She had only returned for a couple of days when she found fault with Jinse and slapped her, berating her to the point where she was utterly humiliated.
Jinse understood the feelings of her and her husband, not wanting to put them in a difficult position between herself and them, so she silently endured it.
Lanyu’s behavior intensified; she either hit or scolded Jinse constantly, treating her no better than a servant from ancient tis.
Later on, her son caught her in the act and gave her a severe reprimand, which made her tone it down a bit.
Later, while her son was away on a business trip, she smashed everything in Jinse’s room, throwing Jinse’s blankets and clothes outside the front door.
Jinse packed up her things and didn’t return ho. She called to inform her that she was going on a trip with Mi Sheng.
She knew very well that this wasn’t a trip at all
But rather, Jinse seeking refuge because there was no place for her at ho anymore!
The child one raises is the child one holds dear.
Thinking of Jinse being bullied by Lanyu, her heart ached as if being cut by a knife.
Yet, she felt guilty towards Lanyu, believing it was her fault for letting her younger brother-in-law raise Lanyu, which led to her problematic personality.

"How can you be so unreasonable?" Mi Sheng was indignant, defending Jinse, "Brother Situ likes Jinse and wants to marry her; Jinse is now Brother Situ’s fiancée and has every right to be here!"
"I forbid it!" Lanyu scread in a rage, "My brother can marry anyone he wants, just not Jinse!"
"You’re really ridiculous!" Mi Sheng sneered, "This is the first ti I hear that a brother’s marriage can be decided by his sister! What era is this? We don’t even follow the ancient practice of parental matchmaking and, yet, you think you have the right to approve of your brother’s choice in a wife?"
"This is my family’s business; you don’t get a say!" Lanyu yelled, "This is my house, we do not welco you, Jinse’s lackey, get out!"
"Shut your mouth!" Upon hearing Lanyu insult Mi Sheng as a lackey, Situ Xu’s expression changed drastically, and he slapped Lanyu hard across the face, "If you can’t speak properly, then shut up, or go back to your room, or get out, pick one!"
He had leveraged Mi Sheng’s connection to invite the Gu family over, in the hopes of paving the way for his son, and to foster good relations, not to make enemies with them.
And now Lanyu dared to insult Fifth Lord of Gu’s nephew’s wife as a lackey, was she asking for death?
Lanyu’s face swung to one side from the slap, her cheek burning with pain.
She was dazed by the blow.
She held her face, looking at Situ Xu in disbelief, "You hit ? What right do you have to hit ? You gave away right after I was born, you never raised , what right do you have to hit ?"
Ever since she ca back to this house, whenever she brought up the matter of Situ Xu giving her away, Situ Xu and Du Rulan would beco completely submissive to her every demand.
