A tear slid down.
Pitch-black flas slowly devoured Bart’s body, while the resplendent Blood of the Demigods gathered and took shape, the Hell Dragon Pearl circling that mass of fresh blood for a long ti.
A current of sorrowful aura spread out.
That clump of blood slowly seeped into his body.
Imdiately after, a soaring aura burst forth from within him.
LV31.
LV32.
LV33.
...
It surged all the way up to LV40.
In the distance, a witch lay on a deck chair, quietly watching this scene as she said:
"Ah, so this is the true result of the Great Sin Experint?"
That was the Great Witch’s Aurora’s Miracle Cottage.
She watched the Little Dragon Emperor, who had climbed to the peak of Demigod in the blink of an eye, and let out a soft laugh.
A mont later she turned her head to the side.
"Don’t you find this scene very familiar, Lazy Witch?"
The Black Swan’s gaze was calm; she stood there, lost in thought.
The Great Witch got no response. She smiled and said, "This is the final outco of the Great Sin Experint, after all—[Simulated Gluttony], a Forbidden Technique that imitates the Sins devouring one another, ultimately achieving ascension through mutual consumption.
For the Thirteen Families, who as Curse Swordsn devour heterogeneous bloodline origins, this is the key to restarting vitality at the brink of annihilation."
The Black Swan said mildly, "Only, the many problems that will arise later from pursuing bloodline power—that will be another story altogether."
On this day, Kane Jean finally shed the title of Little Dragon Emperor.
The Dragon Emperor Kane stepped onto the stage of history.
...
Location: Luokeshi Imperial Palace
The place that had once served as the residence of the Lokeshi honorary emperor had now beco a ruin.
Kane walked upon it, his expression numb, the innocence of youth gone without a trace.
The remaining Patriarchs—so were dead, so crippled.
Quite a few people had already begun [Simulated Gluttony] in advance, passing their power on to the next generation.
However, the casualties among high-level combat power were simply too catastrophic.
Counting carefully, the Demigod level was either completely wiped out, or had suffered irreparable injuries and would have to live out their days in retirent.
In such circumstances, Kane used the absolute authority he had traded his current strength for to push through a resolution.
Demigods who had lost all possibility would relinquish their chances to those more gifted.
In the end, among the eight family factions comprising the Transfer Faction and the Resistance Faction, only two factions managed, through Demigod-on-Demigod [Simulated Gluttony], to cultivate two peak Demigods.
The other six factions only cultivated six Legendaries.
Considering the present situation, and that the invasions from the gigantic world clusters on the ground of the spatial passages had temporarily been cut off, the Resistance Faction and Transfer Faction reached a consensus: to rebuild the wasteland.
That afternoon.
With a mountain of unresolved matters still pending, a high-ranking official hurried to Kane’s side:
"Kane, while clearing the Imperial Palace ruins, we discovered sothing."
"What did you find?"
"A collection box left behind by the thirteen Patriarchs when the Lokeshi was born thousands of years ago, beneath the place in the old palace where the Thirteen-Family Pact was once signed."
"Co, let’s take a look."
When they arrived, they saw a wooden box protected by layers upon layers of rune Arrays.
Kane reached out and touched the Array; the runes on the wooden box gradually dissipated.
He froze.
This Array didn’t have much defensive power; its main purpose was to determine whether one possessed the Thirteen Families’ Divine Artifacts.
He had learned many things from Bart; he could still recognize this Array.
Clearly, this was sothing left by the predecessors for their descendants.
Kane pondered whether there might be so treasure inside that could help the Empire today.
When he opened it, however, he found that inside the wooden box, protected layer upon layer by rune Arrays, there remained only a sheet of gold paper.
Written upon it:
[Commoration of the Day the Lokeshi Union Was Founded]
The text below:
"Dear Child of Gold, greetings:"
"Today is a special day; we warmly celebrate this great and hope-filled day."
"Our era is interesting; presumably yours is as well. We are now building the Lokeshi Golden Spirit, gradually abandoning the support of the gods and moving toward selfhood and independence."
"By your ti, you should already be living in an age where you need not worship deities, but rely on your own hands to forge the future, yes?"
