Chapter 1491: Chapter 1495: Slls so good!

“It’s nothing, just chatting.” Gu Junzhu sat upright and picked up his tea to drink, but Ye Xingbei snatched it away.

“It’s cold, I’ll get you a fresh cup.” Ye Xingbei poured out the tea in the cup and replaced it with a steaming hot one, handing it to him.

“Aunt Ye is so thoughtful!” Qiao Zui, along with Mi Sheng, sat down across from them, grinning as he complinted Ye Xingbei.

Ye Xingbei pressed her lips into a smile, suddenly recalling what Gu Junzhu had said earlier to praise her.

Gu Junzhu enjoyed tea, so she’d deliberately taken an interest in studying tea-making whenever she had free ti.

Recently, her appetite hadn’t been great, and she wasn’t eating much, so Gu Junzhu had brought ho a chef whose ancestors were reputed to have served as Imperial Chefs.

Love grows stronger when both sides give equally.

If only one person gives while the other rely receives without reciprocating, even the hottest love will cool soday.

She and Gu Junzhu were in a good place now—he cared for her, and she cared for him. What could be better than that?

“What’s that sll? It’s so fragrant!” Before anyone could respond, Qiao Zui imdiately chid in again, glancing toward the kitchen.

“I brought ho a chef,” Gu Junzhu explained. “It’s said her ancestors served as Imperial Chefs, and her culinary skills are excellent. Tonight, we’ll try her dishes. If we’re satisfied, we’ll keep her as our family’s chef.”

Qiao Zui chuckled and teased, “Mainly it’s to find out if Aunt Ye approves of the food, isn’t it?”

Living together, everyone in the household knew that Ye Xingbei’s appetite had been poor these past days and that she ate very little.

Gu Junzhu raised an eyebrow at him. “Do you have a problem with that?”

“No, no!” Qiao Zui instantly backed down, waving his hands. “I’m just ashad of myself! How co I didn’t think to get Aunt Ye a new chef given her poor appetite? I’ve been terribly neglectful! Clearly, Uncle Gu is more thoughtful!”

“…” Ye Xingbei’s mouth twitched hard.

Neglectful?

Young Master Qiao, you really don’t care about maintaining any kind of image.

Sure enough, it runs in the family—the thickness of your face is exactly like your uncle’s.

It was awkward for Ye Xingbei, given Qiao Zui was older than her, to talk about things like being neglectful with her.

But Qiao Zui and Mi Sheng didn’t seem to mind in the slightest; they acted as though it was perfectly natural.

Ye Xingbei suspected it had sothing to do with the environnt and atmosphere they grew up in. Mi Sheng’s personality was completely non-petty—exceptionally gentle and free of the scheming little tendencies that many young won had. She was magnanimous and accommodating.

Qiao Zui was lucky to have married such a wife—it was his good fortune, but hers as well.

If Qiao Zui had married soone overly dramatic, the household definitely wouldn’t carry on with such harmony.

“It slls amazing! What did the new chef make that’s this fragrant?” Qiao Zui said while turning again toward the kitchen.

Gu Chi ca over holding two serving plates, greeted everyone in the room, and set the plates down on the coffee table. “This is an appetizer made by Miss Guu for everyone to try.”

As soon as Gu Chi walked out of the kitchen carrying the food, Xiao Shumiao, who had been excitedly playing with Lingyue on the side, dashed to the coffee table, leaving Lingyue behind. His big, sparkling eyes stared at the plates. “Wow, what’s that? It’s so pretty!”

The two plates each held six golden blossoms in full bloom.

Gu Chi smiled and explained, “These are real flowers—the chrysanthemums we grow right in our backyard, which I just picked. Miss Guu coated them in her specially mixed batter and deep-fried them.”

Deep-fried flowers?

Even Ye Xingbei, who had traveled far and tasted countless cuisines, had never encountered this dish before.
