Although Wang Yuyang hadn’t formally introduced himself, Lin Yu and most who had watched him fight could already guess the Designer’s general ability. "Create from nothing" — projecting corresponding items from whatever he conceived in his mind. As for limits, the structure and construction of the item had to be pletely reasonable, and the Designer had to fully form it in his head. So the most important and necessary qualities for this class were thinking speed and imagination. And without a doubt… the Inspiration Mushroom Wang Yuyang had just taken was a powerful item that greatly boosted both.
Almost instantly, Lin Yu saw dazzling colors erupt behind Wang Yuyang’s head. One after another, phantasmal images of bizarre ideas floated up from the back of his skull. A winged hippo, two arguing tomatoes, a bicycle made of wood, a Möbius-strip-like wool scarf… a parade of inprehensible concepts flashed into view, inspiring curiosity as well as amusement. “What on earth are these things good for?” Lin Yu couldn’t help asking.
But Wang Yuyang didn’t answer. While the Inspiration Mushroom significantly enhanced his imagination and thought speed, it seemed to also bring certain side effects. The next moment, a bright yellow lightsaber materialized in Wang Yuyang’s hands. Lin Yu recognized its form at once. “So he’s pletely freeing his mind, then selecting from those wild ideas the projections that are useful for bat?” The lightsaber’s precision and plexity were no less than Wang Yuyang’s armor, yet it had been projected in an instant. The projection speed was even faster than that earlier crude long blade! No doubt, this was the Inspiration Mushroom’s effect.
Lin Yu tightened his twin blades. Bam! The next instant, Wang Yuyang and Lin Yu crashed into each other again. Clad in full armor, Wang Yuyang hammered his lightsaber down viciously; this was his first time taking the initiative and seizing the advantage. With the red-scaled armor augmenting him, his explosive power finally matched Lin Yu’s! At the same time, the Inspiration Mushroom had raised his reaction speed along with his thinking speed. Still… his speed hadn't outright surpassed Lin Yu’s. The two were simply back to being evenly matched. So when Wang Yuyang struck down, Lin Yu crossed his twin blades to brace and block the lightsaber. The two locked once more.
Hum—hum— The lightsaber trembled faintly, fine cracks appearing across Lin Yu’s twin blades. Lin Yu couldn’t help being surprised. “This weapon is seriously brutal!” Luckily he had applied the Everflowing Copper Liquid; since it’s a fluid that adheres, even if it fractured, it would repair itself. Otherwise, the one at risk would have been his Long Blade Tusk Bone Dual Swords themselves. The Everflowing Copper Liquid kept repairing, the cracks surfacing and then disappearing.
Wang Yuyang seemed to realize his strike had little effect; steam burst again from the seams of his scales with a sizzle. His thrust intensified, and his whole body erupted with force, pushing Lin Yu and forcing him to move slowly. Lin Yu only glanced back and immediately understood Wang Yuyang’s intention. “He wants to shove me into the tornado?” Right now, the direction Wang Yuyang was pushing them was straight toward the largest tornado on the field.
“Trying to use the wind to make me lose my balance… exactly what I want!” Lin Yu called out loudly, then suddenly let his legs go slack. Not prepared for it, Wang Yuyang instantly carried Lin Yu forward with a fierce burst, shooting them both to within barely ten meters of the tornado! Wang Yuyang’s eyes were sharp; he didn’t stop, he pushed even harder! The lightsaber that had been blocked dissipated, and Wang Yuyang stepped up close to Lin Yu, conjuring another strange weapon.
Clack! A pair of rings appeared in Wang Yuyang’s hands, locking onto Lin Yu’s wrists. The rings seemed to have powerful magnetic attraction, clinging firmly to Wang Yuyang’s armored hands while also generating a strong mutual magnetism — once locked, they were like shackles, utterly impossible to rip free from! Whoosh! In a single breath, the two were already pressed against the edge of the tornado.
At that instant, the metallic rubbing of Wang Yuyang’s scales rang out again, the plates grinding and meshing as he twisted his waist to exert force. At the apex of his effort, the rings’ magnetism vanished for a heartbeat. In that split second, as if throwing a discus or spear, Wang Yuyang spun Lin Yu and flung him into the air! The already-riotous winds, which were about to hurl both of them skyward, easily swallowed Lin Yu once he’d been thrown aloft.
Watching Lin Yu lose balance and be spun along the tornado’s rim before being consumed, Wang Yuyang didn’t slacken. He projected a dense swarm of mechanical bees again. The black mass of bees flew into the tornado as one. This was Wang Yuyang’s true killing move — the moment he consumed the Inspiration Mushroom, he had sifted through the torrent of ideas pouring out of his mind and chosen the best plan: suppress, restrain, push into the hurricane… and finally, while the opponent was unbalanced and suspended, let the self-destructing swarm finish him!
“e on, Director! Let’s see how you turn this around!” The swarm dove into the hurricane. Their special construction made the tiny, lightweight machines seem unaffected by the gale; they darted freely within, searching the sands for Lin Yu’s silhouette. Once they locked on, they would deliver an explosion big enough to blow him out of the arena!
But… Wang Yuyang frowned slightly as he sensed feedback from the swarm. “Wait…” The swarm hadn’t found Lin Yu, and moreover… their numbers were decreasing! It seemed some even smaller, subtler hazard hidden in the hurricane was silently destroying them. Inside the tornado, Lin Yu, though off-balance, showed no panic. Through the storm he used the Mind-Peeping Eyepiece to lock onto Wang Yuyang’s direction, and he blanketed the entire tornado with his spiritual force.
“I knew someone smart like you wouldn’t give up on using these tornadoes on the field…” “You fell for it pretty fast, Designer!”