"I believe you will have made good use of our land, opened up the seas, and explored into the depths of the Astral, carrying on our ideals and advancing toward every unknown front."
"By now, perhaps you are already strolling across the myriad worlds?"
"Have you already been exchanging knowledge and technology with the astral drifters?"
"I believe the work our grandfathers and fathers are doing will certainly be carried on in your hands and brought to victory."
"That must be a scene we can only witness in our dreams. When that ti cos, please lay a bouquet upon our graves!"
"When the world where all are like gods descends, when the banner of Lokeshi flies high, that will surely an we have kept our first oath and returned to see you."
"From all of the Thirteen Families"
A roaring dragon.
A tiger beating its wings.
A lion howling at the moon.
An elephant treading ice.
A bird in flas.
A serpent in armor.
A wolf sweeping all before it.
A stag looking back.
A monkey bearing a staff.
A hare in full sprint.
A fox steeped in cunning.
A whale churning the sea.
A bull in charge.
Thirteen bestial patterns were carved upon it.
They quietly stood guard around this letter.
Kane held the letter, his hand trembling for so reason.
When he lifted his head, what he saw was a city reduced to ruins.
Turning his head away, he saw the road stretching out toward the wilds.
The family crests of the Thirteen had already dimd, and along with them the Thirteen Divine Artifacts had fallen apart.
The remaining eight families were eking out a fragile existence on this holand.
And they themselves had personally ended the era their ancestors had dread of.
They would now welco the faith of the gods.
The nation where all were like gods, where all stood on their own, had co to an end.
At this mont, he seed to understand why the Escape Faction had insisted on running to the Astral.
In this era, they could not see the slightest possibility of continuing their forebears’ ideals.
So they chose to flee in disarray, escaping toward the depths of the starry sky.
Kane closed his eyes in silence.
To betray the first oath was indeed heartbreak beyond words.
But the Lokeshi of today had already lost all reason to maintain atheism.
This land needed the protection of a Church’s power.
And yet... idealism may decline, but soday, eventually.
"Soday... we will take it back—the era we dread of."
He opened his eyes and made the final pronouncent:
"Everyone, since we are ultimately to let faith pour into Lokeshi, why not, like those long-eared folk, first create a god that belongs to us Lokeshi?"
"Such as?"
"Such as the Eternal Fierce Sun."
"The Eternal Fierce Sun has fallen."
"But He still has relics left in the mortal world."
"You an..."
"Let us support the Fiery Sun Church as the state religion. Gather the faith of countless subjects, direct everything toward the Sun, and let a new Sun God rise from these ruins."
"Is that really all right?"
"It is. This is a gift to a justice that remained unwavering unto death."
At these words, the Patriarchs pondered for a mont, countless thoughts flashing through their minds, and in the end all ca to agreent.
As they all nodded, Kane’s body slowly rose into the sky.
The power of a top-tier Demigod covered the whole field, and a cold yet resolute voice rang out.
"mbers of all families have fought in blood until all was over...
But the age of chaos is upon us; relying solely on our own strength will only bring more casualties to the innocent...
You have the freedom to believe in gods, and the freedom not to.
You have the freedom to believe in this god, and the freedom not to believe in that one.
The Knight of the Scorching Sun has reached its twilight, but the knights of the Sun itself shall be engraved upon the lands of the Empire."
The thunderous voice spread in all directions.
At last, the Dragon Emperor Kane forced out those words with difficulty:
"From this day forth, the Fiery Sun Church shall be established as the state religion of the Lokeshi Empire, for the sole reason that, amid the upheaval, they were the allies who most steadfastly stood by our side."
In this mont, endless faith began to be apportioned.
A weighty portion surged toward the Eternal Fierce Sun, yet because He had truly fallen, it gradually shifted toward the Voice of Fiction.
In the afterglow of sunset, a new figure slowly rose.
It was a Knight chasing the Eternal Fierce Sun.
His na was—
[Child of the Sun Chaser].
In this instant, the Dawn of the Eternal Fierce Sun ca to an end.
But the dusk of the Child of the Sun Chaser descended.
The Dragon Emperor quietly watched this scene. After a long ti, he bowed his head and said:
"Soday, soday..."
And then there was only a long, long silence.
