"Ah~"
The piercing sound waves spread out in front of the giant beast, creating visible ripples in the seawater. Strangely, however, once these earsplitting sounds entered the ears of humans, they twisted into a delightful folk tune from ho.
Amid that singing, lodiously rendered in a soft, beautiful voice, everyone’s eyes unconsciously tinged with a faint red hue.
Pahetz spaced out for a mont, her mind uncontrollably sparking with a bizarre, violent impulse. Startled, she quickly covered her ears and shouted to everyone,
"Cover your ears! Everyone! Cover your ears! That thing is the ’Sea Demon Siren’!! If you want to live, cover your ears!"
Yes, at that mont, Pahetz finally recognized what that thing was.
According to the rumors in the Northern Realm, three terrifying legends existed in the mysterious ocean, each corresponding to formidable deep-sea beasts.
They were the physically mighty ’Giant Beast Kraken’, the elusive ’Jormungand’, and the cunning ’Sea Demon Siren’.
Legend had it that the Siren would play the role of a celestial singer, seducing with her beautiful song the ships that heard her voice, luring them unconsciously toward the abyss of death, straight into her belly.
Once swallowed by the Sea Demon Siren, one would beco part of it, helping it ensnare other unfortunate souls next ti.
But that was just a legend; the actual Sea Demon Siren was an extrely dangerous deep-sea creature, the smartest and most cunning among all sea beasts.
Not only was the Siren massive, but it also possessed countless strange tentacles capable of mimicking the appearance of its prey. Whenever it consud a demi-human or a human, it would use their language and crafty, seductive phrases to lure their kin into traps.
It was incredibly patient when hunting, and highly skilled at playing wicked tricks on its prey, undoubtedly the sa this ti.
Probably, while the Iceberg Queen was preparing to hunt the sea ghost that had surfaced for air, it had been lurking in the deep-sea all along, following them. The Iceberg Queen waited for the sea ghost to exhaust its physical strength, while the Siren waited for the Iceberg Queen to get busy hunting and reveal its vulnerability.
The sudden impact of the Siren against the ship’s bottom a mont ago could have capsized the whole vessel if Alagina hadn’t been supported by the Ice Prince. It wouldn’t directly collide with the Iceberg Queen, built strong as a vault. Once the ship capsized, sending people into the sea, they would stand no chance against it.
Fisher, subrged in water, heard both the Siren’s and Pahetz’s cries. Strangely though, as the sound waves entered his brain, the destructive urges dissipated in less than a second, not even a belch erged.
He glanced puzzledly at himself, unhard, and then turned his head to look at a crew mber beside him, whose eyes had already begun to turn red.
This, he recognized, was the effect of the "Fallen Resistance" acquired from the Demi-human Girls Completion Manual, although he hadn’t expected it to guard against the Siren’s singing, having thought it was only useful against Demon Species...
"Ossie!"
The next second, without ti to ponder further, he already saw the enormous sea beast charging toward them, his expression turning serious, he looked up to the sky and called out to Ossie.
In midair, Ossie’s flying figure swayed slightly, clearly affected by the Siren’s song but not as severely as the other humans.
Hearing Fisher’s cry, she shook her head, and turned to look toward the water where Fisher was yelling from.
"Get them back to the ship!"
Beside him, the crazed crew mbers had already started swimming toward the sea in delirium. Fisher quickly raised his hand and struck each of them sharply with his Fluid Sword to help them co to their senses, then bundled them together and pulled them back.
"Quickly! It’s coming!"
"Roar!"
Sensing the sea growing turbulent, Ossie obeyed Fisher’s call, twisting in midair and flying close to the water’s surface toward him.
Behind her, the Siren, which had reopened its blood basin of a mouth, seed to swallow the heavens and the earth, cast a thick shadow over Ossie’s flight path, rapidly advancing toward the Iceberg Queen.
"Squeak!"
In the crucial last mont, Ossie precisely reached out her claws and grabbed the aft collar of the crew in the water. Fortunately, not many had jumped into the sea to retrieve spears; otherwise, she might have been stranded by the weight.
Still, even so, carrying the crew and Fisher was almost too much for Ossie; she gritted her teeth and flapped her wings hard, a strenuous noise emanating from her mouth, but still, she couldn’t rise from the water’s surface.
Watching the approaching Siren, Fisher grimaced, clenched his teeth, and decisively retracted the Fluid Sword linked to the crew,
"You take them up first!"
With that, he gripped his Fluid Sword and plunged into the sea, heading straight for the Siren’s gaping maw.
Feeling slightly lighter below, Ossie didn’t look back at Fisher but again strained to ascend, finally hauling the crew onto the deck of the Iceberg Queen.
"Roar!"
Below the ship, Fisher, falling rapidly, faced the loudly bellowing Sea Demon Siren, as a dense surge of sound waves accompanied by the distinct sll of marine life rushed toward him.
