But on second thought, Loki felt that this thing might not be without advantage. A whole bunch of demons and ghosts on Earth, while not very safe for Asgard, are even more dangerous for outsiders.
The division of interstellar civilizations’ forces is actually quite simple. The most advanced civilization in a region is the Lord. For example, the Shi’ar Empire is the Lord of its region, and all other civilizations of a lower level are subjects. How this region develops, and other big matters, are decided by the Lord, but local affairs are generally decided by small groups of subjects. This structure is quite similar to the Nine Major Kingdoms.
The direction in which the Nine Major Kingdoms should go is decided by Asgard. But Midgard, which is basically Earth, calls the shots, and places like Vanaheim are similar. This can be understood as a more primitive version of the enfeoffnt system.
Within the enfeoffnt system, when the Zhou Emperor is in trouble, the vassals are supposed to co to support him. You never hear of the Zhou Emperor being attacked, yet he has to send troops to protect the vassals. Asgard can do this because they are strong enough, while the vassals are too weak. Not protecting their own allies makes them more susceptible to being picked off one by one, weakening their strength.
But now, haven’t these vassals already co? Although the vassals entering the capital to protect the emperor pose a certain threat to him, in the face of great enemies, the relief they provide is greater than the threat. Resolving external threats is key, and how to have the vassals leave can be dealt with later.
Why is it better for Earth to co with only people? Because Earth is much more fragile than those demons and ghosts on it. If only The Avengers or Mutants co, it’s a bit unreasonable to say that people sent by the Three Great Empires threaten them. To claim that certain words and actions of the diplomatic envoys of the Three Great Empires threatened Magneto’s personal safety would be sowhat like feigning injury.
But if we say that their battleships co too close to Earth, threatening Earth’s safety, that’s perfectly reasonable. There are billions of ordinary people on Earth who would shatter at a touch. Not to ntion your battleships coming close; the mont you entered the Asgardian dinsion, you already posed a threat to Earth’s safety. Who knows if the electromagnetic radiation from your battleships might affect the lifespan of our fragile ordinary people?
If one were to say, "So fragile, then don’t co," it could also be rightfully countered: "We just developed a planet-level Superluminal Engine, coming to have a close encounter with our dear brothers. How can an outsider have any say?"
Loki and Thor quickly understood this point and imdiately broke into bright smiles. Thor stepped forward to hug Captain Arica, then said, "Welco, my brothers. I never thought your technological progress would be so swift; this is indeed a great cause for celebration. Although the Fairy Palace has already prepared a sumptuous banquet for tonight, it’s just a reception dinner for you. I think Asgard and Earth should host a grand celebration to commorate the formal eting of our civilizations. What do you think?"
"Certainly." Steve smiled and said, "For the vast majority of people in our two civilizations, this is their first ti seeing each other with their own eyes, truly a significant milestone in the exchange between civilizations. We should send delegations to each other’s celebration. What do you think?"
"That sounds excellent." Thor’s smile deepened, "Such a celebratory event shouldn’t just be known between us. I think we ought to send out invitations across the cosmos to witness this grand occasion. Loki, write the invitations as soon as tonight’s banquet ends, aim to send them out by tomorrow morning. Tell them to arrive by tomorrow night, as the celebration will begin the morning after."
Loki bowed and said, "As you wish, Your Majesty the God King."
Then the three followed Thor back to the Fairy Palace. The Fairy Palace indeed had a banquet ready, but it was just an ordinary reception, with everyone sitting around the table, eating at, drinking, chatting. Since Thor had to prepare for the celebration, Loki hosted. Both sides ate and drank their fill, then returned ho, readying for more important matters.
As for how the Asgardians viewed the suddenly appearing planet above their heads, one can only say that these mbers of the God Clan are indeed rather oblivious. They felt nothing was amiss, rather they were delighted, thinking they finally had a satellite.
The Asgard in Shiller’s cosmos isn’t a planet; it could be called a celestial body, but it’s not spherical; it’s a series of Sky Islands connected by Divine Power. Asgard is the na of this dinsion, with the Fairy Palace being the largest Sky Island. Such celestial bodies can’t be said to be unique in the cosmos, but they are extrely rare, only extrely advanced civilizations would make their ho like this. Asgardians have battled across the cosmos for so long and know their holand’s situation is unlike others, where a spherical celestial body is more common.
Though they love their holand dearly, they sotis envy those civilizations with spherical celestial bodies, mainly for their envy of satellites around them. How beautiful those little spheres orbiting their own planets are. But due to the unique structure of Sky Islands, a satellite couldn’t naturally form even over millennia.
