Now reading: Chapter 589 589: Preemptive Strike (Part 2) from Date a Live:This is not the date I wanted!, a Action novel by brawslayer.

A blaring alarm echoed through the base. At the airship departure area, thick black smoke slowly rose, staining the clear blue sky.

The ground rumbled. A gigantic steel ship collapsed like a migratory bird with broken wings. Amid the swaying flas, a girl in a black coat walked out. Like a demon erging from hell, she made everyone present feel an icy chill.

[Warning! Warning! Fire detected in Base Area B departure zone! Spirit intrusion detected. Identified codena—Hacker! Nearby wizards, proceed to the scene at once and subjugate. Repeating—]

"The response is pretty quick."

Hearing the warning resound through the base, Yutsuki placed both hands into the pockets of her coat and chuckled.

With her ability, she could have completely invaded the base's broadcast system and stopped the warning from going out. However, she had no intention of doing that.

Rather, she wished that every wizard in this base would clearly know she had invaded.

"They're here."

After barely a few seconds, Yutsuki saw several teams of wizards equipped with CR-Units flying out from the airship she had just damaged, weapons in hand as they moved to encircle her.

(Twenty-eight wizards at eight o'clock, twenty at two o'clock, thirty each at eleven and five o'clock, and two snipers five hundred ters out at six o'clock…)

While deploying a spirit energy shield to block the dense magical bullets, Yutsuki used electromagnetic waves to probe the enemy distribution around her.

Because of the influence of Yutsuki's ability, the drones's automatic interception system did not react. Considering manual control would take ti, they probably would not be deployed from the hangars for now.

(Artemisia isn't in the base. Ai Mulian, Westcott, and Ellen… Looks like it'll still take a little while before they arrive.)

These wizards's objective was probably to delay her here until Ellen and the others arrived to surround and eliminate her.

Realizing this, Yutsuki did not hesitate. She charged forward through the wizards's barrage, preparing to break through their encirclent.

"—!?"

Seeing Yutsuki approaching them, the wizard in front of her changed expression, but quickly reacted, switching to a light blade to et her.

(Tch, pretty calm, huh.)

Seeing the other party respond so quickly, Yutsuki could not help feeling a little disappointed. Judging from the reactions of the wizards she had just knocked down, she had thought she still held at least so deterrent power in the eyes of wizards.

"No choice. Lie down for !"

Dodging the wizard's attack, Yutsuki gathered power into her hand, punched through the protective Territory, and released an electric shock into the wizard.

Soon, the wizard lost consciousness after twitching violently.

However, before Yutsuki could even relax, the sky was once again filled with shells rushing toward her.

(Hey, hey, you don't even spare your own allies?)

The corner of her mouth twitched slightly. Left with no choice, Yutsuki casually threw the wizard outside the attack range, then firmly blocked the incoming strike.

When the barrage paused, Yutsuki saw three wizards draw their blades and rush at her.

(These people…)

With her future calculation ability, it was not difficult for Yutsuki to deal with attacks of this level. But seeing the wizards's way of fighting still made her furrow her brows.

They used too much force—or rather, they fought without regard for their own lives. They had completely abandoned defense and concentrated all their power into offense. As a result, after each attack, they left enormous openings before Yutsuki.

Without exaggeration, if Yutsuki genuinely intended to kill them, these wizards would have died countless tis already.

Clearly, Westcott had used Beelzebub to eavesdrop on Yutsuki's strategy eting, learned that they did not intend to kill, and thus dared to order his subordinates to carry out this near suicidal behavior without hesitation.

(No, even without that factor, these wizards would probably do the sa thing.)

While dodging the wizards's attacks, Yutsuki observed their expressions. Every one of their eyes was filled with an almost sick excitent and fanaticism. Rather than wizards, they were more like zealots brainwashed by so cult.

(As expected of DEM wizards. Good thing I ca alone.)

Facing their aggressive montum, Yutsuki was not frightened. Toward the current situation, what she felt in her heart was not disgust or fear, but rather an inexplicable nostalgia.

(It's almost like going back to when I first ca to this world.)

Yutsuki could not help thinking. She rembered that when she had first crossed into this world, because the wizards noticed that she did not intend to kill, the wizards who greeted her had always used this near suicidal style of attack. It was only after she grasped how to break down Realizers that this phenonon sowhat subsided.

However, ever since Westcott used Nia's power to invent the Vaccine box, which targeted her hacking ability, she could no longer break down wizard equipnt as easily as before.

(Well… even if I've gotten weaker, that doesn't an you've gotten stronger than .) (TL:hmmm....this was so accelerator's line right?)

