“Qin Lun, you’re back!” Dalzollene looked at Qin Lun, who had just pushed the door open, with surprise. “Did you drive back the Troupe?”
“No, we lost!” Qin Lun sighed and brushed the dust off his clothes. “The Mafia’s direct force, the Shadow Beasts, were completely wiped out. If I hadn’t only been responsible for long-range sniper support, I probably wouldn’t have escaped either.”
“The Shadow Beasts were completely wiped out…” A look of fear appeared in Dalzollene’s eyes. Having lost the fighting power of the Shadow Beasts, this normally steady captain of the Nostrade Family’s guard finally began to regret joining the pursuit of the Phantom Troupe.
“Don’t worry, the Ten Dons have prepared a backup plan. They’ve sent requests to several of the world’s major assassination organizations. Another, much stronger assassination team will arrive tomorrow or the day after to take over the Shadow Beasts’ work.” Qin Lun smiled, trying to cheer up Dalzollene.
“Oh!” Hearing this, Dalzollene indeed let out a huge sigh of relief.
This Auction was, after all, a grand event organized by major criminal syndicates worldwide. Even if they didn’t care about the auction items, for the sake of saving face, they would not compromise with the Phantom Troupe.
Furthermore, the underworld organizations possessed imnse wealth. Although they couldn’t recruit top-tier experts as subordinates, there were still so powerful bounty hunters and assassins willing to accept temporary jobs.
“By the way, where is that Troupe mber being held now?” Qin Lun’s eyes flashed as he asked with concern.
“Oh, he was injected with anesthetic gas and is currently locked in the basent!” Dalzollene said worriedly. “He won’t say anything, and his body is very strong. Our interrogation thods aren’t very effective.”
“Let give it a try!” Qin Lun grinned and said with a smile. “I have so personal experience with interrogation and torture.”
“Alright then, please follow !” Dalzollene stood up happily. “I just notified the Ten Dons’ contact person. They said they will send soone right away.”
“You inford others?” Qin Lun narrowed his eyes, feeling a slight chill in his heart. “Did they say when they would arrive?”
“Yes, I just contacted them. They should be here in about an hour!” Dalzollene said carefully. “Of course, I reported your contribution as well. They will bring the reward directly.”
This fool… So the Troupe will find this place within an hour! Fine, although it’s a bit different from the original plan, it’s still within control.
“Qin Lun, is there… a problem with this arrangent?” Dalzollene asked cautiously.
“Oh, no, no problem at all!” Qin Lun snapped out of his thoughts and comforted him with a smile.
Of course there’s a problem! Because I just got back from the Mafia and received a stack of high-level Nen Ability materials as paynt. If the person you contacted was really from the Mafia, how could they not have ntioned this to ?
Qin Lun glanced at the stack of Nen Ability materials in his Storage Space. Looking at Dalzollene’s back, a trace of regret flashed in his eyes.
Dalzollene led Qin Lun to the basent, where they saw Kurapika and the others resting in the small room outside the door, also responsible for guarding Uvogin inside.
“Qin Lun, are you okay!” Seeing Qin Lun, the boy’s face showed genuine joy.
“I’m fine, but the Shadow Beasts were completely wiped out…” Qin Lun said with a grave expression, repeating the news he had just told Dalzollene to the others.
As expected, the total loss of the Shadow Beasts dampened everyone’s spirits sowhat. However, hearing that the Mafia had a backup plan, they all relaxed a little.
“Are you going to interrogate that person?” Kurapika pulled Qin Lun aside and looked at him with so concern.
It was clear that Qin Lun, who had stayed behind alone earlier, had won Kurapika’s trust. At the very least, he now began to regard the young man as a companion.
“What is it, Kurapika?”
“No, nothing. It’s just that that Troupe mber is very dangerous.” Kurapika said anxiously. “His will is very firm. I’m afraid interrogation won’t have much effect on him.”
He’s wavering. Could it be that his hatred for the Troupe isn’t as deep as I imagined? Qin Lun raised an eyebrow, a cold glint inadvertently flashing in his eyes. “Kurapika, can you tell what kind of grudge you have with the Phantom Troupe?”
The boy’s body stiffened. He let go of Qin Lun’s hand, hesitated for a mont, and finally lowered his head, taking out the contact lens from his right eye, revealing an eye with a scarlet pupil.
“I belong to the Kurta Clan. Our tribe lived in seclusion deep in the mountains, away from the world’s conflicts. But because we possess one of the ‘Seven Beauties of the World’—the Scarlet Eye—we attracted the genocide by the Phantom Troupe.”
Kurapika spoke softly, his nails digging deeply into his palms. “I once swore before my clansn’s graves that even if it costs my life, I will capture the Phantom Troupe and take away their freedom, so these scum can never harm the innocent again.”
Just take away the Troupe mbers’ freedom? He is still too kind! Qin Lun slowly let out a breath. He finally understood Kurapika’s inner conflict.
