“Sothing has happened.” Gu Junzhu’s previously gentle and breezy gaze instantly turned sharp. “Xiao Chi.”
“Yes, Young Master!” Gu Chi stepped past him and walked toward the crowd.
Most of the employees in the company recognized Gu Chi and knew he was the top confidant of the big boss. They quickly stepped aside, clearing a path for him.
Gu Chi made his way to the center of the crowd without hindrance.
In the middle of the crowd, several security guards were surrounding three people—two elderly and one younger—trying to talk them down while attempting to usher them outside.
The two elderly and one younger person sobbed and wailed while using the “deadweight” tactic to resist being moved.
When Gu Chi saw the trio, he imdiately felt a headache coming on. “Why are you here again? I already told you, Ah Mo is on a business trip and isn’t in Beijing. Causing a scene won’t help.”
“Assistant Gu!” The trio, upon seeing him, rushed forward as if they had found a savior. “We’re not here for Xiao Mo. Seeing your boss works just as well! We have legitimate reasons, truly, we do. We really need to see him!”
Standing outside the crowd, Ye Xingbei asked Gu Junzhu, “Who are they? They seem rather familiar with Xiao Chi.”
“Yu Mo’s parents and sister.” Gu Junzhu’s lips curved slightly, forming a mocking smile. “A family of scoundrels. Don’t bother with them.”
He wrapped his arm around Ye Xingbei’s waist and began walking toward the exit of the lobby.
Yu Mo’s mother, sharp-eyed, suddenly spotted Gu Junzhu. She shoved past Gu Chi and chased after him. “Young Master Gu! Young Master Gu! Please wait. We really have sothing serious to discuss with you. Please, for Ah Mo’s sake, et with us!”
Gu Junzhu stopped walking, turned back to glance at her, and the curve of his lips grew even colder. “Reception room.”
With a pivot of his foot, he led Ye Xingbei toward the reception room.
The onlooking employees, seeing Gu Junzhu, imdiately began silently moving toward the lobby exit and dispersed like startled birds, leaving the area deserted in no ti.
The absence of spectators left the Yu family trio sowhat regretful.
Their whole purpose for causing a scene here was to leverage public pressure to force Yu Mo into submission.
Now that everyone was gone, what public pressure could they rely on?
Still, getting a chance to et with Yu Mo’s boss wasn’t a bad outco.
After all, their end goal in using public opinion to pressure Yu Mo was to make Yu Mo go plead with Gu Junzhu.
If they could persuade Gu Junzhu here and now, they wouldn’t need to involve Yu Mo at all.
The Yu family trio followed Gu Chi into the reception room.
Gu Junzhu sat at the main seat. Though his posture appeared casual and nonchalant, the oppressive aura he exuded felt like an oncoming storm, leaving the Yu family trio trembling with fear and utterly subdued.
“Sit.” Gu Junzhu casually gestured toward several chairs.
The Yu family trio sat down nervously and uneasily, their faces full of apprehension.
The eldest of the Yu family, Father Yu, looked at Gu Junzhu and spoke earnestly, “Young Master Gu, we’ve truly been pushed to the brink, which is why we’re here to plead with you. I beg you, for the sake of our Xiao Mo, to save our family. If not, we will all surely perish!”
“Oh?” Gu Junzhu raised an eyebrow and looked at him. “And how exactly are you all going to perish?”
“It’s all because of my worthless son-in-law!” Father Yu sighed heavily, casting a glance at his teary and silent daughter before continuing bitterly, “My son-in-law was speculating in real estate down south. But then the market collapsed, and the developers absconded with his money. He owes loans to the bank, and now the bank has frozen all accounts and assets under his na. The bank said if he can’t repay by the end of the month, they’ll seize his assets to settle the debt.”
