"Let’s go, we should head back," Qian initiated.
Louis nodded:
"Then let’s hurry, I feel the weak passage won’t hold much longer."
...
After the two left the Fallen Shadow Nether Realm, Louis looked back at the weak passage behind them.
The passage no longer writhed chaotically but completely dissipated in their gaze, as if it never existed.
"As expected... Old Deng, you let us in on purpose!"
The essence of summoning magic is about forming a connection.
Qian’s desire to see her mother.
The lingering soul of Rogen in the soul blade yearning to et his lover.
The two desires intertwined and ultimately ford the basis of the summoning.
This was the reason he and Miss Qian both fell into the Fallen Shadow Nether Realm.
Fate, wondrous and inexplicable.
When the two left the Fallen Shadow Nether Realm, they could vaguely see the rising sun on the horizon.
Louis felt chills run down his spine and turned to Qian:
"Did we really stay in the Fallen Shadow Nether Realm for that long?"
Miss Qian nodded and said:
"They were so absorbed that they both forgot the ti."
Louis felt his head was about to explode:
"No, I have to go back to the Prince’s Mansion, or things will get chaotic."
He initially thought that even if he was summoned to the Fallen Shadow Nether Realm, he wouldn’t stay long.
Unexpectedly, he and Qian, watching Rogen’s mory fragnts and witnessing the reunion of this pair of lovers, had unknowingly imrsed themselves the whole night.
At this point, the maids at the Prince’s Mansion should already be preparing his breakfast, or even a butler might have co to his room to wake him up.
If they discovered he wasn’t in his bedroom and found the bed ice-cold, they’d know Louis had been gone for hours.
After searching in the Prince’s Mansion without finding him, this matter might even be reported directly to the Imperial Palace.
"Damn it, hopefully, they’re slower to react today."
Louis bid Qian farewell and imdiately prepared to dash to the Prince’s Mansion.
"Wait..."
Miss Qian suddenly spoke.
Louis turned back: "What’s wrong?"
Miss Qian softly said:
"Thank you for today... Also, could you co with to see the festival tonight?"
Louis looked at Qian.
The sadness in her eyes had not dissipated.
As for why she wanted to see the festival, it was probably to make up for regrets for her parents, to see the place that held their fond mories?!
But a lone man and woman going out so late at night seed a bit inappropriate.
Yet, seeing her so disconsolate, he couldn’t bear to refuse.
"Sure, let’s et tonight."
Louis agreed to her request.
...
[Location: Prince’s Mansion]
Louis looked at Beatrice sitting in the hall, almost breaking into a sweat.
Evidently, his butler and maids were more diligent than he imagined.
Upon discovering Louis was missing, they imdiately inford Beatrice.
Even the little swan ca over yawning.
Of course, Beatrice knew about Louis’s plans for the evening. She raised an eyebrow and looked at him, saying:
"So you two stayed in the Fallen Shadow Nether Realm all night?"
Louis nodded.
"Is everything sorted on Rogen’s side?"
Louis thought for a mont: "Theoretically, it’s resolved, but whether Miss Qian can find closure is hard to say."
Beatrice shook her head and said:
"I know her; no matter how sad she is, she’ll quickly adjust and devote herself to a new life."
Louis said:
"If so, then that’s good."
The little swan, trying hard to suppress her drowsiness, finally ca to her senses.
She raised her head and glanced at the two, sleepily saying:
"You two are discussing things behind my back again!"
Louis retorted rcilessly:
"Clearly, soone is still not awake even when it’s broad daylight and missed it."
The little swan protested: "I just took a short nap! And I heard you promised to watch the bonfire with her!"
Louis wiped off so sweat, glaring fiercely at the little swan.
"Dummy, I’ve deliberately avoided ntioning it, and you still bring it up? Are you trying to trip up!"
The little swan pursed her lips, unable to hide her mischievous smile.
Louis nodded and said:
"Yes, so let’s go together tonight!"
He looked towards Beatrice.
Beatrice revealed a slight smile:
"Alright, I haven’t participated in the Tranquil Festival for many years."
To be precise, after becoming busy with duties, her limited ti was heavily compressed.
It’s rare to have a chance to relax, so she didn’t mind going out.
...
Ti rewinded an hour earlier.
Location: Fallen Shadow Nether Realm
After Louis and Qian left the Fallen Shadow Nether Realm, the light gathered by Rogen and his lover began to dissipate.
At the very mont when all light was about to disappear, the mory fragnts floating in mid-air suddenly wobbled.
Just like a TV screen turning off when the power is out, the surrounding mory fragnts beca increasingly blurry.
But in the next mont, several mory fragnts burst forth.
Unfortunately, the two of them, having already left the Fallen Shadow Nether Realm, could no longer see this final segnt.
In that last mory fragnt, the ti ca to the day Qian’s mother died.
Amidst Rogen’s cries of grief, Qian’s expression was as cold as the river water in January.
Her face was covered in crimson lines, looking coldly at Rogen:
"Why haven’t you shed a single tear at this mont."
Having just endured the pain of his lover’s passing, Rogen suddenly lifted his head, staring blankly at Qian, a trace of confusion flickering in his eyes:
