Ye Xingbei turned to the police officers who were now beside them: “Officer, please tell us, if a young man who has just been released from prison and found a job, transfers five thousand yuan to his parents every month, would you say he has fulfilled his obligation to support them?”
The officer nodded, “Yes.”
“Then let ask again,” Ye Xingbei continued, “Does a younger brother—who was sent to prison by his own sister and brother-in-law—have any legal duty or obligation to pay off their high-interest debt?”
“None whatsoever!” The officer responded decisively and without hesitation.
“Did you hear that?” Ye Xingbei’s gaze swept across Mother Yu and the others. “This is the Gu Corporation, not the street market in front of your ho where you can stir up trouble at will! I will have lawyers pursue legal action against you!”
With that, she turned and walked towards the lobby.
The lead officer waved his hand, and the police surged forward, pinning everyone down and escorting them to the police cars.
The group dared not argue with the police, instead turning their complaints against Father Yu, Mother Yu, and Yu Hua.
Lying on the stretcher, Father Yu closed his eyes, too ashad to face anyone, so he continued feigning illness.
Mother Yu stared at the handcuffs on her wrists, tears streaming uncontrollably.
