Here lies a battlefield filled with gunpowder and fire.
Under the moonlight, between the tall buildings, the sounds of gunfights, crashes, and explosions echoed constantly, as if it were just an everyday occurrence.
Countless Kurumi danced in the air, continuously clashing head-on with the Bandersnatch drones produced by DEM.
The Realizer fields generated on the drones seed practically useless. The black figures easily broke through the sturdy armor, firing bullets right into the cores installed in their heads.
Like a black nightmare, DEM's wizards—seeming to want to reject and resist it—stood behind the drones and poured millions of bullets like rain toward the seemingly endless shadows with all their might.
However, making everyone's eyes widen, a gale completely defying the laws of nature... no, it should be called a hurricane, suddenly surged from all directions. The magic infused bullets were as powerless as feathers in this wind. The unstable air currents caused the originally deadly bullets to completely lose their aim, shooting toward empty buildings instead.
"Haha, this level is completely lacking against us Children of the Typhoons. You wizards, can't you make this a bit more fun for ~"
"Declaration of war. If we're picking opponents, Yuzuru is willing to play along."
Looking up into the sky, two girls looking like twins—each with a single wing on their back, holding a whip and a lance respectively, and wearing maid outfits—looked at the wizards with provocative eyes and spoke.
"Berserk?! Damn it, wasn't Nightmare the only Spirit that broke into DEM?"
Among the DEM troops, a man who seed to be a captain recognized the Yamai sisters, and an expression of extre anxiety appeared on his face.
"Attention! New targets discovered: Berserk. Priority elimination targets changed. While the Bandersnatches are busy with Nightmare, let's take down Berserk together!"
Following the order, the wizards opened their Realizer fields. Using the thrust from their chanical jets, they flew high into the sky and launched a surprise attack on the Yamai sisters.
However, a pillar of white light suddenly swept across from a point on the ground. Because the attack was too sudden, most of the wizards didn't have ti to react. In just a brief mont, nearly a third of the wizards were hit by the light pillar. Their Realizer fields were frozen into heavy ice balls, causing the wizards to fall to the ground one by one.
"My, my~ Everyone~ If you forget about Yoshino and Yoshinon, Yoshinon will be very troubled~"
"Everyone from the wizards... please stop..."
I don't know when, but the large rabbit puppet breathing cold air, Yoshinon, along with Yoshino—who was sitting on it with big eyes full of trouble—glared at the wizards and spoke slowly.
"C-Captain! It's Hermit!"
"Damn it, four Spirits? Are you kidding !"
The wizard captain's mood right now was as disgusted as if he had eaten crap. Any single one of the Spirits here would require a large number of wizards grouping up and giving it their all to even have a chance of driving them away. Yet now, his group of wizards was experiencing being surrounded and attacked by Spirits. If possible, he really wished this was just a dream.
"Everyone, attention! Hermit's cold air also freezes Realizer fields. Shrink your Realizer fields tight against your skin, and try to stay spread out—"
"Hacking started. Realizer field interference broken. ID access gained..."
However, just as the wizard captain was trying with all his might to keep the situation under control, a voice sounding like a ghost ringing from behind him made him feel like he had fallen into an ice cave.
"CR-Unit connection terminated..."
Under Yutsuki's heartless announcent, the wizards who were still thinking of putting up a hard fight fell straight toward the ground like birds with broken wings.
"Hacker..."
As if trying to confirm this fact, the wizard captain widened his eyes, staring fixedly into the air at the girl wearing a black trench coat.
Even facing four Spirits—Kurumi, the Yamais, and Yoshino—this wizard had never thought about retreating. But the mont he saw Yutsuki, he completely lost the will to fight.
If you asked the wizards which Spirit they had fought was the strongest, so would say "Princess," so would say "Berserk," and so might even say "Nightmare." But if you asked which Spirit they least wanted to run into, they would all answer with one voice without a doubt—"Hacker."
If, when facing Tohka and the others, the wizards were facing their raw power. Then when encountering Yutsuki, what the wizards had to realize was their own weakness.
