To be completely honest, after living in this world for a while, Yutsuki finally realized just how terribly inconvenient it was to be a so called 'top tier race' like a Spirit.
Sure, possessing overwhelming power was great, but the price was being completely block from human society. In a world still dominated by human civilization, an absolute minority races like a Spirit was essentially treated as a global enemy.
Yutsuki was extrely dissatisfied with her current life. No TV, no smartphone, no computer. She had basically zero access to anything related to her otaku lifestyle. Even though a Spirit's body didn't strictly need to eat, wouldn't feel hunger, and could use spirit energy to automatically cleanse itself of dirt without showering, Yutsuki still chose to find ways to eat and bathe. If she didn't, she felt like she would lose the few remaining joys she had left to enjoy.
However, none of this was the main reason for her headache.
The weightless sensation gradually faded, her five senses cleared, and she felt the solid, heavy dirt beneath her feet. Yutsuki's heart felt a mix of relief and bitterness.
I'm back in the real world again.
Looking at the crater that looked exactly like it had been blown open by high yield explosives, just as usual Yutsuki massaged her temples in headache.
If she didn't understand the reason why Spirits—and by extension, herself—were shunned at first, seeing this exact sa scenery on repeat made her understand it perfectly.
If you drop soone who cos with an innate, ultra-wide-range AoE nuke right into the middle of a city, do you want humanity to go extinct or what?
"Coordinates KX8964. Target identified: Thor. All units, prepare for combat!"
As if right on cue, shortly after Yutsuki materialized, an army of cha girls ca flying in, radiating bloodlust.
"Here they co again," Yutsuki sighed helplessly, as if she were completely used to this routine. She called out in a steady, slow voice: "Co forth, Ratziel!"
Blue and white electricity gathered in her left hand, shifting and twisting before finally taking a physical form.
It was a longbow, nearly as tall as she was. Unlike the smooth, elegant curve of a standard bow, the two ends of this bow jutted out with sharp, jagged angles like branching bolts of lightning. Its surface reflected a cold, dark blue tallic sheen.
Missiles. Gunfire. Facing the dense barrage, Yutsuki simply expanded her electromagnetic field. The incoming munitions acted as if they were drunk, swaying and curving safely around her.
"Lightning Spears. Scatter!"
Her fingers pulled back the transparent bowstring and lightly let go. A barrage of lightning, dense as a torrential downpour, exploded outward. Before the AST could react, their Territory shields were shattered by the concentrated electricity. An intense, paralyzing shock wracked their bodies, instantly rendering them combat ineffective.
They weren't dead. In truth, with her raw ability alone, Yutsuki couldn't precisely calculate the exact voltage needed to break their shields and cause just enough paralysis without killing them. While she was dexterous enough, her brain didn't possess the superhuman computational power of the Espers from Academy City. Triggering a raw lightning strike using her own electricity was one thing, but pulling off complex, high-calculation moves like Misaka's Iron Sand manipulation or the Railgun was simply beyond her reach right now.
But things were different when she had Ratziel. Rather than a simple weapon or a power amplifier, the Angel acted more like a proxy computer. It could process the complex formulas required for her techniques. In other words, with this Angel equipped, Yutsuki only needed to think about what she wanted to do, without having to stress over how to execute it perfectly.
However, this didn't an her problems were solved. As the vanguard squad collapsed, several AST mbers who had been hiding behind the ruins ambushed her, charging forward with beam swords raised.
At this distance, the flaw of Ratziel beca painfully obvious. A bow as tall as a person was a massive hindrance in close-quarters combat. Even though the Angel was made of an incredibly tough material, it couldn't be used to deal effective damage like a sword, and its awkward shape made it terrible as a defensive shield.
So, Yutsuki's only option was to dodge.
Slash! Slash! Slash! The highly destructive beam swords swung at her relentlessly. A series of high-speed, coordinated strikes drastically limited Yutsuki's evasion space. A few tis, she narrowly avoided being clipped by the blades.
Yutsuki frowned. It wasn't that she was out of options. On the contrary, she had too many ways to win. She could unleash a massive surge of raw electricity or manipulate nearby iron sand to crush them instantly. What was frustrating her was the enemy's fighting style.
They abandoned all defense and committed entirely to offense. It was like assassins in wuxia novels who only focused on attacking, willing to trade their own lives just to land a hit.
In a clash like this, she could only injure them, but they were aiming to kill her.