Turning the spirit energy within her body into an instant shockwave, she blew away the wizards who were entangling her. Yutsuki created so distance, invaded the base's broadcast system, and laughed loudly in mockery.

[Hahahaha—Weak! You're all so damn weak! Is this all DEM wizards amount to?! You can't even touch my pinky finger—boring! Westcott, I'm coming to take your dog life next, so wash your neck clean and wait for !]

Hearing Yutsuki declare that she was going to take their boss's life, the wizards imdiately fell into a wave of anger and panic.

"You're getting cocky too early, Hacker!"

"We won't let you approach the Director!"

However, before the wizards could launch another attack, another group finally could not endure Yutsuki's provocation and appeared first.

—Tch, what a bunch of useless trash.

—I really don't understand why Father gathered so many burdens.

—Clearly, having us is enough.

—What a pity, Hacker-oneesan. We originally wanted to have a nice chat with you…

—Bad people who want to harm Father all have to disappear.

A chorus of mischievous, childish laughter suddenly rang out. At so point, more than ten girls in black nun outfit had appeared around Yutsuki, floating in midair like ghosts.

Nibelcole—pseudo Spirits Westcott had created using the power of Beelzebub.

At the sa ti, countless paper planes ford from spirit energy flew in from all directions without rcy.

Although they looked like light folded paper, their power far surpassed an ordinary wizard's magical bullets. With only her limited Astral Dress's spirit energy shield, tanking them head-on was clearly sowhat beyond her ability.

However, facing the sudden increase in enemies, Yutsuki, for so reason, smiled. It was a joyful and excited expression, as though she had encountered prey she had been waiting for.

In fact, this was also the luckiest of several scenarios she had predicted.

"Ratziel."

[Confird.]

In an instant, violent thunder erupted like exploding fireworks from Ryougi Yutsuki's body. The bursting lightning stretched out its fangs like a greedy python, destroying all the folded paper planes that rushed in.

"W-What's going on?"

Seeing half of her kind suddenly vanish, Nibelcole failed to grasp the situation and froze in place.

But in the next second, Yutsuki's hand pierced clean through her chest at close range. Then Nibelcole dissolved into a page, which Yutsuki gripped in her palm.

"Sorry, but for you, I don't have any reason to hold back. That face of yours is the only thing that makes feel just a little guilty about doing this."

Looking at the page in her hand, which emitted a dim black glow, Yutsuki murmured coldly.

"Ratziel, analyze."

[Confird. Demon King fra—analysis complete. Spirit energy wavelength—analysis complete. Interference source information structure acquired—decoding complete.]

Hearing the electronic voice ring in her mind, Yutsuki raised her head, swept her eyes over the wizards warily watching her, and curled her lips into a sly smile.

"Well, this is only about fifty ters from the ground. With Realizers protecting you, at most you'll break a few bones if you fall."

As she spoke, Yutsuki took a tablet out from inside her coat in front of everyone.

Most wizards were confused by this action, but a small number of them looked as if they had seen a flood or wild beast and shouted desperately.

"Hurry and descend! Don't stay here!"

"Realizers~ Release."

Without giving the wizards a chance to escape, Yutsuki snapped her fingers lightly like a smiling Grim Reaper.

In an instant, the Territories surrounding the wizards suddenly vanished. In their place ca the natural gravity that dragged them down toward the earth.

Survive. They had to find a way to survive. Looking at the concrete ground gradually approaching, the wizards desperately tried to activate their Realizers, but the armor on their bodies was completely locked down, offering no response whatsoever.

They were going to die. Realizing this, the wizards closed their eyes together and prepared to et death. However, just as they were about to hit the ground, their bodies suddenly stopped in midair.

But before the wizards could relax, they felt their bodies uncontrollably bounce back upward, swaying left and right in midair like puppets on strings, completely at soone else's rcy.

A sense of defeat, and endless humiliation. In the eyes of the wizards, this Spirit before them was undoubtedly an utterly cruel devil.

(Sigh. Looks like it's about ti to stop.)

Sensing the powerful magical power suddenly erupt in the distance, Yutsuki manipulated electromagnetic force and placed both Realizers and wizards on the ground together.

"Mukuro, prepare to use Michael and open a door."

[Muku gets it.]

(Lastly… I'll leave you a gift, Ellen, Westcott.)

Yutsuki calculated the timing while deliberately shouting loudly.

"Listen well, DEM wizards. I—Hacker—hereby declare war on DEM on behalf of all Spirits! From now on, we will spare no effort and use every ans available to completely destroy DEM!" (TL:WARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR)

As if responding to Yutsuki's declaration, the warning siren announcing an incoming spacequake echoed throughout all of Tengu City.