Humans could only exert superhuman abilities and fight against Spirits by relying on Realizers to generate magic power and create Realizer fields.
Then, what if there was no Realizer?
The Gatling gun hanging at his waist was already locked up. Although there was still fuel in the jetpack, it wouldn't start at all. The laser sword in his hand, at this point, was nothing more than a useless handle. Even if his brain sent commands, the Realizer acted as if it had crashed, giving no response whatsoever. It felt as if that superhuman, all-powerful ability was just an illusion.
Every wizard who fought Yutsuki would clearly realize one fact—they were nothing but ordinary humans.
So, what happens when an ordinary human falls from a height of almost a hundred ters?
Without a doubt, they would be smashed into at paste.
"—Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
Feeling the mont of death clearly approaching while being completely at the rcy of others. The originally strong-willed teams of wizards all let out pathetic wails.
The grand wizard troops of DEM Industries weren't slashed by Spirits or shot down by guns, but died from falling from high up in the sky. If Ellen knew about this, her face would probably look terrible.
A bitter smile appeared on the wizard captain's face. Thinking about the pain he was about to experience, he silently closed his eyes.
However, right in the instant they were about to hit the ground, the winds that were scattered around gathered at the ground, gently catching the wizards who were originally scheduled to et the King of Hell.
"Ah... they actually lost consciousness. How pathetic!"
Kaguya controlled the wind direction. After gently placing the disard wizards on the ground, she noticed so had already passed out, and the worst ones had even wet themselves. She spoke with a face full of dissatisfaction.
It was very normal. After all, Yutsuki had asked the Yamais to act only in the very last second before they hit the floor. The goal was exactly to make the wizards have the illusion that they were already dead.
Well, she heard there was also a possibility of being scared to death... but no matter what, the ntal strength of DEM's wizards couldn't be that low, right?
"Reminder. This also saves us the trouble of dealing with them."
"My, my! Taking out all the wizards so easily, as expected of Yutsuki-chan. What a sneaky trick~"
"Even if you praise like that, I won't feel happy about it..."
Rolling her eyes at Yoshinon in annoyance, Yutsuki landed on the ground. She checked the wizards' conditions, gave a karate chop to the neck of any wizard who seed to still be conscious, and after finally confirming there was no one playing dead or anything like that, she threw everyone into a warehouse and locked it tight.
"My, my~ As expected of the one called the most dangerous Spirit to humanity, taking out all of DEM's wizards so easily. You're really amazing, Yutsuki-san. I admire you so much! I'm falling for you!"
Kurumi's figure slowly peeked out from the shadows. Even now, Yutsuki felt a bit uneasy about this way of appearing. But Kurumi clearly wouldn't care about that, and spoke with a tone full of admiration.
"Save the fake feelings, Kurumi. I just slightly adjusted the order the Spirits appeared in. That level doesn't even count as strategy."
"Haha, you're being too humble. Not a single person dying, ending a war so easily... Probably only Yutsuki-san could do sothing like that."
Kurumi had seen everything clearly from the side. The Yamai were responsible for drawing the wizards' attention; Yoshino hid in the dark and launched a surprise attack at the perfect mont. And in the instant the troops' hearts wavered, Yutsuki didn't hesitate to completely disarm the enemy and let them experience just how terrifying the sky they usually stayed in really was.
They lost their ability to fight, both physically and ntally.
Kurumi felt a chill from the bottom of her heart towards Yutsuki, who could do this so easily.
"Then what about the locked-up wizards? If you don't mind..."
Looking at the warehouse behind them, Kurumi couldn't help but stick out her tongue and lightly lick her cherry lips, a smile appearing on her face.
"Rejected!"
Before Kurumi could finish, Yutsuki rejected her without hesitation.
"Eh?! What a waste." Kurumi said with a bit of regret. "Anyway, DEM's wizards are basically bad guys with no humanity. What does it matter if you let recycle them as trash to replenish my consud ti?"
