"You... you have... wounds on your body, child..."
At the next mont when Valentina spoke, a pair of long, white, tender ears suddenly stood up and wiggled beside her cheeks. They were adorned with many small earrings clinking softly, startling Valentina.
Unexpectedly, the little girl glanced at Valentina beside her, then shrank back to her original position, muttering as she opened her mouth,
"Mind your own business, trivial fish."
"..."
Valentina’s face turned dark, blocked by this girl’s words, unable to catch her breath.
She clenched her fist, wanting to give this impolite little brat a beating, but soon she seed to sense the deep despair and sadness hidden in the other’s words...
She couldn’t understand why the child in front of her was so unhappy, despite being so young...
But the wounds on this little girl’s body were only increasing, and the scarlet, fragrant blood brought Valentina back to her senses. She said worriedly,
"What... what exactly happened to you? You’re not going to get hacked to death right in front of , are you?"
The little girl didn’t even look at her and said,
"After all, everyone will die; it doesn’t matter if I die now... Only trivial ants like you would lant the passing of life."
"Ha, what kind of words are those? Isn’t the passing of life worthy of lant?"
The girl in front of her was slightly stunned upon hearing this, as if recalling sothing sad. She didn’t refute but lowered her voice even more,
"You’re right, trivial fish."
"You little brat, really..."
Valentina was already annoyed; she felt as if she had never been clear-headed, didn’t even know where she was, only just waking up, and as she did, she t this insolent little brat.
She stood up, gritting her teeth, trying to grab the long ears of the brat in front of her, only to find that the child moved unbelievably fast, suddenly appearing not far away, leaving her grasp empty.
The child looked at her disdainfully, muttering again,
"What trivial fish..."
Valentina’s face darkened, instantly made furious, charging at her again, but each ti she got close, the girl would be sowhere else, and she could never touch her.
It was as if this kid was playing her around, infuriating Valentina as she chased more and more...
But the next mont, her pursuit suddenly halted, and with it, her anger vanished.
Because she suddenly realized that she could stand up.
"I..."
She looked down at her feet, seeing her fair, pale body upright in the darkness, with perfectly intact legs standing powerfully there.
"I can stand up..."
Valentina no longer chased the girl in front of her, just dumbfounded, returning her gaze, watching as more blood soaked the girl’s dress entirely, while she still seed indifferent.
Valentina hesitated for a mont, unable to resist asking,
"What’s wrong with your body? Why is it still bleeding?"
The little girl no longer mouthed off but lay in the darkness, looking like she was waiting to die, and replied listlessly,
"Soone is hacking where my consciousness resides using those angels’ holy object. This holy object is of excellent quality, probably hamred by the angel of Michael’s wisdom... Yuphile, it should be her."
Valentina couldn’t understand any of those nas she ntioned, just pressed her lips together, slowly walked to the little girl’s side, and said,
"Then how can I help you? It can’t go on like this, right?"
"What’s the point of continuing? It’s just death. Anyway... we’ll all die."
"What kind of words are these, just because we all die, we shouldn’t live? When my legs were paralyzed, and I was not expected to live past twenty, I never thought like that, you’re so young, why be so dejected?"
Upon hearing "young," the little girl showed a hint of sarcasm, closed her eyes, and murmured,
"...You don’t understand, my mother, my siblings, everyone I care for is dead. Now, in this world, I’m the only one left of my race, there’s no aning to my existence anymore..."
"My race... also just left, and I haven’t even seen them... No, I have seen them, even if only after they’ve died..."
Valentina squatted beside the little girl, her previously muddled mories becoming clearer, suddenly recalling sothing that seed to have happened not long ago.
She thought of the Turand Family, the Wutong Tree, rembered the curse, the Moon Princess and Phoenixes who sacrificed themselves for this world, and also... Fisher.
"They are my unseen blood relatives, they placed the future of the race upon ... I don’t know if I alone can manage to do this, but they believe in ... I think I should believe in myself, even if I am alone, I cannot let them down."
The little girl opened her eyes, in the increasing scarlet on her body, thinking or seeing sothing unknown...
She suddenly turned her head towards Valentina beside her and said with a laugh,
"I forgot, you are a Phoenix."
"Phoenix... yes... I’m the last Phoenix..."
And just at the mont when this thought burst in Valentina’s mind, her body seed to have undergone an earth-shattering change.
Strands of feathers covered in frost slowly covered parts of her body, a pair of gigantic powerful wings gradually stretching out behind her, seemingly bringing the snow and wind from the Northern Realm.
Her posture grew taller, no longer fragile as before...
The glow of Ice erupted in her eyes, bringing a glimr of fate.
The girl in front of her watched this sole surviving Phoenix of the world for a long ti. Suddenly, she sat up, a strange power bursting forth on her body, and her wounds instantly reverted to their prior perfect state...
She asked,
"What’s your na, trivial fish Phoenix?"
"Trivial fish, you little kid, if you’re going to introduce yourself, do it properly!"
Valentina gently knocked on the little girl’s head with her fist, this ti she didn’t dodge, but let that fist lightly fall on her head, as if to awaken her from the darkness as well...
"My na is Valentina."
"Valentina..."
She chewed over the na, then stood up, suddenly moved to Valentina, saying to her,
"I am Tao, one of the Third Son Elves... Master Tao."
The next mont, terrifying brilliance erupted throughout the darkness, as if exploded by a peach blossom, scattering clarity.
Urged by the bright light, Valentina suddenly opened her eyes, as if all that was seen before was a re illusion.
What appeared again before her was the bright light of a room, and a broken... eggshell?
She curled up inside the eggshell, dumbfounded, opened her eyes for the first ti in her new body, taking in everything about the ceiling, yet seed so unadjusted...
"Thank goodness, young lady, you finally woke up, thank goodness..."
"Young lady..."
This voice...
So familiar...
Valentina turned her head blankly toward the outside of the shattered eggshell and saw that the quiet room was like only one person, the one who spoke, who was looking at her worriedly...
That person’s black beautiful hair was elegantly tied up, wrapped with a gem-embedded crown, presenting a look Valentina had seen countless tis.
Looking at that crown and the person’s appearance, countless mories instantly filled her mind, and she blinked her eyes, surprisingly finding that her eyelashes made pretty snowflakes fall with the motion.
Had she... shifted into a Phoenix?
But before she could explore her current form, looking at the woman before her watching worriedly, she couldn’t help but smile, murmuring,
"Thank goodness, Heidlin, you’re fine."
The bright candlelight revealed the woman outside brightly, her worried expression slightly stunned by Valentina’s words inside the eggshell, then her eyes reddened as if to shed tears,
"It’s , young lady... It’s , Heidlin... sob... Thank goodness, you finally woke up..."
The Phoenix of the Northern Realm finally awoke at this mont.
