"Of course not!" Ye Xingbei laughed, a bit embarrassed, quickly changing the topic: "What’s going on with Yu Mo and Jing Shasha?"
"You’re really not great at switching topics smoothly!" Gu Junzhu chuckled at her but still answered, "Jing Shasha is Ning Huaijing’s uncle’s cousin. Our company collaborates with the Jing family company, and the collaboration issues are handled by Yu Mo and the Jing family. Jing Shasha is Ning Huaijing’s uncle’s only daughter. Jing Shasha’s grandfather is an old-fashioned man saying he can’t rest in peace until he sees a great-grandchild. He wants Jing Shasha to find a live-in son-in-law to give him that great-grandchild. Jing Shasha went to the company to see her father and t Yu Mo. After a minor disagreent, Jing Shasha started clinging to Yu Mo and began chasing him, trying to make Yu Mo marry into their family as a live-in son-in-law."
Ye Xingbei frowned, "Does she genuinely like Yu Mo, or is she just ssing with him?"
"She probably genuinely likes Yu Mo," Gu Junzhu said lightly. "Even if I lent her so courage, she wouldn’t dare ss with soone under my wing."
"Well, that’s a relief," Ye Xingbei asked, "What about her character? She seems a bit... unruly. She’s not one of those spoiled rich girls, is she? The kind that’s really bad, like Situ Lanyu?"
"Not to that extent," Gu Junzhu was amused by her comnt, "Ning Huaijing dotes on Jing Shasha a lot. Ning Huaijing is a clever man; if Jing Shasha were as bad as Situ Lanyu, Ning Huaijing definitely wouldn’t spoil her like that."
Ye Xingbei asked, "So, you don’t really know much about Jing Shasha’s character, do you?"
"Right," Gu Junzhu replied, "I’ve only seen her two or three tis and don’t know her well."
"Figured as much!" Ye Xingbei sighed, "No wonder you have zero compassion for her, cold as ice, scared her off like she was a startled mouse."
Gu Junzhu raised an eyebrow at her, "Are you secretly hoping I’d show her so compassion?"
"As if!" Ye Xingbei glared at him fiercely, "Go ahead, show her so sympathy, I dare you!"
"Nope," Gu Junzhu shook his head with a grin, "I’ve got a fierce Hedong lion at ho; I’m not risking it, not at all!"
"You’re the worst!" Ye Xingbei pouted playfully, wrapping her arms around his waist and burying her face in his chest. She sighed softly, "Yu Mo is really unlucky. First, he has that kind of family to deal with, and now he’s run into a spoiled rich girl like Jing Shasha... But thinking about it, Jing Shasha does have a point. With how cruel Yu Mo’s parents are to him, severing ties with the Yu family wouldn’t be such a bad thing. If Jing Shasha genuinely likes him and he develops feelings for her too, being a live-in son-in-law might not be the worst option. If their kids take the Jing surna and have no ties to the Yu family, that might actually be better. Yu Mo’s parents are so shaless; even if Yu Mo gets married and has children, the Yu family definitely wouldn’t let him go—they’d cling to him for the rest of his life."
If Yu Mo really becos a live-in son-in-law, with Jing Shasha’s unruly personality, she would definitely handle the Yu family if they tried to interfere with him.
If Yu Mo’s future children take the Jing surna, the connection with the Yu family would be completely cut off.
At that point, it’d be a clean break from the Yu family.
The Yu family wouldn’t be able to take advantage of him anymore.
That would be ideal.
Gu Junzhu flicked her forehead lightly, "That’s Yu Mo’s situation; stop worrying about it. I’ve still got work to finish. Go entertain yourself for a bit—no more than an hour."
