"Mr. Mayer, from now on, you are free."

In the tent, Nuke looked at Louis and said.

Louis slowly opened his eyes and, looking at Nuke, said, "It seems our guest has arrived."

Nuke nodded and said, "The news that the Mayer Comrce Association was captured by us has spread, and the Duke Chancellor has also arrived here."

Upon hearing this, Louis got up and said, "Then is it alright for to et this Chancellor whom I’ve heard so much about?"

Louis asked Nuke to arrange for a giant troll to take them over, and headed directly to where the Duke Chancellor was.

But just as he approached, he saw that the guards on Duke’s side were standing off against a group of giant trolls, with tensions so high that conflict could erupt at any mont.

It was only until Louis walked over that the two sides slightly restrained themselves.

Louis smiled and politely said:

"Mayer has a matter and wishes to see the Duke Chancellor."

A voice ca from within the tent: "Let them in."

Seeing Louis walk into the tent, the giant trolls outside snorted coldly and left directly.

Louis walked in and saw the white-haired Duke sitting on a chair. Seeing Louis enter, he stood up and approached, saying:

"Mr. Mayer, thank you for risking danger to secure us a chance for negotiation."

Louis shook his head and said, "It’s rely for long-term interests."

"First, let tell you what I learned about the Giant Demon Tribe in the past few days."

He recounted to Duke the events surrounding the Giant Demon Tribe’s decision to begin deploying troops for suicide attacks.

Duke’s expression beca more serious.

He said, "The situation is more complex than I imagined."

The conflict between the two sides not only has external entities muddying the waters, but internal unrest as well.

The Ense Empire and the Dragon Empire were nearly drawn into this war, yet it is quite difficult for the many involved parties to actually gain any benefits by ddling in this war.

Most likely, it will end in total loss for all.

"By my calculations, they should have given an answer by now."

The Duke Chancellor looked at Louis and said, "Mr. Mayer, will you join us in eting the Grand Chief afterward?"

Louis nodded.

This was the very reason he ca here.

After receiving a clear response, a hint of curiosity flashed across Duke’s face:

"I noticed that these giant trolls seem to have quite a favorable attitude toward you. Did you do sothing during this ti?"

Louis calmly said, "I rely opened up a small portion of Mayer Trading’s channels to them, like the trade of so bulk goods."

The Duke Chancellor said, "If this happened in Tunisia, soone would likely file a report to the Noble Council accusing you of aiding the enemy."

Louis feigned puzzlent and said, "Aiding the enemy? From the Ense Empire’s perspective, we have no conflict with the Giant Demon Tribe."

The Duke laughed, "Indeed, so things are easier for outsiders like you to handle; we can’t manage it."

The Noble Council, already aware of the Giant Demon Tribe’s inclination to wage war, has actually begun restricting local comrce associations from supplying grain to the Giant Demon Tribe.

Ironically, those frantically gathering grain on the market are not the large comrce associations, but a few nobles who were long privy to the impending war’s secrets.

It’s evident that so have predicted the coming year of war and famine, believing that a grain price surge is inevitable, and seek to profit from it.

Along with asures to curtail grain exports, it has further fueled market trends.

Even the grain prices in neighboring countries have begun to rise.

In this situation, it is bound to affect the mindset of those in the Giant Demon Tribe.

It is well known that nomadic peoples have always been short on grain supplies.

Now the ti has co to the latter part of the year.

In two months, winter will be upon us.

The Giant Demon Tribe, lacking in grain, will endure an extrely unforgettable winter.

By then, even if they do not wish to initiate war, they will need to start expanding the scope of the conflict to obtain more food.

From Tunisia’s viewpoint, it is difficult to justify sending aid to the giants, as public opposition would break the spine of those in charge.

This matter is more suitably handled by Mayer Comrce Association.

This gave him a montary relief.

...

The next day.

Louis and his party boarded the Duke Chancellor’s carriage and used a magic scroll to transfer to the current main camp of the giant trolls.

Upon disembarking, they were almost imdiately led to the Grand Chief’s tent.

In the tent, they saw the Grand Chief, who appeared smaller and thinner than the average giant troll.

It’s hard for outsiders to imagine that among the giant trolls, typically over two ters tall, there would be soone under 1.6 ters.

Yet, this giant troll was the Grand Chief of the Giant Demon Tribe.

To Louis, though, the negotiations off the bat seed sowhat awkward.

The Grand Chief appeared disinterested, clearly having little desire to engage in proper conversation with humans.

Duke chuckled and didn’t berate him; he rely said calmly:

"If your side’s attitude is like this, there is no need to continue negotiations."

Hearing Duke’s words, the Grand Chief slowly lifted his head, his eyes glinting, and said nonchalantly:

"As the Grand Chief, I need to be responsible for the Giant Demon Tribe. Since you have stirred the dispute, we find it necessary to show our stance."

Duke laughed and said, "Even if you know there is soone inciting from the outside?"

The Grand Chief said coldly, "Whether there is outside incitent is not important; what matters is that there has never been true friendly interaction between Tunisia and the giant trolls."

"Rather than compromising to you all and losing the foundation that the giant trolls have always depended on, it’s better to stir up a war and fight for a chance of survival."
