Mr. Fisher turned his head toward the sound to look at the Mother Goddess Statue beside him, only to see that behind the statue, the pregnant rabbit nun Ilois was dragging a large bulging sack with one hand. The sack was bulging with unknown contents; it must have co from the bell tower upstairs, which explained why she hadn’t co down for so long.
However, when Mr. Fisher looked at her panting with her hand on her small belly, he felt a guilt similar to making one’s pregnant wife do dirty and tiring work, even though she wasn’t actually pregnant.
“My goodness, are you trying to move the entire church? Besides, I’m more curious about how you managed to carry that big sack down from upstairs.”
Emhardt, perched on Mr. Fisher’s shoulder, pursed his lips and rcilessly comnted.
“Eh? These are Sister Shalu’s belongings, and so are valuable items from inside the church. If we leave, I’m afraid they will all be stolen…”
Mr. Fisher wordlessly glanced at the jars and bottles in the sack; even the pickled sauerkraut and spices had been packed, it seed her miserliness rivaled his own.
“Valuables? What valuables do you have? Let take a look.”
Just then, a pair of pancake-like lion ears suddenly appeared behind Mr. Fisher, the ears perked up and shook rrily upon hearing Ilois’s words, and then Mr. Fisher felt soone approach, their eyes shining as they scrutinized the contents of Ilois’s sack.
It was Philis, the money-grubber under Valentina’s command and a mber of the lion-man species.
“Tsk, what is this trash? You call these valuables? Got all excited for nothing… Oh, right, I almost forgot, the boss says to hurry up. We still need to catch a boat and leave the Sardinia Female Country.”
After getting a clear look at the items in the sack, Philis was quite disappointed. She disdainfully stepped away from Mr. Fisher, not realizing that her blunt words imdiately made the nun Ilois in front of her look pitiful.
“I… I’ll just leave these things here in the church…”
Ilois’s ears drooped a little more, and with a downcast face, she tried to drag the big sack back into her room. But Mr. Fisher could not bear to see her struggle with the load anymore. He effortlessly pulled the large quantity of items back to the front of the room and casually comforted her,
“It’s okay, the Luxiang Castle City Mayor should watch over them for you if he’s not a complete fool, since the Turand Family has bought the place…”
“Mm… Mm.”
Ilois, holding her small belly, obediently nodded her head, a faint blush crossing her face as she thought of sothing. She then followed Mr. Fisher out of the church.
“Dong! Dong! Dong!”
She listened to the church bells for the last ti, but the peaceful sound didn’t give her much courage. She felt sowhat unsure, especially about the journey ahead.
But since she had decided to take this step, to go back and see her already deceased family for one last ti, she should muster the courage…
She silently prayed in her heart once more, seeking the Mother Goddess in the skies to watch over and protect her.
The carriage at the door lacked Space Magic but was still spacious. Valentina, Balzac, and Philis were all sitting inside the carriage, while Cardinal Helldor was driving the carriage from outside,
“Mr. Fisher, Sister Ilois, please get on quickly. It’s very cold outside. We’re heading to the harbor now and will leave the Sardinia Female Country tonight…”
Mr. Fisher nodded, helped Sister Ilois into the carriage first, and was about to board himself when he seed to notice sothing. He turned his head lightly toward the side of the carriage, catching sight of a pair of pale silver eyes peeking out from behind the slightly lifted curtain of the car window.
As Mr. Fisher turned to look at those eyes, the curtain suddenly fell down, hiding the view from Valentina behind it.
“Forget it, it looks a bit crowded inside. I’ll sit outside with you.”
Mr. Fisher shook his head and said so.
