Add Charcoal!

Add Charcoal!_1 48: Chapter 48 Add Charcoal!

Add Charcoal!

Add Charcoal!_1 [The red mud in the pond, damp and clammy, possesses the effect of insulating against high temperatures; using it to make beggar’s chicken, the chicken wouldn’t cook.]

Eater God comnted.

Upon hearing this, Lin Baici’s eyebrows twitched.

Beggar’s chicken, he knew, involved cleaning the chicken, brushing it with fat and seasonings, then wrapping it in lotus leaves and clay before roasting it in a fire pit.

Reminded of how Song Li and the others had died, Lin Baici imdiately rushed toward the mud pond.

Crack!

With a dive, Lin Baici flung himself into the mud pond, then began to roll around, covering himself in mud.

Still not satisfied, he started to grab more red mud and sar it on himself, getting ready to coat himself with it.

“Brother Lin, what are you…”

18D was dumbfounded.

Lin Baici certainly hadn’t gone mad.

“What are you waiting for?

Co over and sar mud on yourself, the thicker the better!”

Lin Baici urged.

No wonder the Eater God made one choose those kilns close to the mud pond; this was the reason.

Xia Hongyao, with her long legs, dashed to the edge of the mud platform, then with a leap, jumped into the mud pond.

After rolling around a few tis, she grabbed a handful of red mud and sared it on her face.

The girl with the high ponytail was very beautiful—the type of girl who would typically disdain such image-ruining activities, but Xia Hongyao seed to be having a riotous good ti.

Just like a sled dog!

Hmm!

In terms of intelligence, Xia Hongyao was just a tad smarter than sled dogs, right?

Having witnessed this scene, Ma Yuan made up his mind.

Follow him!

With the ticulousness and caution that Lin Baici had shown, how could he possibly take risks?

Even if he did take risks,

He must have so assurance!

Follow him!

A sure win!

Ma Yuan picked up a “mud person” and ran towards the mud pond, rolling around like a wild boar, coating his body with mud.

The Mud Creature stared expressionlessly at these four people, then its gaze fell on Lin Baici, and it curled its mouth into a playful smirk.

“Any more apprentices willing to step forward?”

The Mud Creature swept its gaze across the area.

The bespectacled man, holding back his tornt upon seeing his wife’s corpse and the bulging stomach, ultimately couldn’t contain his rage.

“Fuck this shit!”

The bespectacled man bellowed and sprinted towards the Mud Creature.

He had lost his mind.

The Mud Creature stood there, unmoving, and when the bespectacled man approached, it casually swung its large hand, striking the man on the head.

Bang!

The bespectacled man’s head exploded, blood, brain matter, and fragnts of bone scattering in a radial pattern.

Thud!

The body hit the ground.

“Who else wants to challenge ?”

The Mud Creature inquired, casually flicking off the flesh scraps from its hand.

To kill a person was as easy for it as swatting a fly.

No one answered when the Mud Creature’s gaze fell on them; they all lowered their heads, not daring to make eye contact.

[What a bunch of useless trash.

When given an opportunity you can’t even grasp it.

Such ingredients are too low-end; even dogs wouldn’t eat them!]

Eater God expressed his contempt.

“There are too few apprentices in the first batch; it’s not enough.

Since you aren’t volunteering, I will choose for you!”

The Mud Creature pointed at random.

You!

You!

You!

It selected six people, making the total count ten.

Lin Baici glanced over and recognized one of them—it was the aunty who had been playing TikTok videos aloud on the train.

[Yeesh, this stewardess is quite pretty.

Too bad she’s going to be roasted into charred corpse!]

Eater God lanted: [Otherwise, stead gently, she’d be delicious!]

Among the six, there was a woman, probably in her twenties, dressed in a red skirt, with a white short-sleeved shirt and a red vest over it.

Her black stockings were ripped in many places and muddy, and she had lost one of her low-heeled black leather shoes.

Her outfit was that of a high-speed rail stewardess!

“Hurry to the mud pond and wrap yourselves in mud!”

Xia Hongyao urged.

“Quickly choose a kiln.

The assessnt will begin in ten seconds!”

The Mud Creature hurried them and began counting down.

Now, the six people had no ti to spare; regardless of how reluctant they were, they had to rush to pick up their mud figures and hastily look for a kiln.

“Choose one close to the mud pond.”

Lin Baici shouted, but no one listened.

The Mud Creature’s countdown made them panic, like sheep being chased by hungry wolves, they each chose the kiln closest to them.

“You ten, listen to my explanation and follow it strictly.”

The Mud Creature warned, “I will only explain once!”

As they had no more ti, the six people listened intently.

18D tensed up as well, pricking up his ears.

“Heh!”

A smirk crossed Lin Baici’s mouth.

He had the skill of Guo Er Cheng Song; he could rember any spoken words after just one listening, and wouldn’t forget them for at least three years.

“Open the kiln!”

“Mud figure into the furnace!”

The passengers didn’t have to do it themselves.

As soon as the Mud Creature announced it, the mud figures they had crafted began to move, walking to the front of the kilns and then leaping inside.

“Ignite the fire!”

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

The charcoal in the furnace ignited.

These charcoals were palm-sized, one inch thick, and very uniform in shape.

“Ventilate to increase the temperature!”

After the Mud Creature uttered this fourth sentence, it shut its mouth.

The passengers stared at it, muttering the four steps to themselves.

Lin Baici, however, was observing the state of the kiln.

Wasn’t it supposed to ventilate to increase the temperature?

Why was there no movent?

