Chapter 1455: Chapter 1459: One Must Be Cautious of Others

She knew how painful it was to contract this disease; she didn’t want others to suffer like she did.

Ye Xingbei and Situ Jinse had done her no wrong; she didn’t want to harm them.

So, what she said was true.

She had replaced the blade with a clean one, and she hadn’t sared her blood on the wounds of Situ Jinse and Ye Xingbei.

Situ Lanyu, that scum, judged her with his filthy and vile thoughts.

Situ Lanyu assud that because she had contracted this disease, she must be bitter and unwilling to accept it, eager to harm others to drag them down with her, to make others suffer the way she did—thus, he didn’t guard against her.

She replaced the blade with a clean one.

She successfully deceived Situ Lanyu.

She truly did not harm Situ Jinse and Ye Xingbei.

Every single word she said to those people just now was true.

Now, she was terrified.

Terrified that they wouldn’t uncover the truth and might think she had hard Situ Jinse and Ye Xingbei—wrongfully accusing and retaliating against her.

She had contracted this disease; sooner or later, she was going to die anyway. She didn’t care how it happened. But she feared that the news of her illness would beco public, dragging her parents and sister into the ss—causing them to be hated, scorned, and left to live out the rest of their lives in unease.

She was overco with panic, shaking uncontrollably.

“You had a run-in with Situ Lanyu?” Gu Junzhu suddenly asked.

Though phrased as a question, his tone was affirmative.

An Keqing raised her eyes to look at Gu Junzhu, montarily unsure.

She forced herself to calm down, thinking for a long ti before saying: “I wouldn’t call it a run-in… There was once a dance competition where I competed with Situ Lanyu for the lead dancer position, and Situ Lanyu lost… Also… so said that Situ Lanyu liked the president of our university’s student council. Situ Lanyu confessed to him, but he rejected her and told her that the person he liked was … But—but the president never confessed to .”

“Was Situ Lanyu there the day you got drunk?” Gu Junzhu asked again.

An Keqing struggled to recall: “Yes, she was there…”

Gu Junzhu asked: “Did she act strangely in any way?”

Suddenly, a thought struck An Keqing, and the last trace of color drained from her face—leaving her pale as a ghost.

Her voice trembled as she asked Gu Junzhu: “Are you—are you saying… the reason I contracted HIV was—is because Situ Lanyu orchestrated it?”

“I didn’t say that,” Gu Junzhu replied calmly. “That’s your business, not mine.”

An Keqing desperately tried to piece things together.

Details she’d ignored in the past now seed suspicious upon closer reflection.

A classmate had a birthday party. She wasn’t close to this classmate, but the classmate had begged her incessantly to attend, so she did.

This classmate happened to be one of Situ Lanyu’s followers.

That night, the classmates were unusually warm to her, tirelessly urging her to drink. A group of them pressured her to keep up until she unknowingly drank too much.

She had never once stayed out overnight before.

Around nine o’clock, her father called to ask if she needed to be picked up and brought ho. Before she could even finish her sentence, her phone was snatched away by Situ Lanyu.

Situ Lanyu held her phone and called her father “Uncle” in an especially sweet, polite tone, saying she would be staying at a classmate’s house with friends that night.

After hanging up the call, Situ Lanyu took it upon herself to turn off An Keqing’s phone. A group of classmates surrounded her, shouting about not going ho until they were all drunk.

Altogether, there were seven or eight of them. Not wanting to disappoint them, An Keqing reluctantly went along.

The next day, she discovered she had slept with soone.

When she confronted her classmates, they all claid that they had foolishly called in a gigolo the night before.

One for each of them.

They all looked guilty yet exhilarated, agreeing amongst themselves not to tell anyone else.

But in the end, only she ended up contracting HIV.
