Chapter 1446: Chapter 1450: Scared
The old man leads a disciplined life; unless there are official duties, he goes to bed very early every night.
Tonight was no exception.
A little past nine, the old man got up and returned to his room.
Confirming that the old man had already gone to his room and couldn’t possibly overhear their conversation, Gu Junzhu asked Mi Sheng, “Earlier, you said Situ Jinse’s hand was also cut, and it happened when soone accidentally bumped into her?”
“Yes,” Though Mi Sheng didn’t understand why Gu Junzhu was asking, she still explained in detail: “A few days ago, I went out for a stroll with Jinse to relieve our stress. There was soone who hurriedly ran past us from the opposite direction. She seed to be in a rush, holding a phone and talking on it, not paying attention to her surroundings. She collided with Jinse, and after she ran off, Jinse and I realized that her hand had sohow been scratched, leaving a bloody cut.”
Qiao Zui and Fang Yao, who had been talking, suddenly had their attention captured.
The two exchanged a glance and simultaneously looked at Gu Junzhu.
Qiao Zui’s brows furrowed slightly. “Uncle, are you suspecting it wasn’t a coincidence?”
Gu Junzhu said flatly, “If it’s a coincidence, that’s ideal. But precaution is always better than negligence. We still need to investigate whether it truly was a coincidence.”
Mi Sheng didn’t quite understand what the group was implying, and an inexplicable tension rose within her. She squeezed Qiao Zui’s hand nervously. “This…”
“It’s okay.” Qiao Zui comforted her with a reassuring pat and then asked, “What kind of person was the one who bumped into Situ Jinse?”
Mi Sheng carefully recalled the encounter. “She was a young woman, very slim, wearing a hat and sunglasses, with her head lowered… She rushed past Jinse and , and with the hat and sunglasses blocking her face, I couldn’t rember what she looked like…”
Gu Junzhu turned to Ye Xingbei.
Ye Xingbei recalled the person who collided with her earlier that day. “It was also a very young woman, very slim. She wasn’t wearing a hat or sunglasses, but she had her hair loose—curly hair that covered most of her face. Like the other encounter, she rushed past quickly, and I couldn’t see her face clearly either.”
Mi Sheng promptly added, “The girl who bumped into Jinse had short hair—black, ear-length short hair.”
“That doesn’t rule out the possibility of it being the sa person,” Gu Junzhu understood her point. “Hair is easy to disguise; a wig could accomplish that.”
Mi Sheng couldn’t grasp why Gu Junzhu was fixated on this issue. However, an ominous feeling crept into her, unsettling her deeply. “Uncle, have you thought of sothing?”
“Perhaps I’m overthinking,” Gu Junzhu said to Ye Xingbei. “Tell where and when you were bumped into, give the exact ti and location, and I’ll have Xiao Gu Qi check the surveillance footage.”
He then turned to Mi Sheng. “Also, provide the specific ti and place when Situ Jinse was bumped.”
After the two shared the details with Gu Junzhu, he sent the information to Gu Qi, instructing him to retrieve the surveillance footage to check whether it was the sa person who collided with Ye Xingbei and Situ Jinse.
Feeling increasingly uneasy, Mi Sheng asked nervously, “Uncle, if the person who bumped into both Aunt and Jinse turns out to be the sa person, what does that an?”
“It ans her intentions are malicious.” Gu Junzhu replied calmly.
“And… and then what happens?” Mi Sheng’s heart hung in suspense, her emotions in turmoil.
Gu Junzhu explained, “Healthy skin and mbranes serve as the body’s protective layer. Once damaged, viruses or other harmful substances gain a chance to invade the body and cause harm.”
Mi Sheng’s face turned pale, and she stamred fearfully, “Uncle, are you saying soone might have poisoned Aunt and Jinse?”
Seeing her frightened to the point of losing color, Qiao Zui wrapped her in his arms, soothingly rubbed her arm, and reassured her, “Xiao Mi, don’t be scared. Uncle just tends to think ahead in all situations. It could simply be that he’s overthinking it, and we’re worrying unnecessarily.”