"If you dare try it, our deal to find the locked up Spirit is off imdiately."
"Okay, okay! I get it."
Waving her hand to show she understood, Kurumi looked at Yutsuki with a helpless smile on her face.
"You really are an idiot, Yutsuki-san. You're clearly on a battlefield, yet you still hold onto this naive idea of not wanting to kill anyone. Well, since Yutsuki-san has the skills to back up being naive, I won't say much more. What an idiot, exactly like Shido-san."
"You already said it. And twice at that." Yutsuki stared at Kurumi with her mouth twitching slightly, seemingly a bit unhappy with how Kurumi put it. After breathing out, Yutsuki showed a dark smile.
"Based on their faces while unconscious, this has already beco a psychological trauma. I really wonder if they'll feel very unsafe the next ti they wear a wired suit? Will they be so scared their faces turn pale and they don't dare to move after flying into the sky? Will they throw up non stop just from equipping a Realizer? Oh my, if that really happens, I believe their lives as wizards are over. Why kill them? I think for them, this should be worse than death. Hehehehehe..."
Hearing Yutsuki's malicious words, the Yamai and other Spirits couldn't help but feel a chill down their backs.
"Ugh... To think the rescue mission you ordered us on had such a terrifying purpose mixed in. Yutsuki's scariness makes even shiver a bit."
"Rejoice. It's really great that I'm not Yutsuki's enemy."
"Oh wow, Yutsuki-chan, that idea of yours is truly amazing! Yoshino, Yoshino! You have to learn from Yutsuki-chan. You have to know that only bad won can capture Onee-sama and Shido-kun's hearts~"
"...I'll... try my best..."
"My, my, as expected of Yutsuki-san. Great cover-up. You almost made believe it."
The hidden aning was that she didn't believe it. Yutsuki watched the smiling Kurumi with a slightly twitching mouth. Her acting could easily fool people at Tohka and Kaguya's level, but against soone like Kurumi, a murderer who had genuinely killed tens of thousands of people with her own hands, it seed it still wasn't enough.
Being downgraded to the sa level as Shido, it felt really annoying. (Shido: "Hey!")
"...DEM's Second Office Building—Advanced Technology Research Institute. There's a Spirit quarantine area just like the one in the main building. If the Spirit you want to find hasn't been moved yet, it can only be there."
Clearly not wanting to waste more breath on this, Yutsuki decisively used her trump card—changing the subject.
"As expected of Yutsuki-san, your work efficiency is so high~"
Hearing Yutsuki's words, although there was no change on the surface, Yutsuki still felt a bit of excitent leaking from Kurumi.
"It's part of our agreent, after all. I'll go with you."
Yutsuki hadn't forgotten that Kurumi's help wasn't free. As an exchange for helping Shido and herself, she had to accompany her into DEM's company building to find what she was looking for—the existence of the second Spirit to ever appear in the world.
Basically, the DEM wizards who ca out had already been taken care of. Even just Kurumi's clones could easily handle the remaining drones.
Although she was a bit curious about how things were going on Shido's side, considering the factor of conquering Miku, Yutsuki didn't want to run over and be a third wheel unless it was absolutely necessary.
"Yutsuki. It looks like another group of wizards is coming from the front~"
"Excitent. Should we engage?"
Hearing Yuzuru and Kaguya's words, Yutsuki turned her head and squinted into the distance. Indeed, not far away, a team of wizard girls wearing basic combat Realizers was approaching.
However... the ones coming this ti weren't DEM, but AST.
Seeing the leader—the twenty seven year old big sister who constantly complained about all sorts of dissatisfaction with her life when fighting her before—a drop of sweat appeared on Yutsuki's forehead, and she said with a wry smile: "Well... I wouldn't call them enemies. Let's just put on a show to deal with them, and find a chance to slip away."
Then, ignoring the Yamai sisters' unhappy protests, Yutsuki and Kurumi went off to find the whereabouts of the locked-up Spirit.