The boy hated the Phantom Troupe’s cruelty, but faced with Uvogin’s strong will, he wavered. Even bearing the deep hatred of his clan, he still yearned for light and rcy, instinctively fearing the dark abyss of revenge.
“Kurapika, look into my eyes!” Qin Lun took a deep breath. His distinct black-and-white eyes began to fill with bloodshot veins, transforming in an instant into a pair of eyes filled with violence and cruelty. An evil so palpable it was almost solid enveloped the boy’s entire body, making him feel cold all over, as if he had fallen into an icy pit.
“You…” Kurapika couldn’t help but take a step back, looking at the completely changed Qin Lun in horror.
Qin Lun turned around, the bloodshot veins in his eyes quickly receding. “Did you see? What did you feel?”
“…” Kurapika looked at Qin Lun warily and remained silent.
“Kurapika, you are too kind! If you continue like this, you won’t be able to capture the Phantom Troupe. In the end, only you yourself will get hurt.”
Qin Lun turned back and looked seriously at the boy. “Every thug from teor Street has a wild beast inside their heart. However, so still retain their humanity, like ! And so have completely abandoned their humanity, like the Phantom Troupe!”
“I’ll give you a piece of advice, Kurapika. Beasts that have completely lost their humanity cannot be restricted by any cage. To save the innocent, you must erase them physically.”
Qin Lun paused and said calmly, “Kurapika, there is no such good thing in the world as getting revenge without staining your hands with blood. If you are not willing to sacrifice yourself, to cover your hands with the blood and hatred of the Phantom Troupe, then it’s not too late to give up your revenge now!”
Kurapika stood rigidly in place, staring blankly at his own hands, a flash of pain in his scarlet eyes.
After speaking, Qin Lun paid no more attention to the boy. He pushed the door open and walked alone into the basent where Uvogin was held.
Qin Lun gently closed the door and surveyed the basent. This was clearly a private torture room specifically used by the Nostrade Family to detain enemies.
The room’s walls were made of thick, large blue stones, covered with a layer of iron sheet on the outside. Various torture instrunts hung in the room, along with so monitoring and electronic equipnt, likely a lie detector, hypnotic gas, and dical devices.
In the center of the room was a wide dical bed, with several iron hoops and collars. Uvogin was firmly restrained on this dical table. The lion-like giant still bore the wounds torn open by Rabid Dog, and there was so blood around his nose and mouth. There were also so minor wounds on other parts of his body.
None of these wounds were very deep; so had barely broken Uvogin’s skin.
Qin Lun walked around the dical table, glancing at the broken torture tools on the floor. It seed just as Dalzollene had said; their interrogation hadn’t caused much harm to Uvogin. This guy had a strong body and was battle-hardened. Even when anesthetized, the Nen inside him still operated instinctively.
“Hey, aren’t you going to ask sothing?” Uvogin asked calmly.
“No need. I’ve seen eyes like yours before. I probably wouldn’t get anything out of you.” Qin Lun leaned against the side of the dical table and said with a smile. “But that’s alright. I’ve already obtained the information I need.”
“Oh, really?” Uvogin said expressionlessly, his tone clearly sarcastic and mocking.
“Of course!” Qin Lun leaned close to Uvogin’s ear and softly said a place na.
“You… How do you know? Is there a traitor among us?” A flash of surprise crossed Uvogin’s eyes, though his face remained impassive, clearly having great confidence in his comrades.
“I’m here to interrogate you, not to answer your questions.” Qin Lun couldn’t help but chuckle softly.
“… Let’s make a deal! Tell the source of your information, and when I break free, I’ll let you go!” Uvogin’s gaze towards Qin Lun gradually turned cold as he spoke expressionlessly.
“Hahaha, I like people like you!” Qin Lun covered his face, trying hard to suppress his laughter and control his excited emotions. “It’s a pity neither of us has much ti. Your comrades will be here soon to rescue you. Otherwise… you would have been such good material for making an Angel!”
“…”
After laughing for a while, Qin Lun sighed. “Forget it, there are still so many people in the Troupe anyway! Tell you what, to show my appreciation for you, I’ll also give you a proposal: one question for one question, how about it?”
“What do you want to know?” Uvogin said flatly.
“Before I ask you, I’ll tell you one piece of information for free: I also co from teor Street!” Qin Lun said with a smile.
“So what?” A ripple of emotion finally flashed in Uvogin’s eyes.
“Nothing much. It’s just that during my earlier reconnaissance, I noticed that the faces of several Troupe mbers looked sowhat familiar. I just wanted to confirm through you if they are my acquaintances!” A cunning, cold glint flashed in Qin Lun’s eyes.
“Tell the nas, birthdates, and blood types of the Troupe mbers who appeared in the Goude Desert. In return, I’ll tell you why I know about your hideout in the Yorknew City suburbs.”
