Sunday, January 15th.
With a little unease and nervousness, Itsuka Shido arrived at room 214 of the Spirit apartnt—Yutsuki's door.
"Okay, stay natural—"
Taking a deep breath, Shido raised his hand and knocked on the door.
"Who is it?"
"It's , Shido. Do you have a mont, Yutsuki?"
"Oh, wait a second."
Yutsuki didn't make Shido wait long. Soon, the electronic lock on the door beeped, and Yutsuki walked out wearing only a thin tank top and shorts.
"Want to co in?"
"N-No, it is fine."
Shido awkwardly looked away. Because the tank top covered so little, a large area of smooth skin was exposed to Shido's gaze. The slender limbs went without saying, but the soft flesh at the base of her thighs and the side of her breasts could be seen faintly through the gaps in her clothes. It gave off an indescribable lazy yet sexy beauty, making Shido unsure where to look.
"I just wanted to talk to you. I will leave as soon as I am done."
"Eh..."
After looking at Shido thoughtfully for a mont, Yutsuki nodded readily.
"Perfect, I also have sothing I want to talk to you about. Since that is the case, want to go for a walk outside? We can talk while we walk."
"Eh? Well... I am fine with that."
Shido was stunned for a mont. Although a bit confused, he still nodded without objecting.
(Huh, is this an invitation for a date?) Shido thought while his heart start beating faster.
"This is not a date, you know." Seemingly seeing through Shido's thoughts, Yutsuki corrected him helplessly.
"It is just taking a walk nearby. Thinking everything is a date, Shido, your mindset is dangerous. If you keep this up, one day when you are chatting with a seventy or eighty year old granny neighbor, you might unconsciously think 'this counts as a date too', and then with that kind of self suggestion, accidentally fall in love or sothing—it's possible."
"No, no, no! That's impossible no matter how you look at it!"
Hearing Yutsuki's words, black lines covered Shido's head, and he hurriedly waved his hands to deny it.
Seeing Shido's reaction, Yutsuki couldn't help but chuckle.
"Well, just a little joke. Wait for a second, I will go change clothes."
Seemingly knowing this outfit wasn't suitable for going out, Yutsuki closed the door to change clothes.
It had to be said, unlike the situation where a normal woman would take a long ti to get ready, which was what Shido imagined, in less than two minutes, Yutsuki ca out dressed.
"That was fast."
Shido couldn't help but look at her curiously. Yutsuki was wearing ordinary black sneakers, slightly black thick jeans, and a pure white long-sleeved shirt with a few bird patterns embroidered on the sides of the waist. Although her outfit was very simple, it unexpectedly gave off a refreshing and cool feeling.
"Well, since all I did was grab two pieces of clothes from the closet and throw them on, of course it is fast."
Yutsuki shrugged and said.
"Did you not change the tank top you were wearing before?"
Shido asked a bit curiously.
"Mhm, because that is my underwear."
"Eh?"
Shido froze instantly.
"Mhm... I think it is called a bra top. When Kotori-chan and Reine dragged out to buy daily necessities before, they strongly insisted I buy a bra. But wearing it is annoying, and I heard washing it is a hassle. I asked the clerk if there was a more convenient style, and she recomnded this one to ."
Speaking of this, Yutsuki sighed with emotion. Honestly, at first, she was quite against the fact that she had to wear a bra, but this tank top didn't require any special way to wear it. Basically, you just put it on and you're good to go. Have to say, living in a creative civilized society is truly great.
However, regarding Yutsuki's words, Shido was completely ignoring them, letting them go in one ear and out the other.
(In other words... under the tank top earlier, Yutsuki... wasn't wearing anything...)
With a little imagination, Shido felt so excited he was about to get a nosebleed.
Snapping out of it, Shido noticed that Yutsuki was looking at him with a aningful smile.
"Shido, you are so perverted~"
Shido's cheeks instantly heated up. He coughed dryly and argued.
"I-Is that bad? I am a healthy guy too, it is normal to care about that. Besides, Yutsuki, you were the one wearing sothing so defenseless."
"How I dress in my own room is my freedom."
Yutsuki answered without any shyness.
"...Yutsuki, although I've vaguely felt it before, have you never seen as a mber of the opposite sex?"
"Well, you could say I have, but you could also say I haven't. Alright, let's go."
Giving a vague answer, Yutsuki smiled, shrugged, and walked toward the elevator, leaving Shido looking depressed.
—————————
Just as she said at the beginning, this outing was just a walk. Yutsuki clearly didn't have a specific destination, just casually strolling along the streetlights and sidewalks, obviously planning to head back ho when they had walked enough.
Fortunately, Shido was quite familiar with the routes around his house, so he didn't have to worry about getting lost.
"How is Mukuro doing? She went to look for you last night, right?"
Yutsuki asked curiously.