The next mont, Lin Baici realized that it was up to them to act now.

He imdiately squatted at the mouth of the furnace and grabbed the blower’s handle tightly, pulling it vigorously.

Whoosh!

Whoosh!

Whoosh!

As air blew into the furnace, the fla surged, and the charcoal burned even more fiercely.

Ma Yuan and Xia Hongyao snapped to action and hurriedly pumped the bellows.

“Brother Lin, are you sure this step is correct?”

18D was worried and wanted to wait to see if the mud figurine would issue any new orders.

“Not sure.”

Lin Baici didn’t speak with absolute certainty, what if he was wrong?

The other six people also began their operations.

But the flight attendant was clearly a city girl, who had never seen bellows, a tool only found in remote rural areas, and looked utterly perplexed as she grabbed it.

Fortunately, her adaptability was decent.

After watching how Lin Baici and the others used it, she also gritted her teeth and started pulling hard on the bellows.

“Add coal!”

The mud figurine instructed.

Next to the charcoal stove, there was a pile of black coal.

Everyone imdiately grabbed a piece and threw it into the furnace.

So black coal dust sared on their hands, but no one cared about such trifles.

“How much should we add?”

18D threw in seven or eight pieces before she raised her head, and seeing that the mud figurine had not spoken, she asked Lin Baici.

“Don’t know!”

Lin Baici had only added one piece of coal.

Although he didn’t understand firing pottery, such work, similar to making porcelain, must have strict requirents for the heat, so he did not rashly add more.

Moreover, he was still waiting for the Eater God’s comnt, but the mysterious voice didn’t co.

“There were ten pieces of coal in the furnace at the start, how about we add ten more?”

Ma Yuan suggested.

The ten passengers didn’t need to hesitate, as the mud figurine spoke again.

“Add three pieces of coal!”

A very clear instruction.

People imdiately threw two more pieces of coal into it.

But 18D, the TikTok aunt, and two other passengers were dumbfounded; they had just impulsively thrown in several pieces at once.

“Brother Lin, what should I do?”

18D was about to cry.

“Adding three more pieces should be okay, right?”

The TikTok aunt’s voice trembled.

“Do you think that’s possible?”

Ma Yuan was speechless.

It was clear that not following the mud figurine’s instructions would definitely result in a failure to produce a figurine.

“So what do we do?”

The TikTok aunt was on the verge of tears.

“Take the coal out!”

Lin Baici’s expression was grave.

“What?”

The TikTok aunt and 18D looked around imdiately, but they didn’t see any tools to take the coal out of the furnace.

“There’s not even a fire stick or shovel or sothing here?”

18D complained.

There wasn’t even a single blade of grass on the red mud platform, let alone other vegetation.

18D couldn’t even snap off a tree branch to use as a fire poker.

“Use your hands!”

Lin Baici knew this answer was cruel, but it was the only way.

“What?”

18D, the TikTok aunt, and two other passengers who had added extra coal were astonished.

With their hands?

They looked toward the furnace, where flas blazed fiercely.

If they put their hands in there, would they even have hands left?

“There are no tools, you can only use your hands, and you don’t have much ti left to hesitate!”

Ma Yuan added, “Because you added too much coal, the heat will differ from the others, which is sure to result in problems with the figurines you produce!”

The four of them panicked.

“Brother Lin…”

18D looked at Lin Baici, pleading, “Think of sothing!”

“There’s nothing I can do!”

Lin Baici shook his head.

“Damn it, why didn’t this guy make it clear when we were told to add coal?”

The TikTok aunt cursed, but it was of no use.

“Did I tell you to stop pumping the bellows?”

The mud figurine questioned.

Everyone was startled and quickly started to pump the bellows again.

“Add coal!”

“Three pieces!”

The mud figurine spoke up once more.

Lin Baici and the six others quickly grabbed the coal and threw it into the furnace.

“I…I added six pieces just now, so I don’t need to take any coal out now, right?”

The TikTok aunt was elated.

18D’s face turned pale.

He had to remove one piece to match the number specified by the mud figurine!

[Four self-righteous fools, at a ti like this, one simply cannot hesitate.

Now they have already missed the chance to redy their mistake– the difference in heat has dropped the success rate of the figurines coming out of the furnace to seventy percent!]

The Eater God mocked them.

Seventy percent might seem not too low!

But bear in mind the firing process had just begun, and who knows how many more steps there would be!

“If you want to live, strictly follow the instructions of this monster.

18D, you’d better remove the excess coal quickly!”

Lin Baici warned.

18D looked at the furnace glowing orange with the flas, unable to bring himself to reach in.

“Add coal!”

The mud figurine spoke again.

“Add coal!”

“Add coal!”

Within a quarter of an hour, the mud figurine called out to add coal three tis in total, and since he never instructed them to stop pumping, Lin Baici and the others kept pumping the bellows with all their might.

After absorbing the teorite and the God’s bones in Dragon Temple, Lin Baici’s physique had been enhanced, and he could still hold up under this kind of physical labor.

Xia Hongyao and Ma Yuan were also fine, but it was tough going for the others.

Especially for the delicate flight attendant and the TikTok aunt, who took turns pumping the bellows even though their arms were sore and they felt miserable.

“If this were a square dance competition, I could win first place!”

The TikTok aunt was frustrated.

Just as everyone was finding it hard to go on, a new instruction arrived.

“Lower the flas!”

18D cried, like a student who just realized they couldn’t even do the easiest bonus question on the final exam.

“How do we lower it?

We can’t possibly scoop the coal out of the furnace, right?”
