Her relationship with her father- and mother-in-law was strained.

Yu Mo was born because they forced her to have him.

Even before Yu Mo was born, she harbored deep resentnt toward him.

After Yu Mo was born, she used the excuse of Yu Hua’s poor health to leave Yu Mo with her father- and mother-in-law to raise.

She didn’t have a shred of affection for Yu Mo.

After her father- and mother-in-law passed away, Yu Mo returned to live with her.

Whenever she saw Yu Mo, she would rember how his grandparents had oppressed her, filling her with anger and bitterness.

Yu Hua accused Yu Mo, and Yu Mo was sentenced to five years in prison—this even gave her a twisted sense of joy.

In her mind, she often muttered to her deceased father- and mother-in-law, "Look, this is your precious boy. Even now that you’re gone, he’s still under my control, isn’t he?"

The pride she felt back then has now turned into utter despair.

If she’d known how accomplished Yu Mo would beco, she wouldn’t have acted so ruthlessly toward him back then.

She kept telling herself that no matter what she did to Yu Mo, he was still her son, the child she carried in her womb for ten months. No matter where or when, Yu Mo ought to listen to her and take care of her.

And besides, it was Yu Hua—not her—who accused Yu Mo. Surely, Yu Mo wouldn’t do anything to harm her.

With this sense of invincibility, she unhesitatingly poured all her assets into covering the debts of her daughter and son-in-law.

After all, her son was competent—he was the Vice President of the Gu Group. When she had nothing left, wouldn’t it be entirely reasonable to have Yu Mo support her?

At that point, maybe she’d even live in a villa with Yu Mo, pampered by chauffeurs and servants—far better than living in her son-in-law’s asly little house.

She never anticipated that Yu Mo could be so heartless.

It wasn’t just that he refused to help Yu Hua—he even disowned his own parents.

A monthly paynt of five thousand yuan for their support? That’s it?

What can five thousand yuan even cover?

It wouldn’t even be enough to pay a tenth of the high-interest loan’s interest!

Her hatred for Yu Mo was so intense that it felt like her organs were being twisted to mush—so agonizing that it made her wish she were dead. Yet, she could do nothing about it.

She clutched her chest, her body convulsing as she collapsed into her seat.

The police guarding her rushed to administer first aid and shouted to the driver, "Hurry! The prisoner is having a dical ergency—get her to the hospital!"

Prisoner?

Prisoner!?

Mother Yu clutched her chest, a bitter smile spreading across her face.

She had fought and clawed all her life, yet here she was, in her old age, not only penniless but now labeled a prisoner.

How had she sunk to such a pitiful state?

On the rooftop of the building opposite the Gu Group headquarters, Yu Hua sat numbly, holding her child. Her tears had already dried, and she stared blankly at the ant-like figures moving about far below.

She wasn’t sitting too close to the edge.

There were railings around the rooftop.

She wouldn’t accidentally fall off.

Yet, as soon as the rescue officers approached, she stretched out her hands, dangling the child below the railings, threatening them that if anyone dared co close, she’d throw the child off first and then jump herself.

The officers had confidence that they could grab her before she fell, and an air cushion had already been set up below, making her survival nearly certain even if she did jump. But there was no guaranteed way to keep the baby safe.

The child was far too young.

Not even a year old yet; the slightest mishap could be fatal.

A female officer who had followed up looked on helplessly as Yu Hua extended the baby outside the railing. She was so furious that her teeth ached from clenching, suppressing the impulse to curse Yu Hua as unworthy of being a mother—indeed, unworthy of being human.

But, fearing that further provocation might lead Yu Hua to actually drop the baby, the officer could only endure it silently.

Yu Hua sat dazedly on the rooftop, as ti ticked by. She was thirsty, hungry, and exhausted, but still, Yu Mo didn’t co.
