A proverb often used to describe short-sighted people is "sacrificing principle for profit." The phrase "sacrificing principle for profit" carries a distinct derogatory implication.
But the fact is, the majority of the human race is easily swayed by small benefits. Essentially, when they find most things in their environnt amiable, they instinctively let their guard down. All actions ant to please others essentially aim to create such an environnt, or at least form an illusion of it.
Assuring people they're safe is the first step to winning their hearts; coddling them cos second; letting them feel understood is the third. This is often the strategy manipulative individuals use to create a safe environnt.
People often find it strange that there are so many fools who fail to see the true colors of so unworthy n and won, even thinking they have their best interests at heart. But it's not stupidity that leads to their deception, but an incapability to resist such constant, concerted pleas for approval.
Even if they fail once, or ten tis, they could try it a hundred or a thousand tis, until they finally succeed in warming up to you, no matter how much harm is done afterward, the victims will always recall this previously unfamiliar, secure, warm, and pleasant environnt, even justifying the sudden changes in the other party's behavior.
In reality, there's no sudden change. The initial kindness serves solely in establishing a safe environnt. No one can say they won't ever fall for such persuasions.
The mont Shiller stepped into the breakfast hall, he knew that Ultimate Iron Man intended to do more than charm the crowd, he was looking to stir the pot.
Indeed, his high spirits didn't leave much room for self-reflection on any potential slip-ups in his speech from the day before. Instead, he intended to push further to lay a solid foundation.
Shiller went over and shook hands with an alien who bore a striking resemblance to a human. He recognized him as the superintendent of the logistics sector responsible for the Star Area's trade of the Royal Business Association of Shi'ar Empire, a person of great importance.
Ultimate Iron Man walked over with a smile, patting Shiller on the arm, saying, "I t Mrs. Nashi at the ball last night. I wanted to introduce her to you, but turns out she already heard about you from a royal."
Shiller offered a few modest words before the three of them exchanged pleasantries and backgrounds on the spot. They then headed to a nearby table to talk business over breakfast.
Shiller discussed the current situation in the Star Area with Mrs. Nashi. When the timing was right, Ultimate Iron Man chid in, "To be frank, madam, Dr. Shiller has been staying here for so long because he's run into so trouble..."
After Ultimate Iron Man briefly explained Shiller's situation, Mrs. Nashi didn't push it off with a polite smile like most other aliens. Instead, she asked earnestly, "Are you sure he was taken away by a flying saucer?"
This was rely Shiller's fabricated backstory, drawing from the popular human concept of alien UFOs. But judging by Mrs. Nashi's reaction, it seed that she considered it plausible.
Mrs. Nashi shook her head, stating, "It seems quite complicated. I've heard of such craft but I can't confirm if that's what it was. The best I can do is tell you that there's a tavern nad Red Feather Flower in the spiral capital of Centaurus where you might get better information."
Shiller instantly expressed his gratitude. After exchanging pleasantries for a while more, looking at Ultimate Iron Man's expression, Shiller knew it was the right ti to leave.
Upon Mrs. Nashi's departure, Shiller rushed to his room. Ultimate Iron Man didn't catch up with him and as he watched Shiller leave, his face darkened.
Not long after, Ultimate Iron Man arrived at Shiller's room, only to find him packing. Upon seeing him, Shiller said while continuing to pack, "I can't thank you enough. This is by far the most helpful lead I've gotten recently."
"They say opportunities are fleeting, so I must hurry. I won't forget your kindness, but I'd better give you my thanks in detail when I return," said Shiller gratefully.
But Ultimate Iron Man wasn't seeking gratitude.
He knew his cajolery had worked rather well, but it hadn't produced the result he wanted. Shiller's focus wasn't on his support and friendship; his sole goal was to find his brother.
This was not good news. Ultimate Iron Man knew well the saying 'blood is thicker than water.' If Shiller and his brother shared a close bond and they reunited after being apart for so long, no attempts on his part could wedge between them.
One can only emotionally depend on one person at a ti, not more. If he were to gain the powerful abilities of the brothers, he must find a way to beco the sole emotional support for each, rather than allowing them to depend on each other.
Hence, Ultimate Iron Man spoke up, "Congratulations, Dr. Shiller. But are you really intending to depart for Centaurus right away?"
Shiller looked up in confusion, to which Ultimate Iron Man cleared his throat and said, "It's great to have a lead. However, judging from Mrs. Nashi's vague responses, you must suspect that whoever kidnapped your brother is a formidable enemy. Are you sure you can save him?"
