Chapter 1429: Chapter 1433 Walk Away!

He walked over to the bed, wrapped Ye Xingbei—who was leaning against the headboard browsing her phone—into his arms, and kissed her gently, “Darling, to what do I owe the honor of your visit?”

Ye Xingbei hugged his neck with a cheeky smile, “Didn’t Le Yuzhou already say it? I’m here on an inspection, checking if you’ve been properly slaving away for your wife and kid!”

Gu Junzhu lightly tapped her nose, “So, is Madam satisfied?”

Ye Xingbei smirked with playful arrogance, “h, barely!”

Gu Junzhu tapped her nose again, “Ye Xiaobei, I really have spoiled you rotten…”

Ye Xingbei laughed and pushed him away, “Stop fooling around, let show you sothing…”

Gu Junzhu humd, “What treasure have you got to show now? Can’t wait to impress , huh?”

Ye Xingbei grabbed her phone, opened a video, and handed it over to him, feeling a little proud, “A present for you!”

Gu Junzhu clicked on the video, watched it, and then shook his head with a chuckle, “Only you ladies would enjoy digging up old scores. Us n? We settle grudges on the spot.”

Ye Xingbei made a face, “Since when is yesterday’s stuff considered old scores?”

“True,” Gu Junzhu said, “If Situ Xu hadn’t suddenly collapsed last night, teetering between life and death, I would’ve dealt with Situ Lanyu right on the spot. One night has passed, and I’ve almost forgotten her.”

To him, if Ye Xingbei had been the one hurt yesterday, he would’ve flown into an unstoppable rage. Not just one day later—even ten days, ten months, or ten years later—he would still make sure Situ Lanyu paid for it.

But since it was him who got hurt, he didn’t seem to care as much.

If he had retaliated last night, the matter would’ve been resolved there and then.

Now that a whole night had passed, it was like leftover rice—he didn’t even feel motivated to take revenge anymore.

To him, Situ Lanyu was like so obnoxious pest; she wasn’t worth his energy or attention.

What surprised him, though, was that while he had been busy with work, Ye Xingbei had gone out to seek revenge on his behalf.

Though unexpected, he had to admit—it felt pretty damn good.

“You might forget, but I sure won’t!” Ye Xingbei huffed and tilted her head to look at him, “If I told you I once beat up a kid in their teens to avenge Xiao Shu, would you think less of ?”

“Of course not,” Gu Junzhu chuckled softly, ruffling her hair, “Ye Xiaobei, just two years ago, weren’t you yourself still a teenager?”

She was only twenty-one this year.

How much older was she than a teenage kid?

In his eyes, she was still just a kid even now.

He paused for a mont, raised an eyebrow, and asked, “Who’s the clueless brat that dared bully our Xiao Shumiao?”

“So kid near Brother Lan’s neighborhood,” Ye Xingbei said, “They snatched Xiao Shu’s toy and even hit him, so I gave them a good beating! Gu Junzhu…”

She called his na, wrapped her arms around his neck, and tilted her face up to look at him, “Gu Junzhu, let tell you, even though my abilities may be limited, I’m fiercely protective. If anyone dares to bully the people I care about, I don’t care about reputation or morality—screw all that nonsense! I only care about my loved ones; everything else is just fluff!”

So even if bullying a little kid might earn her scorn, she didn’t hesitate to rough them up.

And despite the potential trouble revenge on Situ Lanyu might bring, she didn’t waver before taking action.

Forget everything else—get even first. If anyone dared cross the people she cared for, they were bound to pay the price.

“Hmm,” Gu Junzhu chuckled deeply, running his fingers across her cheek, “That’s my girl, so much like !”

Ye Xingbei: “…Go away! You’re so cheesy!”

Gu Junzhu laughed, pulled her back into his arms, and looked down at her, “Ye Xiaobei…”

“Hmm?” Ye Xingbei looked up at him, “What is it?”

“If only I’d t you a few years earlier,” Gu Junzhu said, his gaze locked on hers, his fingertips lightly brushing her lashes. He sighed softly, “If I’d known you sooner, I would’ve taken care of you and Xiao Shu, and I’d make sure no one ever hurt either of you!”

Ye Xingbei smiled sweetly, tightened her hold on his neck, “It’s not too late now!”

When soone experiences happiness, all of the hardships of the past beco the proof of their present joy.

No matter how late they t, she felt that knowing Gu Junzhu was the greatest stroke of luck in her life.

“Enough of that!” Gu Junzhu patted her head and took out his phone.

Ye Xingbei leaned closer to look, “What’s up?”

“Nothing,” Gu Junzhu replied, “Just handling Situ Lanyu’s aftermath.”

“Aftermath?” Ye Xingbei raised an eyebrow at him, “Are you worried Situ Lanyu might report us to the police?”

Gu Junzhu humd in acknowledgnt.

“You really underestimate !” Ye Xingbei scoffed, “Don’t you rember saying ‘He who walks with wolves will learn to howl’? I’ve been by your side all this ti—do I still seem like the naïve, clueless girl I used to be? I’ve turned cunning ages ago; handling minor problems like this is a piece of cake!”

“Oh?” Gu Junzhu paused his tapping on the phone, raising his eyes to her, amusent playing on his face, “So how exactly did you handle it, Miss Cunning?”

“Obviously, I got dirt on her!” Ye Xingbei raised her chin with a smug smile, a glint of pride in her expression. “I had soone secretly plant an expensive brooch in her pocket. Then at the hospital, in front of the doctor, I arranged for soone to storm in and pull the brooch out of her pocket. After that, our family’s bodyguards quietly told her that if she dared report us to the police, we’d report her for theft! People like her might act all high and mighty, but deep down she’s as cowardly as a mouse’s whisker. She wouldn’t dare try to ss with us or call the cops!”

Gu Junzhu couldn’t help but laugh, ruffling her hair again, “Ye Xiaobei, I appreciate you sticking up for —I really do. But honestly, your thods are pretty lacking. So, next ti, leave things like this to instead, okay?”