"Ah, she seems very energetic."
Last night, Mukuro invited Shido to the roof of the apartnt to watch the stars. He didn't know if it was because they were looking from a high building, or if the weather just happened to be nice that day, but the stars in the night sky were very bright, which kept Mukuro in high spirits.
Unlike before, Shido could feel that Mukuro no longer had the stubbornness she had when they first t. It was as if she had put down a heavy burden, becoming well-behaved and cute.
What surprised Shido the most was that Mukuro asked him to trim her most treasured hair.
"I see."
Hearing Shido's words, a relieved smile appeared on Yutsuki's face.
"It is a good thing you chose to save her back then."
"Mhm, yeah..."
Shido nodded in agreent.
"So, what was it you wanted to tell ? Shido."
"..."
Hearing Yutsuki's words, Shido froze for a mont, then showed a helpless bitter smile. Looking at Yutsuki's calm and gentle profile, he knew that his thoughts had been completely seen through.
"I am very sorry, Yutsuki."
Matching Yutsuki's steady pace, Shido said seriously.
"Why are you apologizing? Did you do sothing bad?"
"It is about before, when we argued on the airship. I misunderstood what you ant and yelled at you..."
"Ah, that. Haven't you already apologized twice? Why say it again? I forgave you a long ti ago."
"Mhm... how should I say it. My first apology was just going through the motions, and the second ti you didn't have the mories from back then. Being forgiven like that made feel a bit bad, so I wanted to formally apologize to you one more ti."
"I see. You really are stubborn."
Yutsuki sighed softly, a bitter smile on her lips.
"Well, actually I want to apologize to you too."
"Eh? Why?"
Shido was a bit confused.
"Mhm... it was on Thursday. Even though you were pushed into a corner by Mukuro, and I had already noticed that, I still couldn't choose to trust you. Instead, I purposely said a lot of an things to make things difficult for you. I am really—really sorry."
"That is not true at all."
Hearing Yutsuki's apology, Shido quickly denied it.
"Yutsuki didn't have her mories back then, so it was natural to suspect . It was all my own fault. Actually, because you criticized with a correct and logical attitude, I was able to understand what I needed to do. You helped a lot."
"Well, even if you say that, I cannot just let it go that easily. How about this—"
Shrugging helplessly, Yutsuki turned to look at Shido.
"Since we have both apologized and both understand the mistakes we made, let's forgive each other. I accept Shido's apology, and you accept my apology, and we will call it even."
At Yutsuki's proposal, Shido paused for a mont, then seed to figure it out and nodded in agreent.
"You are right, let's do that. I forgive you, Yutsuki."
"Mhm, I forgive you too, Shido."
After saying that, the two looked at each other and couldn't help but laugh out loud.
By this ti, Shido and Yutsuki had walked quite a distance, but neither of them suggested turning back. They strolled silently on the sidewalk in perfect harmony, enjoying this leisurely ti.
"Say, Shido, what kind of trees are these?"
Stopping halfway, Yutsuki looked at the row of bare trees on both sides of the green belt and asked curiously.
"These are cherry blossom trees. But it is still a while before they bloom, so they look a bit dismal."
"Oh, so these are cherry blossom trees!"
Seeming to imagine the beautiful sight of cherry blossoms in full bloom, a look of anticipation appeared in Yutsuki's eyes. Seeing this, Shido couldn't help but smile.
"When the cherry blossoms bloom, let's co here to see them."
"Mhm, let's co with everyone!"
"..."
"Sorry. Coming here alone with Shido to see the cherry blossoms... rather than being happy, it would just give a stomachache."
Feeling Shido's silent resentnt, Yutsuki stuck out her tongue and playfully spun half a circle.
"Alright, it is about ti we head ho."
Actually, when Shido yelled "you don't understand anything" back then, rather than being disappointed in Shido, Yutsuki was more dissatisfied with herself.
Without a doubt, compared to Shido's unreasonable viewpoint, her own opinion was more rational, more logical, and more reasonable.
However, just because she correct, doesn't an she is right. It is at most a view that is more easily accepted by the majority. In fact, there is no such thing as an absolutely correct choice in the world.(TL:another emiya lol)
Just like this ti, if they really acted according to Yutsuki's viewpoint, Hoshimiya Mukuro could only forever lock her emotions and mories, drifting alone in the universe.
Sotis, thinking reasonably is equal to giving up on thinking, just finding a boring excuse for your own convenience.
Yutsuki would not say her ideas were wrong. But, if Shido could still firmly choose to save Mukuro even after understanding all the difficulties and contradictions, then she would also support Shido without hesitation.
"Hey, Shido."
When they were almost ho, Yutsuki called Shido's na.
"What is it?"
"Nothing~"
Under Shido's confused gaze, Yutsuki shook her head and replied with a wicked smile.
"Just calling your na."