This suicidal attack pattern effectively shortened the gap created by Yutsuki's superior physical stats. But the mont their attacks failed, their lives would be entirely in her hands.
Just like earlier ,if Yutsuki had wanted to, they would have died a hundred tis over by now.
After multiple clashes, even though the faces of her attackers changed, Yutsuki had co to understand the AST's pattern.
Despite being utterly rciless in their goal to annihilate Spirits, they possessed extrely high discipline and military cohesion. A team like this wouldn't normally order its mbers to go on what were essentially suicide missions.
In other words...
Have they figured it out? Yutsuki smiled bitterly in her mind.
Ryougi Yutsuki... didn't dare to kill. She didn't want to kill. More accurately, she couldn't bring herself to kill.
As an otaku born in an era of peace, the most ng had ever done was learn a bit of martial arts for self-defense and exercise. Killing was a concept too far removed from his previous life.
Moreover, having experienced death once, she understood the absolute preciousness of being alive. If possible, she never wanted to inflict that feeling on soone else.
And the most crucial point of all: the enemy was fighting for justice.
Yutsuki had no control over the anomalies of her body. Whenever that sickening sense of imbalance hit, her body was forcibly dragged out of this world. And whenever she returned to the physical world, she was always greeted by a massive, fresh crater.
She couldn't control the phenonon, nor could she choose where she appeared. Yutsuki felt like a loose missile; a single misstep would cause massive destruction to the ground below.
She was the 'Evil' harming humanity. Protecting humanity, protecting their hos, protecting their loved ones... her enemies had completely justified reasons for their actions. Yutsuki, on the other hand, had no reason to act other than basic self-preservation.
The AST's offensive grew fiercer. Seemingly confirming that Ryougi Yutsuki wouldn't deal a lethal blow, their movents beca increasingly reckless.
Hiss! A slash grazed Yutsuki's arm. The collision between her black trench coat Astral Dress and the laser blade sent sharp sparks flying.
This is bad, Yutsuki thought. If this kept up, the enemy's montum would only grow. If she dragged this out too long, the squad she had paralyzed earlier would recover and rejoin the fray, which would be disastrous for her.
Kicking the ground hard, Yutsuki kicked up a massive cloud of dust, blinding her opponents. With their vision obscured, the AST hesitated to move recklessly.
When the smoke finally cleared, the AST squad looked around, but there was no sign of the Spirit anywhere.
"What's the status on Thor's reaction?"
"Spacequake readings have stabilized. Confirming target is lost.
Hearing the report, the AST breathed a collective sigh of relief. After quickly reorganizing the squad, the Captain ordered a retreat.
"...They're finally gone."
Hiding in a corner of the ruins, Yutsuki's figure gradually materialized. Her pretty face visibly relaxed as she let out a long breath.
"Seriously... what am I supposed to do now?"
The enemy had already grasped her weakness. In the inevitable clashes to co, if she didn't figure out an effective counterasure, she was going to be in deep trouble.
And her biggest problem right now was that she had zero intel.
Because of her distaste for harem ani, she had absolutely no idea about the plot, the direction of the story, or even the basic power system of this world. If that idiot god hadn't misunderstood her, she would never have chosen to co here in the first place.
Yutsuki wasn't stupid. On the contrary, being able to accurately assess her situation based solely on the events she had encountered proved that she was highly analytical and rational.
But a single person's power is limited. The ans for a Spirit to gather information were practically nonexistent. Even if she could maximize the use of her intel, if the amount of intel itself was pitifully small, rational analysis was out of the question.
"Ugh, that annoying feeling is back." The subtle sense of imbalance returned. Based on experience, she had about five seconds before she "disappeared" again.
Just then, her eyes accidentally swept across a ruined storefront. Noticing sothing inside, Yutsuki's eyes lit up with an unprecedented brilliance.
"A TABLET COMPUTERRRRRRRRRRRRR!"
Literally a split second before she vanished, Yutsuki lunged for it like a hungry wolf.
Original author's Note (PS): I did so research, and it seems every Spirit's Angel and Astral Dress corresponds to the ten Sephirot on the Kabbalah Tree of Life. The Angel corresponding to the Second Sephira(Hokhmah) is Raziel, which Tachibana (the author of Date A Live) basically references for character designs. However, the specific nas of the weapons seem to be made up by the author(rasiel), so I decided to try my hand at naming it myself(ratziel).
