When a personality collapses, there are always things that cannot be forgotten. Even if the mind shatters completely and the entire personality splinters into thousands of pieces, there are traits still deeply rooted in the soul that no knife or axe can break, that no storm can shift.

For the human race, greed is an unshakeable instinct, a trait deeply ingrained in the soul from infancy.

For Schiller, the arrogance that cos with his inherent superb wisdom and powerful abilities is an indelible trait, the basis of his personality.

And of the two, fully-fledged arrogance - the most potent part of this towering whole because of the unique quality greed has of grasping all that can be gained - is undoubtedly the strongest.

Just half of this arrogance nearly healed Batman, and that in only a few years. This, in the fields of psychiatry and psychology, can truly be considered a miracle.

Now, arrogance is about to beco whole. If it refuses to surface to conscious awareness, holding back greed from rising too, none of the other personalities can contend with them both. If so, Schiller's body will forever lie unconscious. This is not what the Superego wants to see.

So, the Superego sighed, turned, and walked to the elevator, saying as it left, "In that case, I'll show you."

The two ascended the elevator in silence. Then, the elevator descended and stopped on one of the floors. Schiller looked up to see a plate reading "Insane Asylum."

"That little guy may be fierce, but he makes a decent bodyguard. Even if you tried to break in, it'd still cause a disturbance." The Superego was referring to Moonlight Schiller, and DC Schiller naturally knew. It seems the power the Superego referred to must lie deep within the insane asylum.

Indeed, the Superego led DC Schiller deeper into the asylum. Moonlight Schiller only poked his head out from his ward to take a look. Seeing the Superego's figure, he made no move to stop him and retreated once again.

At the deepest part of the Insane Asylum, there was a door chained shut. In the center of the door, there was a uniquely shaped keyhole. The Superego took out an object and pressed it into the hole. Arrogant Schiller didn't get a clear look, only noticed that it didn't seem like a regular key, but a thin piece of tal.

The chains were removed, the door opened, and the scene within left DC Schiller wide-eyed.

The room was small, with only a bed, a table, and a chair. The bed was directly across from the door, and on the bed lay another him.

What left DC Schiller speechless and sent chills down his spine was the fact that this other him on the bed had been gutted, his abdon sliced open, missing an entire arm and half a leg, an eye gone, his remains looking like a victim on an illicit experintal table.

Just as DC Schiller instinctively stepped into the room, the door behind him closed with a "bang". The Superego, standing by the experintal table, smirked.

DC Schiller squinted his eyes, his gaze focused on him, but soon, the Superego burst into a bright smile, saying, "It seems my acting skills are good; it scared you, didn't it?"

After speaking, he turned around, pointed to a chair behind the table and said, "Sit. Now, we can talk about the truth you've been seeking."

Arrogant Schiller's muscles tensed, his fingertips still trembling. He looked at the shattered body of Schiller on the bed and asked, "Who... Who is he?"

The Superego chuckled, retrieved a tray and cutlery from beneath the table, set them on top, and then said, "You should find him familiar because you were the first to know him."

You can call him 'Schiller', of course, we're all Schiller, but he used to have another na..."

The Superego paused for a mont, while DC Schiller stared intensely at him. The Superego let out a smile, looking at him as he said,

"We call him— 'System.'"
