Very simple, just let Ellen show off her divine might. Hehe, you guys are always calling her the strongest Wizard (laughs), so this ti I'll have Big Sis Ellen slap your faces.
Ellen Mira Mathers—Well done!
—One day, sword in hand, I will slaughter all the cliffhanger dogs in the world—
Ah, I'm so scared, so terribly scared~
(Even though your mouth says no, your body is enjoying it very much. Hmph~)
I expressed disdain in my heart, but on the surface, I acted scared and said that.
Ahem—Speaking seriously, the 65th page of the manga Shido and the others drew in this volu, as well as the serialized novel online, are both my own concepts.
You guys might be going crazy over the cliffhanger at the end, but honestly, aren't you enjoying it very much too? (Shrug)
Learning how to keep readers in suspense is a basic skill for an author. Since you guys felt so anxious reading it, it's only natural that Shido and the others' manga in the story could conquer Nia with its quality.
As for the many people asking if the novel plot in the story will appear in future storylines:
No comnt, use your imagination.
But I can answer you responsibly. If you just think it will be exactly like that, you are completely wrong. (Wicked smile)
—Alterations, New Character —
Well, I believe everyone knows that during the Shido Burst volu, I declared that I would make significant alterations to the Nia volu.
Like the Future Glimpse ntioned above, Artemisia's defeat, and so scattered details.
But the most obvious one among them is undoubtedly the newly added character this ti—Ai Mulian.
Let clarify beforehand, this character has nothing to do with the original work. Like Yutsuki, she is a new character I conceptualized myself. However, this ti it's not a Spirit, but a Wizard, and a DEM Wizard at that. She takes the position Origami held in the previous worldline, standing in opposition to Shido and the others.
Why design this character? The main reason can be sumd up in one word—Balance.
After Yutsuki joined the protagonist's team, didn't Shido and the others' overall strength increase significantly? Honestly, although I confird with authoritative figures that even so, Westcott would still be as steady as a rock, I personally still wanted to introduce more concrete factors to ensure the villains' strength.
Otherwise, wouldn't Ellen be the only truly loyal and capable subordinate DEM Industries actually has? Damn it, this would be a complete replica of Gin from the Black Organization(TL:Detective Conan character, funny as hell, at this point in the story, only him is the real deal, while the others mber are all police, fbi, cia and all kind of undercover lmao, what a group). (Tears). So, this volu actually contains another purpose—strengthening the villains.
This doesn't just refer to DEM Industries; the threat level of the inverted Nia is also a part of it. Honestly, regarding the battle description of saving Nia in the original work, to speak from the heart... the imrsion is extrely poor. Seriously, the first ti I read that part in the original work, I hadn't even understood what happened in the battle before Nia's Sephira Crystal was snatched away by Artemisia.
It's the sa principle as playing a ga: if you don't design challenging and difficult levels, it doesn't matter how high you boost the player character's stats, it's boring.
In summary, I created this new original character, Ai Mulian, to facilitate future plot developnts.
However—what I said above are rely superficial reasons.
The character Ai Mulian... actually has a reference prototype.
You guys! You guys! The inspiration for birthing this character ca exactly from you guys!
Don't you guys really like Yutsuki?
Among you, aren't there many who want to see the plot of Yutsuki despairing and inverting?
Isn't this exactly the sa as Mulian? Many people ask why I chose this na. It's a very simple reason: Ai Mulian (Ai Wu Lian) sounds like Ai (Love) Wu (Without) Lian (Pity) in Chinese.
Even though she likes the other person, she doesn't even have the most basic sense of pity, and wants to see the other person's despairing expression as they are tornted.
What a twisted and alien kind of love! The only difference between Mulian and you guys is that she turned the desires in her heart into practical actions.
I said a long ti ago, those of you looking forward to Yutsuki's inversion will eventually regret the words you've said. Watch closely, what Mulian does from now on is equivalent to your sins, and this is just the beginning. Pay the price for everything you've done! Foolish humans!
—Hhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! ヾ(?°?°?)ノ?

....
Um, what did everyone just see? You didn't see anything, right?
OK, moving on to the next keyword.
— Kinda losing interest in reading the original work —
...Mhm. Honestly, when I saw this comnt, my feelings were a bit subtle.
Of course, personally speaking, I consider this a complint. If you ask if I'm happy, I am indeed happy. But using this to negate the original work is sowhat inappropriate.
Ultimately, this novel is just a fan fiction, not an original work. No matter how well I alter it, I'm just standing on the shoulders of giants, taking a few more looks, and adding a few strokes according to my own thoughts.
Tracing back to the source, if there was no Date A Live, there could be no This Is Not the Date I Wanted.
Although I personally often complain about certain plot points in the original story, at most these can only be considered minor blemishes, not flaws.
I love the novel Date A Live, that is for sure, otherwise I wouldn't be writing a fan fiction of it.
The original novel is still very interesting. Although Tachibana's plot developnts are a bit exaggerated, in my opinion, they haven't reached the level of "letting oneself go wild" as rumors suggest.
I hope that if readers are interested, they will also go and read the original work of this fan fiction, Date A Live.
— So words from the author —
Alright, I've pretty much said everything I wanted to say, and this afterword is drawing to a close.
As for upcoming promises, I'll probably write two short stories from different ti periods first, and then enter the plot of the Mukuro volu.
—————— End —————————
Well then, everyone, see you next ti!
